    made in taiwan

    • +1

      China number 1

      • +2

Taiwan number 1. China number 7

    • +1

      therefore no added gutter oil

      • That's how you know it's authentic.

  • looks good

    • Yeah it does look good

  • +3

    Love this

  • +4

+1 for not being palm oil.

  • +3

Taiwanese sauce brand and made in Taiwan.

The full name of this country is "Republic of China", it's also known as ROC.
So what's the problem calling it a "Chinese sauce"?

      • -6

The China you speak of (modern day China, since there is only one, right?) is not the same China ROC stands for. Taiwanese population are shifting away from 'being Chinese' as their identity evolves. You'd be more correct to refer to it as Asian sauce.

        • +11

Politically not Chinese, culturally very much Chinese.

          • @Ragnarok1983: except the chive field and those that govern it wants to endlessly expand on 'everything is theirs' ideology. Including the population, the party, the government, the name, the land and even if people are Chinese culture…all belongs to the one modern day China.

That's like saying all Africans are of one nation, party and culture…which we know doesn't work in modern day society. Except Wakanda.

            • +2

@hippo2s: and who cares what the CCP says? this has nothing to do with politics.

Taiwanese identity may have shifted a lot in the past few decades, but it doesn't change the fact that they're part of the Sinosphere and practise Chinese customs.

      • because of One China policy, if Taiwan is also China, then there's two China.

  • Happy cow

  • Cant' resist a bargain, giving it a shot.

    • Does it really matter? There's Chinese written all over the packaging

      • -1

        Traditional Chinese, not simplified Chinese

    • culturally chinese, but not from the PRC.

      • +3

Chinese doesn’t just have to be PRC.
Can be Malaysian, Australian, or many other countries all over the world, as long as your ethnic background is Chinese.

          • +8

@hippo2s: A person that practices Chinese culture and customs is a Chinese person.

Japanese, Koreans and other South East Asians (non-Chinese) do not follow chinese traditions or speak the tongue. Nor are they part of the Sinosphere.

Are you even Chinese to be asking so many rhetorical questions?

  • Never heard of it but will give it a go. Is it a good addition to stir fry sauces?

    • +2

It’s quite multipurpose. Personally I enjoy it very much.

  • +4

    Whats the deal?Thats normal price

  • got some. Never had it before, but it sounds good, going by the reviews

  • what do you do with this paste?

    • -4

You use it as an adhesive compound for de-glued unstamped stamps.

    • +4

Same thing that Jamie Oliver does with chilli jam when making authentic Asian cuisine

  • +1

I swear this was like $3.50 a jar last year? What's the normal price now?

    • $4.16 Bought last couple weeks and its made in Taiwan not Switzerland,$3.5 still seems not a bargain but if you want try its ok as I bought one to try.

      • +1

Ah you're totally right. Last purchased Dec 22 for $4.16. No deal here.

  • I bought one a few weeks ago, it tastes really good. a bit spicy

  • +2

    Bought 1.
    Thanks OP

    • Glad I can help :)

  • Never seen this one…I did grow up on Bull Head Satay sauce tho!

  • +2

    Isn't this just normal price?

  • 2-4 weeks delivery?

Would accept "A Versatile Chinese Han Peoples' Sauce instead? Taiwan is around 80-95% Han ancestry

    • -3

A versatile African people's sauce? Didn't they say Asian (And Han is included) ancestry came from Africa?

Don't take me as attacking you…but just demonstrating where do you draw the line?

      • +2

If you didn't get want to attack then just no. Don't answer my question with another question. It as simple as that. Why because that is your opinion and your allowed to state it. Whether I agree or not doesn't impact your judgement to cause a flip of the coin.

      • +2

why are you asking so many questions? Why are you trying to prescribe identities? are you even a chinese person yourself?

I don't get why you see the need to draw a line.

i'm an overseas chinese myself, my ancestors migrated from Republic Of China to Nanyang. what are you suggesting? that i can't call myself a Chinese person because CCP says so?

  • Is this spicy? I'm scared this is gonna be a hot sauce

    • Don't buy it if you can't take chili at all.

    • if you find salt and pepper to be too much of spice and too flavourful, this would probably be too spicy for you…

    • it's not chilli spicy. 2yo's can have it with no issues so you will be fine.

    • My spicy tolerance level is 1 out of 5 and I find this sauce not spicy at all.

  • No idea why I bought this 4 hours ago, but I see it's now out of stock, so glad I didn't miss out.

Isn't that the ozb catch phrase.

  • +1

Honestly this sauce is shit, binned it.

Get Heng's shallot oil. It has shallot crisp that's properly crispy and the oil is super fragrant. Just 2 ingredients : literally canola oil and shallots.

this one has all kinds of garbage in there, tasted sweet and strange.

    • available on amazon?

      • nope, you need to try your local asian grocer. It's not very popular i rarely see it.

  • fyi for those that are wondering "where have i tasted this from??". Its the same sauce they use in Wei Lih Noodle Onion "https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/717kcInjuoL.AC_UF894,1000_QL80.jpg".

yes yes… i know..onion and shallot is different… but here in china..we say "same same lahhhhhh"

    • we say "same same lahhhhhh"

Never met a chinese that uses this expression, it's more of a malaysian or singaporean saying lol…
