As an owner of 2 blackvue cameras (DR750x and DR900x 2CH) I have stopped recommending them to people.
The cameras were always pricey for dash cams but the quality was/is always there from my experience (3+ years with the brand). My problem now is the app. It sucks.
They've literally taken every bad idea of app monetisation over the past 5 years and tried to cram it into the app:
- Social media functionality? Tick (why do I care about driving footage from Texas!?)
- Only 1 camera paired to each account, unless you pay a subscription fee (this used to be free)
- Live view is time limited now for free, otherwise you pay to get unlimited live view access to your camera
- Cloud storage (5gb or pay for more)
- Uploads and downloads are capped unless you pay
- App navigation is awful
So now you pay more than competitor products AND you get inferior service.
What do you recommend to people now?
Hard to say without much experience on other brands, but have heard good things of Viofo

I don't even want to use the cloud and it's annoying! Biggest issue for me is not being able to have more than 1 camera per account. It's fine if you drive one car normally, but if you're a family with multiple cars or a business it's an added expenditure and the pricing is outrageous.
Introductory offer of $0.99 USD… except the thing that's crossed out is $11.99 USD/MONTH. That is insane.
One thing I forgot to mention is connectivity between app and camera has gotten worse. I've parked in a concrete parking complex and not been able to connect to the app. Even though it uses local wifi (i.e. the device says a signal and the phone captures that signal), if the phone doesn't have internet connectivity for whatever reason, it won't connect.

I highly recommend the Viofo A139 Pro which uses the new Sony Starvis 2 sensor, extremely happy with the quality of the 4K footage.
I got the 2 channel for $415 during a recent eBay promo but I see it's even cheaper now at $390 with the current 22% off (but out of stock).
