    RIP standard accessory fuses.

    • I have this. Or a similar one. Never had a fuse blow

      • +2

It depends on what fuse you have in your car and what you are actually drawing from the charger. 10A will allow ~120w, 15A will allow ~180w. Drawing 160w from a car charger IMO is a bad idea.

  • I have three of those and they're great for any custom installations. Use it on a standard cigarette socket too to charge two smartphones at once.

  • Can anyone tell me how much this sticks out from the socket? Need something low profile so I can close the cubby when not in use

    • this will stick out

      • Can anyone tell me how much this sticks out from the socket?

About a fair bit more than a smidge.

It depends on how deep your socket is.

Handily I have this charger sitting on my desk, and it is 76.5mm long, or 73mm long if the spring tip contact is fully compressed. (The flared head maxes out at 42.5mm wide.)

Assuming a ~46mm deep socket with a ~21.5mm internal diameter, then the flair in width of the charger means a minimum of 28mm sticks out past the end of the socket.

The actual sockets I have range from 35mm to 40mm deep. So anywhere up to about 40mm will stick out.

      • Thank you, given the measurements it will stick out so Ill have to wait for a lower profile option to come along. Really appreciate your efforts thank you!

No worries - it was good timing!

One thing to watch for - many USB-C PD spec car chargers only output 15V or 20V when used with a 24V input. This is because they only have circuitry that can step the voltage down, not up.

This particular 160W Baseus model is the one of the few cheap options that will actually step the voltage up, so do 20V, 100W when used in a car. Even the cheaper 100W Baseus car charger doesn't do voltage step up, so is limited to 12V, 3A in car use.

Often this isn't explained in the item description.

Any reason why in their list of phones that it supports they wouldn't talk about Galaxy S22, S23 etc. As it does mention S20.and S21. Can understand S23 not making their marketing materials due to age but would expect to see S22.

    • @seamonkey was about to pull the trigger on this as i'm well overdue, but you make a solid damn point lol

      • Yeah seems risky doesn't it. I might go with the 'ol slowly slowly catchy monkey approach.

        • I mean you could reach out to support and you might just be right, it could just be old marketing and they cbf updating it and it's not like Baseus is known for shitty stuff but i mean 160w also seems pretty overkill lmao. Maybe I'll reach out to support lol

          • @ignited141: you're right. Sorry I was lazy on that one. Guess it was because I second guessed if I needed it. Need to update calthe care one but with 2 of those ZMI 210W ipowerbanks in the house and a SATECHI 165W PD GaN, I should probably relax a bit. Don't tend to go on super long drives. Best use I could put it to is keeping my Mini 3 Pro fresh when out and about but even then I probably have too many batteries hehe

The charger lists support for PD3.0 (and includes PPS) so will fast charge any of the latest Samsung phones.

        • @prong You're right, i should buy it

  • I have the 65w version of this. It gets pretty hot if I charge my MacBook, but has never melted anything.

Sticks out about 2.5cm which is hidden away in my car. Blue lights are medium bright, but match my car lighting at least. It’s high quality.

I bought one yesterday and just came this morning. Unexpected delivery speed by eBay :)

Looks like USB-C cable is included. I wonder if anybody knows the cable is 100w capable or not?

EDIT: Based on below URL, it is 100w cable
