Costco is not have a good grammar.

    • Costco learnt grammar in Victoria.

    • R U OK?

or may be, are you ok?

  • I'm 99.9% sure its a 4 AH kit from what I can see in the photos + kits listed online.

  • It includes 2 4AH batteries and they are cordless only instead of brushless

    • They are brushless. I bought one. Great deal

  • Are these brushless motors?

It's all pretty basic entry level brushed stuff but not too bad at the sale price I guess. Wouldn't touch it at anywhere near RRP and probably only good for a home handyman.

Who buys premium tool brands and then gets brushed tools?

I'd much rather have a brushless Ozito than a brushed DeWalt!

  • +2

Why would they even bother producing brushed tools nowaday?

    • +2

Product differnciation so they can price discriminate. Marketing bro..

This is an excellent deal and you're buying into a well established system that you know will be around for years. As will battery support. On that note my earliest DeWalt XR batteries are now nearly 10 years old and still perform great.

I have all of these tools except the torch together with their brushless equivalents - there really isn't that much difference in practice and to be honest I prefer the cheaper brushed angle grinder as it handles better. Frankly I just use whatever's to hand and don't care which version it is.

I do find the smaller 165mm circular saw a bit limited in cutting depth but not power so also have the 185mm version.

I also have some select Ozito tools and they're just not in the same class but then they're much cheaper generally.

  • Similar set in brushless would be around $977 (notwithstanding the $100 bonus point deals that Total Tools/Sydney Tools have on today).

    Dewalt DCK316P2T-XE Impact/Hammer/Angle Grinder/2x5.0ah - $649
    Dewalt DCS565N-XJ Circular Saw - $279
    Dewalt DCL040-XJ Light - $49
