Home Assistant SkyConnect Zigbee and Thread USB Gateway - $55 (20% off) & Free Express Shipping @ Smart Guys Australia

250

Hi all,

We have a great deal on the Home Assistant SkyConnect at the moment and would like to share it with the community. It is $14 off (20%) our normal price of $69. We normally provide free shipping on all items and $5 for AusPost Express. For this sale, all items will be Express Shipped (just choose free shipping at checkout).

The Home Assistant SkyConnect is the easiest way to add Zigbee support to your Home Assistant instance and make it Matter-ready. If you are on the latest version of Home Assistant, it is automatically discovered and works seamlessly with ZHA. Zigbee2MQTT integration is possible but not officially supported.

There are many reasons why you should choose the Home Assistant SkyConnect as your choice of dongle for your home automation setup:

  • The only dongle currently on sale that will have Thread and Matter support
  • Fully supported by Nabu-casa with regular firmware updates
  • Buying SkyConnect supports Nabu Casa and will help them to continue improving the product we all love and rely on daily - Home Assistant
  • Seamless integration with Home Assistant
  • Dual protocol set-up so you can integrate with thousands of devices regardless of manufacturer
  • Comes with a USB extension cable to ensure your Home Assistant machine does not interfere with Zigbee communications
  • USB plug and play design means you can design your Home Assistant install to be as powerful as you want and add on Zigbee/Thread support.
  • Zigbee 3.0 (EmberZNet/EZSP)

We have a new range of Zigbee switches (Mercator) and sensors which will pair great with the SkyConnect - check them out here

A note on shipping: All items are dispatched same day if ordering before midday (Mon-Fri). We use Australia Post for all our shipping and you will get tracking.

Hope you find this to be a good deal and please let us know if you have any questions in the comments below.

Happy automating,
The team @SmartGuys

Think this one is cheaper with postage

    Got mine here

Shipping from "CN warehouse", "1 in stock", that price of $29.99 is probably USD, so just the device is going to be closer to 50 AUD, incl. the duty and not including the shipping, which is going to take loooong from China.

Happy to be corrected here, but so far I'd go with Smart Guys Australia.

Hi, thanks for the link. I can't seem to generate a shipping quote without creating an account. We at Smart Guys completely acknowledge though that we are not always the cheapest when comparing internationally. Nonetheless, buying from a retailer that locally stocks the item means:

        • Quicker delivery with same day dispatch (express in this case)
        • We will manage the warranty for you - any faults and we will send you a new item from Sydney. This means less wait time for you and less hassle dealing with international companies that are not bound by Australian Consumer Law.
        • We are always available for support questions and understand the products we sell
        • We pay duties and tax in Australia (which is partly why we charge a bit more than the Chinese suppliers).

Hope that helps shed some light on our pricing!

Great Deal , Bought one , It feels good to support a local business in Australia

Thank you! We appreciate the support

  • Worth upgrading from the Sonos Zigbee stick?

    • +4

If you have a working installation, then probably not just yet.

Both are Zigbee 3.0. The SkyConnect is really just future proofing you with the Thread protocol.

      • Thanks mate

      • Future proofing and specifically designed to work with Home Assistant.

      • Any upcoming deals for SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus?

    • Depends. If you have the EZSP version of the Sonoff dongle, you can flash a RCP firmware to make it practically the same as SkyConnect. They’re using the same chip anyway. For old Dongle-P that uses CC chip, they don’t support thread/matter.

  • That's a good deal. If my conbee II wasn't still doing it's thing I'd grab one.

  • Would you still need to run it if an usb extension lead?

    • +2

      Hi,

Yes this will need to be run with the USB extension due to the interference that USB 3.0 ports can create. The SkyConnect comes with an extension cable.

      Regards
      Tim

@smartguysaustralia are you guys going to run any deals on the Konnected panels? Have been waiting patiently for ages .

  • I’m curious about this, I’ve got a conbee II currently connecting my Zigbee devices via Zigbee2MQTT to homeassistant. Would this be a good upgrade at this stage ?

    • +1

      Hey,

I think the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies.

The Conbee ii is still using Zigbee 2.0 though so at some point you might find there are compatibility issues with Zigbee 3.0 devices. Zigbee is meant to be backwards compatible but eventually manufacturers stop testing devices on older 2.0 hubs.

      • Worth upgrading from a conbee 2 that since day 1 has been disconnecting endlessly and unstable, latest firmware. Maybe i had a dud.

  • Anyone know if you can run xiaomi (mihome)/aqara zigbee sensors to this stick straight or still have to go throguh the xiaomi hub?

    • Yes, you could use this device with Home Assistant without need for additional hubs. Blakadder has a good database which you can search for your sensor devices. The Skyconnect works better with ZHA than Zigbee2MQTT for now.

    • Yes ZigBee aqara

  • Thanks OP ! Great deal and just got one for the home. Not to do the setup :-)

Any PIR or door sensors on sale OP ?

  • @smartguysaustralia How is your Mercator stock? — I purchased a few months ago from another store but all of the stock I received was damaged (scratched/marred faceplates). The seller then checked their inventory and all stock had damage, it was unfortunate because I otherwise really liked the product and wanted to use them.

    • @smartguysaustralia If your Mercator stock is good, I'd be interested in ordering.. ?

      • Hi,

We will inspect our stock and let you know (just in case it's a batch issue or something like that) but we cycle through stock quite quickly so I imagine there aren't any issues with the more recent batches.

        • @smartguysaustralia Ok, if your double GPO & double GPO w/USB stock is good let me know.. and I'll start ordering ;)

  • Do you have zwave compatible dongle too? Thanks

    • +1

Hi, we have the Aeotec z stick but nothing that has both Zigbee and Zwave on the same dongle unfortunately.

  • looking for a good zwave zigbee combo stick ( AU zwave frequency)

  • How many devices can it handle

    • Hi,

There is no max limit on the number of devices that can be paired. However the following should be noted:

      • Battery powered devices connecting directly to the stick will eventually hit a performance limit (say 100 devices)

      • If you have routers (powered Zigbee devices), this will allow you to expand the network beyond 100 devices as some of the battery powered devices will mesh through these routers.

      • Having a large amount of Zigbee traffic can interfere with WiFi so you would have to tune the channels to avoid interference (not a problem for 95% of Zigbee installs).

      • Can hue bulbs count as routers

        • Yes they are routers and will help improve range and reliability in your network

  • FYI there is a spelling mistake on that page - "avaialble".

  • What's the usual approach to handling multiple buildings, e.g. a shed and a house about 30m apart, connected by ethernet; I assume that you need separate HA instances with their own USB gateways. Is that the case?

  • Planning on a deal for the Mercator zigbee switches?

  • These guys aren't kidding about same day shipping. I ordered a few items on Friday afternoon, they arrived perfectly packed and exactly as ordered on Monday morning. Great stuff.

Missed this sale - Any chance of another one soon @smartguysaustralia

  • Thanks to Smartguys for help with my order. Great customer service.

    • Bummer. Too later. Ordered and received SkyConnect by now.

  • Bummer, missed this deal. Any chance of a repeat OP?
