  • How to use this if you have Aus number? Anyway to divert Aus number to this SIM card when you are oversea?

    • +1

      Hey @nik πŸ‘‹

If you have a dual SIM phone you can leave your Australian SIM in the device and receive calls and use data from one of our SIMs (to avoid roaming charges).

If you do not, there is no way to reroute calls to an international number reliably (that I am aware of).

      Hope this helps!

      -Aidan

      • Do you mean receiving calls to my Australian SIM using data from one of your eSIMs in a similar way to using VoWiFi to receive calls?

i.e. turning on airplane mode but turning on WiFi Calling on my Australian SIM.
And turning off airplane mode on one of your eSIMS.

        • +1

          Hey @BuyNow Think Later

No, I was referring to receiving calls directly to your Aus number via the dual SIM function in some devices (while using data from a different SIM).

You can still do what you mentioned above and receive wifi or data calls with one of our SIMs and no Aus SIM in the device.

          Hope this clears things up!

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect:

No, I was referring to receiving calls directly to your Aus number via the dual SIM function in some devices (while using data from a different SIM).

Does this mean I have to enable roaming while disabling data on my Aus SIM?

            • +3

@BuyNow Think Later: @BuyNow Think Later

If you have dual SIM you can actually designate your non-Aus SIM for data usage in your settings and keep your Aus SIM fully functional and the data won't get used unless you change the settings.

It could be safer to completely turn data usage on your Aus SIM OFF if that is possible (to avoid roaming charges).

  • How long are the esims valid for? I'm travelling at Christmas so wondering if it will last til then.

    • Hey @frogduck

Check for an expiry or use-by date on each products page n our website by clicking the product link on this post.

Each product varies, but most, if not all, should cover that amount of time without a fuss!

Saw some cheaper options on klook like this
Wondering what's the difference? It costs around $10 as opposed to $33 on your store

        • Hey @IpGem

They are just different products from different networks with different prices (as determined by the telco).

If that network is reliable then that's a great deal πŸ‘

          -Aidan

  • Can we nominate an activation date? I'm looking to buy the 30GB/30Day Europe one, doesn't seem to have an expiry listed…

    • Hey @kwchaz

No date is needed; the 30 days start when you activate and install it on your device by following the instructions that are delivered by email on purchase πŸ€™

      -Aidan

      • Ah, excellent - from experience, the Bouygues Network needs someone to activate it for me in France, that won't be a problem? It will be ready to go in October even if I buy it now?

        • +1

          Hey @kwchaz

Nope won't be a problem, there's been a new system rollout, and no activation is required.

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: Sweet, so I can land in London and it'll be ready? Don't have to land in France first? Sorry, bit paranoid.

  • Your USA, Canada, Mexico Unlimited 30 Days (AT&T) unlimited is unlimited including canada? Just checking cause I've seen other Canada sims capped due to how exp data is there

    • +2

      Hey @freestyle18

      It is unlimited in Canada!

However, it is important to know that after 22GB of use, you will be put on a lower priority. This means that your speed can be dialled down to 4G when the network is congested.

      Hope this helps!

  • Are there any esim plans that cover the same as the physical sim EU & UK 30 Days (71 Countries) deal?

    • Hey @Jr64

No, unfortunately! We are waiting on ThreeUK to bring out their eSIM version but have not heard any ETA's on when or if that will happen.

      -Aidan

  • Hi Aidan,
I'm going to Hong Kong for five days only. Are there any eSIMs for Hong Kong for a shorter period of time?

    • Hey @BuyNow

We do not have anything shorter, unfortunately.

      Sorry about that!

      -Aidan

  • Looking at the USA Sims, what if we need one longer than 30 days?

    • Hey @Specificagent1

We do not have anything beyond 30 days, unfortunately, the only workaround is to buy 2 SIMs and swap them over as you go.

    • +1

      Hey @Sheila Dealer

Nothing has changed since the last sale. Just follow the exact same process as listed on the product page, SIM guide and instructions sent by email after purchase.

      -Aidan

  • Oh no, recently bought 3 usa/canada sims so have missed out on the sale 😭😭😭😭. So sad.

  • Weird query but can OP or anyone else recommend a sim for a foreigner entering Australia on holiday? Not sure if this is any good or anyone has other thoughts.

    • +1

      Hey @ts13

That's a great deal and Optus is pretty good πŸ‘

You can't really go wrong with any of the Aussie Telcos prepaid SIMs - all are pretty competitive and of similar value.

Generally speaking Telstra does have an advantage in terms of coverage (especially more rural). But in major towns and cities all Telcos should be pretty similar.

      Hope that helps!

      -Aidan

  • I'm going to be in UK / EU for 2 months (Oct - Dec) and 2 weeks in Japan.

Would you normally just double up? On eSim purchases?

The 365 day with 12GB sounds easiest but definitely not enough data for 2 1/2 months

    • Hey @TheFlyingCoder

Yep that's usually what most people do.

Just purchase multiple SIMs and swap them around when you need to.

      -Aidan

  • I need a Sim for Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Japan for next year March to April. Which Sim should I get?

    • Hey @macr0hard

The South East Asia or Japan SIM will do the trick, they will cover everything except HongKong.

For Hong Kong you will need a separate SIM. We sell an eSIM for HK, or otherwise you can grab something locally or from another store.

      Hope that helps!

      -Aidan

  • Just be careful when buying esim for hongkong. My advise is buying sim or esim through Klook maybe easier and quicker than this one.

Bought a 25gb 90 day hongkong esim last night, paid activated, no internet. All set as per instruction, LTE signal on, APN set correctly, nothing no internet.
Then found out that you have to register your real name on the website, ah i thought easy peasy… nope, have tried about 30 times capture and upload photo passport process without any success.

Contacted support via live chat, no response as yet. Not sure if i can get this esim to work or get my money back.

    • Hey @WalkerHarris

Im so sorry to hear you're having trouble with the SIM! It's the last thing we want while you are trying to move around overseas 😞

Get in touch with the team via our live chat or email, and we will sort it all out for you.

If we can't get the activation going for you on the Telcos system, you have my word you will be refunded in full.

      -Aidan

      • I have tried get in touch with your team via email and chat. No response since yesterday. Aidan, Could you help escalate?

        • Hey @WalkerHarris

On it! We've got all hands on deck currently going through and getting to customers as best we can.

I am so sorry that there's been a delay getting to you.

To escalate this I will need you to DM me your email address, and I can search for it inside our customer service database.

          -Aidan

  • Hi @SimsDirect

Only the single 3gb eSim on sale for NZ at the moment? I'm after the 10GB one even at full price. Need one for Saturday and I suspect physical sim wouldn't arrive in time (for South east Qld).

Also it states above unlimited calls and texts on the 3GB, but yet when you click on the link it states '200 minutes calls to NZ & Aussie numbers'

    • Hey @mshanann

      They've been restocked!

I'll fix it as soon as I can, thanks for pointing that out.

      -Aidan

      • Thanks OP - purchased

  • Argh why no Argentina πŸ˜‘

    • +1

      Hey @Mike0707

We do have one SIM that works in Argentina here.

Let me know if you need anything else :)

      -Aidan

      • Oh excellent - thanks so much. All the countries we are going to are included with this sim. We are going for around a month does that mean we would have to buy two unique sims or can we just buy one and then add a data pack for another 15 days so we can use it for the whole trip?
Also is there no eSim option for this one?

        Thanks!

        • Hey @Mike0707

You will need to get 2 of those and swap them out as you go to have data for 30 days correct.

We do not have the eSIM version YET. This will take a little bit for us to onboard.

          -Aidan

  • Aidan and the team are fantastic. I’m currently writing this in Thailand from one of the previous sim deals.
He even once met me at the train station many years ago for a last minute sim!

    • Hey @Ratzos

Thanks for the support and kind words! ❀️

I remember that! Always happy to help where possible :)

  • Hi

For the 30gb esim for Europe, I'm travelling in a month to Iceland, Norway and Italy… would it work in those locations for calls and data?

    • Hey @dinglejerry

Yep it works in all those countries!

      -Aidan

      • Thanks, sorry I checked your website afterwards and realised it did! Hopefully coverage is good in more remote regions of Norway as that's where I'll be headed

  • Hey Aidan,

Looking at getting 2 of the 30D Thailand 15GB eSim.

Notice that its Data-Only, does this mean that I can't receive call either? Or I can receive call and just can't make calls?

    Also what carrier is it?

    Thanks mate

    • +1

      Hey @buckethat

You will not be able to receive calls on that SIM unfortunately, unless you have an iPhone and someone calls you via facetime.

      DTAC!

Let me know if you have any further questions :)

      -Aidan

  • Hey, quick (stupid) question…

I am looking at purchasing 2x Europe & UK eSIM - 30GB | 30 Days, one for me and one for my travel partner.
It says "Can receive calls & texts from European numbers".
Just wanting to check that we can call each other from our mobiles using the eSim number as I have a habit of getting lost in amongst the tourist crowds.

    Thanks :)

    • Hey @pizzin

Yes, that will be no trouble at all :)

Let me know if you have any further questions!

      -Aidan

      • thanks heaps Aidan.

        • No worries! πŸ€™

  • I am interested in purchasing Europe &UK 12G for 30 days, working in 71 countries. Is it going to work in Singapore & also in Australia?
If this SIM works the same way in all 71 countries, why it is advertised as Europe &UK?

    • Hey @Emka

It does work in Australia and Singapore, however, it's data only in those countries.

We've just labelled it as a Europe/UK product because that's where the SIM is from and where the calls and texts work.

      Hope that clears it up!

      -Aidan

      • Thanks Alan, that clears things up

  • I dont think my phone is compatable with eSim…

    • Hey @TigerWoops

      Check the compatibility list here

Any devices newer than whats listed on here will also be eSIM capable :)

      -Aidan

      • Redmi Note 9 Pro…. not supported… γ… γ…

    • @basketballfreak6

Thanks for the purchase and support ❀️

Reach out if you need anything!

      -Aidan

  • Hi OP, planning to go to USA in Oct this year. Just double confirming that i can buy now and activated in Oct for those unlimited sim cards?

    Also, trying to check coverage in zip code 95389 (Yosemite);
Ultra Mobile has good coverage but not compatible for iphone 14 pro max but compatible for samsung s8 (lol).
Tmobile somehow shows quite significant 'no coverage' areas
AT&T shows the best coverage, but the sims plan has no Hotspot/tethering.

    Anyone has any recommendations? :)

    • Hey @countmein

Yep, you can do that no worries at all.

The Ultrabmobile should work with a iPhone 14 pro max without any issues. Where have you found this information?

Also, the ATT SIM does have hotspot and tethering option available for an extra $10 (7.50 during the sale).

Let me know if you have any further questions :)

      -Aidan

      • Hey Aidan
Its from the link on your website here
        https://www.ultramobile.com/trialplan/

        No biggie

        Another quick qs:
Do these two have slow speed capped?

USA Unlimited 30 Days (T-mobile)(simsdirect.com.au)πŸ”₯ UNLIMITED Unlimited calls & text (USA Only) $54.00
USA, Canada, Mexico Unlimited 30 Days (AT&T)(simsdirect.com.au) UNLIMITED Unlimited calls & texts (US, CA & Mex Only) $63.75

  • What’s the validity of the sim there is no date thanks.

    https://simsdirect.com.au/collections/esim-europe/products/e…

    • Hey @Pav-07

The 30GB eSIM does not have an expiry date on it, so don't stress about that.

If you are more than 2 years away then maybe hold off, but anything under that and you'll be sweet! πŸ‘

Let me know if you have any further questions :)

      -Aidan

  • Is there a unlimited South American sim/eSIM? Thanks

    • Hey @amps

We do not have that, unfortunately!

Sorry we can't help you this time!

      -Aidan

  • Hi Aidan, I bought three USA eSIMs on Monday (3 days ago) & haven't received any yet. Just the order confirmation email. Your team says there been a β€œglitch in the system”, whatever that means, but last communication was yesterday morning. Any ideas what’s going on?

    • This is very unlike my previous dealings with this company who were until this week very responsive to problems. To have no reply here is unusual.

The help people were saying they had technical issues but then went silent.

Now they are saying that they need the IMEI & EID of each phone that will use the eSIM. As our travel is several months away, I’m expecting that two of our iPhones will have changed by that time, so if we lock in the IMEI & EID now, we’ll have wasted this purchase.

Aidan, could you please step in to sort this out?

    • Hey @bcarp

      Thanks for reaching out!

If you purchased the unlimited USA eSIMs, you will need to email us:

      • Your activation date
      • EID number
      • IMEI number

We need all this information to generate the eSIM for you. There is no receiving of the eSIMs by eamil; they just automatically get added to your device on the activation date you provide us (you will also receive a notification).

Here is a guide on how to get your IMEI and EID

Let me know if you have any further questions!

      -Aidan

      • So what happens if the phone change between now and travel date?

        • I got a reply to this question from support. The answer is… tough luck. Once the eSIM is allocated to a particular phone, it’s locked to that phone. If you lose or change the phone, the eSIM is gone with it. So don’t tell them what phone it will be until just before you travel. Or perhaps it might be better to purchase a physical sim because at least that can be stored with your travel documents until you actually travel. I’m not sure why the eSIM isn’t just a QR code that can be scanned by your phone just before leaving, like how the Optus eSIM works.

  • Hi Aidan,

I have bought a Japan sim on Sunday and haven't received anything yet? I've also sent an email to your support…any idea what's happening?

    • Hey @kidraji

Sorry for the delay in getting to you. We're getting pumped from the sale at the moment and it's all hands on deck.

      Thanks for letting me know.

Please DM me your order number and I can follow it up for you :)

I’ve only just seen this πŸ₯Ή and saw it’s recently expired. Any chance for an ozbargain special extension? Looking at purchasing for my wife and I for a trip coming up soon.

Last year they posted EOFY sale on 12 June so fingers crossed for another deal soon.

  • eSim worked great in NZ. thanks
