I miss the previous prices, now everything seems to be increasing except for wages

I have one - it's gotta be 10 years old and still going strong.

    • do you have any issues with the water corroding it? I have had two irons in the past year go to shit? I don't know what to do, i tried cleaning with vinger but only once and it died before then i think

      • Same here. My iron would also be around 10 years or so old. Never used anything else to clean it. Probably using vinegar is what killed it, because two irons dying would be more than a coincidence.

      • Same here, when lime scale build up and when it peel the coating off that when we get corrosion. They recommend to use de-mineralise water to reduce scale build up. vinegar will corode rubber seals and cause leakage.

        • ohh noo! the internet lied to me ahah! i kept having like white stuff go onto my clothes if i used tap water.. what water do you use?

      • +1

Vinegar will make them rust faster.
I use distilled water in an attempt to avoid corrosion

  • Consider getting an iron with built in accelerometer which cuts it off automaticcaly if you forget to turn it off.

    • +1

Is that so you don’t get burnt when the wife throws it at you?

      • It turns off if you forget to. Save the house.

    • Does this iron doesn’t have that?

      • Dunno. I have one from Kmart which automatically turns off if it detects no movement.

        • That’s frustrating. Because I have same situation with Tefal iron. It stops heating and starts blinking

That's a small iron. You need one with at least 220-240g steam boost to actually make a difference on cotton and linen clothing.

Thats only 600% the cost of this one

You get what you pay for mate….!! if you want your cotton clothes looking schmick. invest in a better iron.

        • +3

Sure but its a little odd to suggest a $200 iron on a post about a $34 iron

@BrokeCamel: There's bargains, and then there's cheap junk. I came to this thread precisely for comments like BrownManWalking's - I iron clothes like once a quarter and I don't want a cheap piece of junk to replace my existing cheap piece of junk, which makes the whole experience a nightmare.

People who actually iron shit regularly and know what "steam boost" is and the impact it has on different fabric types are the real heroes!

            • @trawg: Absolutely makes sense! All my shirts and trousers are made of excellent fabric and I don't want to brag but they're expensive. I wouldn't want a $30 iron ruining any of my clothing especially if the cost of the clothing is a few times over the cost of the iron.

You missed the point bud! Keep scrolling

    • do you have this one? / are you happy with it ? Trying to iron cotton / linen shirts/dresses absolutely drives me up the wall and now im thinking this is why,…

Philips Azur 8000 Is the best iron I have used in last 20 years , it’s expensive but worth spend money , I simply love the OptimalTEMP Technology in this unit .

    • $200 vs $34? lol

There's a couple of reviews on Amazon where people seem to have received already used irons (water in tank, minor damage, unsealed packaging). Unlikely an issue if buying from Bing Lee or Harvey Norman instead I guess, seems like a decent iron for the price

    • +2

I just returned mine last week with the same issue(water in tank) and end up picked up from Harvey Norman.

      • heaps of water or precipitation?

      • +3

You didn't receive a used iron. The water is from the iron being tested at the factory. @kol00
