Nrma insurance app is different to the road side assist app. When you install the insurance app you can log in and there is a banner inviting you to join the hub challenges for a first aid kit

Yes you need insurance though them. The free NRMA Blue membership does not count.
For whoever is wondering you need to download the NRMA Insurance app(not the same as the NRMA blue app), log in with your details, a banner will pop up in the top half talking about claiming a free first aid kit. Follow the instructions and just tap all the check boxes.
There will be a very subtle “red cross shop” link that appears, ignore the promo code they display you don’t need to know it.
Tap the link then hit “claim my first aid kit” and just enter your details. You don’t have to pay anything, shipping is covered.
As I said ignore the promo code that displays, I thought I needed to copy that and go to the proper Red Cross website and find the first aid kit there and copy it in. The first aid kid that you get is not available on their public facing website and the code won’t work. Just follow the very easy to miss link that shows up after you complete all the “challenges” within the NRMA insurance app.

I always read the name as MRNA
It came up as a prompt in the NRMA Insurance app, follow the link, complete the 3 challenged and you get a code + link to red cross to get the kit for free.

Didn’t really understand the check out. It said I was donating $5. Shipping was $10. But nothing to pay.For the donation you have to click "Add to cart", had the same confuse as well.

I used to have insurance with NRMA. Was still able to claim.
Hmm doesn't work for me - I do the three challenges and get the screen which says promo code unlocked and click through the "Red Cross Shop" link and then click the red "Claim my kit" link on the Red Cross Shop site but I just get the "Sorry the promo code has already been used or is already applied to your cart" message - but there's nothing in my cart and there appears to be no way to checkout, etc - perhaps they are all out?

When I pressed Claim My Kit, it takes me to the Red Cross website and says the promo is either invalid or has already been applied to your cart.

Managed to claim it just now. You must get the app that says "NRMA Insurance", not "My NRMA". Log in, go to the "Rewards" section, join the "Help Hub", then the Red Cross banner/ad will be there. Click on it, complete the challanges, then there will be a button to that takes you to the Red Cross site. Fill in your name, number, email and shipping details… and that's about it.

The T&Cs state that "any First Aid Kit enquiries to the Australian Red Cross via email at [email protected] or by calling 1800 733 276" if anyone is keen on following up with them.

Yes, also got one appear Friday, so confirm this is likely the reason.
To be fair the T&C’s on the Red Cross Shop page did state ‘Kits can take between 4-6 weeks to arrive’, so well within that at the moment.
