Nice find. They also have https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-rt-ax82u-v2-ax-5400-… for half price

I'm tempted to can my Kogan Internet branded TP link (it was free and I got what I paid for) and replace it with something decent

    • Good find, great modem.

      • +1

        Doesn't include a modem.

        • Sorry, router.

Eight Gigabit LAN ports make RT-AX88U the ideal solution

It does. If only this wasn't the 82!

    • did you link the right modem? I see the AX82U V2 linked for $250

Asus AX1800 are amazing routers with amazing range and can be used as a mesh system without using any ethernet wire to the nodes. Works flawlessly and connects to the nearest node instantly.
Really happy with these and awesome price though.
Better than using tplink routers in a mesh system where ethernet wire needs to be connected to the primary router.

    • My TPlink M5 Deco can run wirelessly or wired or a mix of both. The additional points have to be wired (if using wired) downstream from the primary router - but that's it, not necessarily wired to it directly or anything.

  • I am using a deco M9 plus as my NBN router (fixed wireless NBN) and wifi. Can I buy this Asus router and move my m9 plus to extend the wifi?

    • All Deco's are compatible with each other only, no other products - even from TP-Link - let alone a competitor.

  • No USB?

    • Yeah its a shame it doesn't have it. Anything like this around that price that does have USB?

  • Got one with $10 perky thks

  • These don’t have VLAN or guest network right?

  • Oooh cheap ai mesh node, this my biggest gripe with choosing aimesh, adding an extra node is over priced, this will do :)

  • Just snagged one over the phone with a price beat hehe. Can verify that I would also price beat in-store if asked. Thanks OP

  • Good price for a great router. Got it for $99 from JB during the Boxing Day sales.

  • To use as a aimesh node, will the RT-AX58U for $149 work any better than this RT-AX54HP?

  • Anyone have any experience's using one of these with TPG NBN? My TPG supplied modem is not that great

    • Surely it will work as I'm using it with opticomm fibre optic service.

  • Can it be used to swap Optus NBN modem?

  • Does this support Merlin? I'm not seeing it on their list. Was considering this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/783158 as an upgrade from the iiNet Buddii Lite, though that didn't support Merlin either.

  • Was gonna get the ax3000 but think this would be good enough for 50 less

    • Yeh that was a popular deal, now OOS.

  • Whats the range on this thing?

  • Should we get 2 and mesh or cheaper devices for mesh available?

  • Would getting 2-3 of these work better as a main router - mesh
Or my current setup of r7000 and deco m5
    All wired

  • Just curious setting this up is as simple as replacing my old router yeah?

  • 2 of these in mesh setup, or one of these?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/783403

I have 1Gbps connection at home.

Would be replacing Netcomm Nf18ac mesh setup.

  • Just called up OW, and they are saying they won't beat the JB price as it's listed for the same price now.

  • +1

This is currently $89 at OW.
It seems they haven't changed the price back to $179 after the JB deal ended.
