@pharcyde: You didn't say what exactly? That I was spreading misinformation, misinformation that you can't quantify or describe apparently.

n the adult world there's things called implications and inferences. Your comments are very easily interpreted.

Just by the by, since you've probably never bothered to read the NYT. You do understand that politics is usually a small part of their content right? Or is it that you object to the usually science/fact-based articles and opinions on issues such as covid, collective responsibility, climate change, and the like? In short, what is it about their content that you object to and can you provide some examples which support your case?

                      • @pharcyde:

                        I am not a crackpot.

And yet even now you continue to confirm what I wrote above. You support crackpot opinions and irrational conspiracy theories which don't have even a whiff of truth. Is that because your lack of knowledge of reality and credulousness makes Musky's waffle credible or because you're completely blinded by your ideology? I'd confidently guess both based on your comments and votes here.

If you fling too far to the left (or right) you risk viewership like what happened to Vice.

  • +2

I’d love to know which news source these haters in the comments suggest, that doesn’t lean left or right. As a swinging voter I quite like the NYT, although do acknowledge it leans left.

One think to note though, is they make it difficult to cancel when you get to the end of your 12 month. Be ready to argue with a chat bot.

    • that's the thing, they never provide any alternatives, just carry on how woke all these publications are

    • +3

They have all NEVER read the NYT in their entire lives. I don't agree with everything I've read from there, but overall it's a good publication.

      • +1

Well said. Like it or not it’s one of the worlds great papers.

I read the economist free from a local library. More balanced view IMHO.

    • +1

The economist is the best news source out there but you can’t compare reading magazines through Libby to online access.

Great deal, thanks op. Love “the daily” podcast by nyt very insightful.

thanks, thought $4/month was already a bargain

  • sub. thanks

  • Pay to get brainwashed.

    • Only if you're a credulous fool. Does right then left brainwashing bring you back into balance? If so I'll shout you a subscription.

  • This is great thank you. Easy way to try out the recipes and full games/puzzles. I've only had basic access previously and I'll be on the lookout next year for the same deal!

no way i'd get this, both lie through their teeth about ukraine. russians running out of missiles since march '23 ??? really? snake island story, ghost of kiev.. no way, not even for free. rubbish.

I clicked on the comments to see what better deal all the negs have found. Should have known better!

Heads up on NYT annual renewal … I originally subscribed at AUD $1/week. Near the end I called to cancel renewal and they offered $0.50/week for another year. Near the end of that year I did the same, and now paying $0.25/week

  • -2

If I wanted to read one eyed opinions pieces I would get plenty from ozb. Why pay?

    • +1

To educate yourself possibly, although education is best suited to open and fertile minds.

    Summary:

    Either
    "That's a bargain"
    or
"I'm all for free speech, but anything that doesn't fit my ideological worldview cannot be a bargain and I can't help but express my own free speech by saying so"

    • I'm all for free speech

      Yes.

but anything that doesn't fit my ideological worldview cannot be a bargain

Just my opinion (thanks to free speech). Much like you or others are entitled to openly disagree, upvote and share your views. The classic marxist/leftist action would be to complain to the mods and aim to silence competing views.

I can't help but express my own free speech by saying so"

Yes. Thanks to free speech. You obviously are not a fan of that.

      • Marxist? Lol, you clearly know sfa about Marxism, just as you know nothing about "the left".

        • you clearly know sfa about Marxism

I bet you know all about it chatbot 😂

          • @pharcyde: No, but I'd bet your house that I know FAR more than you, which is obviously no boast since all you "know" is the standard right wing nuptyism that LEFT=MARXISM=COMMUNISM

            • @Igaf: I'd like to bet your house but I don't think your landlord would approve of it.

              • @pharcyde: She wouldn't, although if she was a gambler and looked at your form in the betting guide she'd double the bet.

    • +1

Still not a single alternative offered by the neggers.

  • +2

I have an existing subscription and when I went through the cancellation process to switch to a new email address this offer was provided. Thanks for the headsup xd

  • This is a very good price. $20 a year would be well worth it for any of the cooking, sports or puzzle sections alone.

Thanks. Looks good and not the worst of the lot

  • Have you tried getting access to Press reader from your library? It doesn't have the NYT, but has Washington Post, WSJ, lots of UK/AU papers and a ton of worldwide magazines you can download as soon as they come out for free.

    • Do you use Press Reader? If Yes, City of Sydney library gives 30 days of complimentary access.

      Which library you use.?

  • I just wish there was a balanced (eg not murdoch et al) news paper in australia.

    • interested in who you think is balanced in USA and UK?

  • I can't find rhe NYT deal!
It offers me $20 for news only

Or the upgrade for 6 months at $2.40 per month then $25 per month.

I'm an existing subscriber. Any tips to find the $20 deal? Thanks
