Great Scale Allrounder for Espresso and Filter and doesn't break the bank

Usually $100 plus but $77 in Amazon Lighting Deal. 5hrs left or until fully claimed at time of writing this…

I have one and it is a good product and a great price. Good middle of the road if you don't want to invest in a Acacia Lunar or Felicita Arc (yet).

I'm awaiting my timemore grinder 078s from the Kickstarter deal and this will go well together.

You can see below the "regular" price is $99 and it is normally $100
White is at the original price $110

seems okay, but rechargeable batteries on a device like this is planned obsolescence. I've got Campos scales, replaceable batteries. IMO, something to consider because there's no need to replace a device like this ever (unless it breaks down)

    • +2

LiPo cells with USB C, doesn't seem to be a major concern to me. Charge it once a month it will last at least a decade.

      • There is no need to recharge scales since they use so little power. All it does is increase the price for no benefit to 99.999% of people and reduce the lifespan of the device.

seems expensive for scales that do down to .1g …..

    • +1

      Agree

    • This is the scale equivalent of those pain killers that pretend like they're meant for specific types of pain, even though the standard one is exactly the same thing but cheaper. Yeah you could buy this scale for $15, but this one measures COFFEE! It's a special kind of mass!

      • It is marketed as Coffee scales as it also has a timer so you can time your espresso shots as well as weighing them.

had a set of these and they shit the bed within a few months. i've had a set of the brewistas and they are still going strong with daily use almost 2 years later.

Got this scale from aliexpress for $60 shipped, in feb.

    • Yup same - great scales

    • Same. Got it last year.

Just an FYI: This seller only has 1 positive feedback, and apart from this listing, they typically do not sell any coffee-related accessories.

  • Had mine for about a year and been very happy with it until last week. Put it on charge and when I took it off it's now mental. If I syringe 10mL of water into a very light cup (zero'd), it reads 6g. If I syringe the same into a heavy cup (zero'd) it reads like 30g.

I cannot justify the cost of some of these coffee scales. I got the one below for under $20 several years ago and its still working well:

      OMG!!!
Thomson dual scales on Coles special $6
      bank not broken!

      • what is this thomson dual scales you are referring to?

        • -4

Oh I see there are so many different ways to make coffee.
I switched to capsules, simple, quick and yes there is better quality out
many ways to skin a cat.
Just come back from Coles with a $9.99 body fat scale. I guess I drink too much coffee fat?

      • You could go for a simple kitchen scales but I chose one with a timer as well so that I can weigh my espresso shots and also time them to gauge the consistency of my preparation.

  • Good scales. Running fine for 1.5 years.

  • I use this scale. Works great. Put group handle on it, switch on and it zeroes, take off handle and it shows negative weight in grams to 1 decimal place, fill from grinder and put it back on and there's your dose weight. $12. https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-digital-kitchen-scale…

I don't like these as they run on the coin batteries, eg. CR2032, so can't recharge or replace with another AAA like some other ones.

Bought this for $35 from Taobao. Nothing more than just the branding

    • That would have been a timemore clone perhaps?

      • Nope, it's the same model with same functionality and shipped with the same packaging as actual shelf product.

    • Can you share with me the link to that ?

          • @MrBillions: This should give you sufficient information to proceed on the next step

            https://www.howtotao.com/buy-from-taobao/

            • @xiukeong: thanks for your help
i think what i have done is selected consolidation as opposed to direct shipping so my parcel is now waiting for another parcel and then i can send both together combined to me? Is that what happened? Just running with google translate. Some of the translation is so funny eg. shows as 'baby' but probably means product or order…

              • @MrBillions: Yup. You can still choose to send it now for that item and then send the other one once it arrives, just that you're paying the shipping from warehouse to AU twice.

The language translation is a bit wonky but it is 95% accurate I would say.

                • @xiukeong: 该银行卡暂不支持支付这笔交易,请更换其他付款方式

apprenlty my credit card cannot be used..now i'm stuffed
package in storage but cannot ship to me coz they won't accept my card..

                  • @MrBillions: You used the same card to make the initial purchase of the items? Try remove the card and add again. Alternatively, you can contact the customer service and check with them. Don't worry about the language as they have English speaking person.

  • Bought a 20 dollar one from Ebay/Amazon (sameish price) so I can use it at work, while the other 20 dollar one of a different brand/type with same functions stays at home. I backed the Timemore 064s, so I don't have anything bad to say about the brand, but I mean… it's a scale and timer. The cheap stuff worked flawlessly for 2 years for 1/4 of the price.

WDT/espresso distributor, funnels, scales…all of these gadgets do the exact same job whether cheap or expensive.. buy any electronic scale that supports the weight you are after..from 10 to 30 dollars off ebay or amazon.. it is a scale as long as it is accurate why pay 70 bucks ? No accessory barring a basket is exclusively made for purpose ..the rest may help the workflow but from the cheapest to the most expensive do the same job… so an espresso scale is just another scale it measures weight .. save some money just buy a cheap accurate scale and use the cash to buy decent beans instead or a decent grinder

  • I have this. It's perfect. No issues whatsoever. Alternate from Amazon

    • +1

Well I got one for 8.80 before Covid hit and home made cofee became popular ..but the point is ..if you need to measure your payload ..find the cheapest scale which is accurate per reviews ..My 8.80 scale will measure the same as this 77 dollar scale and it has been 4 years of having this scale

      • +1

I have the same view. The cheapest with good accuracy. The one I bought is super consistent down to 0.1g.
PS: look for a cheaper alternate by matching items using the product photos 😀.

    • +1

Had issues with that so I ended up returning it (mine was way off when I was using it to measure coffee from the grouphead e.g., i'd zero it out but then once the machine starts brewing, the vibration then causes the scales to start displaying negative or positive figures even though the cup is empty).

Same issue is happening with another scale I bought from Amazon so might actually give this a go.

      • Interesting. Just use mine for dosing so it works fine for that. Might give it a go on the machine to see what happens. 😁.

  • Got the black mirror nano shipped for around $98, last week it could have been had for under $90 shipped from Aliexpress (probably still can, if the winter sale is on)

Yes you can have cheaper scales that do the job but I got this for the espresso mode, I like how the timer turns on by itself when pulling your shot and turns off when the flow stops.

  • And … any decent kitchen scales can't measure coffee?

  • Back to $99

  • youtube decided to serve this up to me. Comparison with high end acaia, timemore, and cheapo $20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgBawl2hNPQ

  • just got my acaia lunar and it it's just a massive difference to my neoweigh $20 and my timemore $77
i didn't think it was worth spending the extra bucks but once you have one any other scale will collect dust… no regrets here on the spend…

i also have a felicita arc on the way because it can hold two cups. Let's see how the felicita compares to the acaia…
