$1100 off Samsung S23 Series, $1000 off iPhone 14 Plus with The Good Guys Mobile $69/M 120GB/M 24M Plan (New/Port-in, in-Store)

870

To be eligible for The Good Guys credit, you must transfer an existing service from another provider (excluding JB Hi-Fi, or Boost, Telstra Prepaid) or connect a new number and sign up to an eligible The Good Guys Mobile Plan. Offer only available in store. Excludes online purchases, gift card purchases, The Good Guys Commercial, eBay Store, agency brands, and existing JB Hi-Fi, Telstra & Boost Pre-Paid customers. Offer not in conjunction with any other offers.

Hi,

First time posting the deal here, apologies if it isn't the best bargain phone deal out there but might be helpful for someone who is looking at Telstra Network.
I was looking for a good phone plan deal, unfortunately the JB Hi-Fi 12 months $69 plan for $500 seems like become history now.

I saw The Good Guys Telstra plan but seems like no one has posted yet.
It might not be the best there out there but seems a better deal compared to JB Hi-Fi plan.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series - $1100 off - $69/M for 24 Months
iPhone 14 Plus Series - $1000 off - $69/M for 24 Months

I was after Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the current price on The Good Guys is $1645. (Bonus Galaxy Watch 5 44mm LTE via redemption)
So upfront cost will be $545, $45 higher than the Harvey Norman Optus deal.
If you can find better prices, I think they might allow you to price beat to reduce the cost.

Other Sim plan only (but not really a bargain)
$700 eGift Card - $69/M for 24 Months
$1200 eGift Card - $99/M for 24 Months - Looks like they have removed it

  • Good deal. Equivalent of $550/year. Too bad it’s not for the (yet to be released) iPhone 15

    • Don't worry - it sounds like the iPhone 15 isn't going to be able to bring a lot of the things hoped for to fruition, so its probably going to be pretty much the same as the IP14

      • +5

Which was the same as iPhone 13. Time to wait for the iPhone 16 then haha

        • +3

Which was the S version of the iPhone 12 LOL

      • +2

Only good thing is finally usb c
Not sure whether that’s a good enough reason to upgrade from 11

        • MagSafe???

          • @indian81: Then need to upgrade charger..

            • @WhyAmICommenting: There’re actually many accessories that support MagSafe. Like case, wallet etc

          • @indian81: Can someone please explain to me the benefit of Magsafe over fast wireless charging? I don't know that much about it, but on the surface, you need an ugly add on for your phone case or phone, and a different charging cable with the Magsafe clip on the end? What's the benefit of it over rapid fast wireless charging?

            • @[Deactivated]: The apple leather case are pretty good case and is Magsafe compatible. But no you don't need case, the phone itself is Magsafe compatible.

My main liking on the Magsafe is because I can use magnetic mount (eg. on cars) pretty easily while still having access to the lightning port for fast charging. The magnet is pretty strong and has been pretty reliable on cars. Also sometimes its just easy to charge with magnet and not worry about plugging. I charge with cable only when I really need the fast charge.

              • @John: Gotcha! Thanks for that mate. Was just curious as I've never used it but often use fast wireless charging, so was wondering what made people go Magsafe over that.

                Cheers!

            • @[Deactivated]: I’m using MagSafe wallet and found it useful. No need to carry extra wallet if you can survive with up to 3-4 cards when you are out.

        • Switching from USB-C to lightning will be a dream come true!

        • Without question.

      • +1

        Hahahaha

        Lol

This is the big one, get rid of $#@ing lightning cables

I really want a new s23 ultra but my note 10+ is still holding up well, it's just the battery that is pretty much beat

    • Same, my note 10+ is doing great. Kogan plan all good for $12.50 a month. Don't know how I haven't cracked the front screen yet! Getting dropped daily in a spigen tough armour.

    • My Note 10+ is also doing well other than the power button falling out….

  • Can you get the bonus 700$ gift card as well? I'm confused. Where does it say only one of the deals can be used?

BONUS $700 eGift Card (K) Deal

Deal available on connection. Ends 28 June

BONUS $1100 Off (K)^ Samsung Galaxy Deal

Deal available on connection. Ends 28 Jun

    • Standard T&C stuff. Point 2

Offer not in conjunction with any other offer.

    • These things never stack… OzB would be all over it otherwise.

  • Damn, would have been a deal. Thanks!!!

  • Says the $1000 iPhone 14 plus deal ends "Jun 5". Hmm?

  • Damn, just did same deal 3 days ago with optus / harvey norman…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/782245

    • I was planning to get optus / harvey norman deal yesterday but the staff told me that you need to out of optus for 3 months (as I thought will work if I port out from optus for few days), anyway you still get better price but with optus.

      • +1

They say that but its lies. I did it same afternoon. 4pm switch to voda. 5pm at Harveys and come back to optus. I also paid $99 for 256gb model upgrade. Guy even gave me a $100 Harvey voucher, he said he doesnt know if ges supposed to, but they got them from Samsung so hes handing them out.

Trick is to put the voda sim in an unlocked phone, you need an sms confirmation to port numbers. Also the $2 packs need a $10 recharge ($12 total) so buy the $10 pack and save $2 like a true ozbargainer.

        • In that case, its optus/harvey norman loss. Not sure why they want to lose the customer like that.
Anyway good on you getting extra $100 gift card, i thought a lot of people reporting that they won't give out.
Even though there isn't any fine print about it.

    • I just messaged optus chat and the lady said I can get a 20 a month off bonus for 12 months for porting over. I will go to HN and see if they actually honour that.

      • Can you explain this please? I am with Optus now and want to get this deal. Thanks in advance.

        • For new port ins so if u r with them already u wont get it. Though if u changed to telstra u would likely get it with them

      • I might message optus chat and ask if they will give some off. Worked for aussie broadband for 12 months when i asked them.

      • Did you ask the Optus agent to apply $20 off? Or should it be added by Harvey Norman's sales rep?

        • The lady at optus said they would apply it at HN but just spoke to HN and they said she was wrong -_-

          • @steve0123: Ohk, thanks for the confirmation. maybe it's better to go with this Goodguys plan and try to convince Telstra online agent to apply for a $10 credit.

  • Any Flip 5 deals?

  • Can you price match the iPhone? Jb is currently offering $200 the retail price of iPhone 14Plus.

    • +1

      Definitely

      • Awesome. This sound like a very very good deal. I have an iPhone 14 pro so may sell this to someone.

  • so how much would a s23 ultra be im a little confused seems like your stuck with the plan because it says any cancellation or changing to a cheaper plan means you pay back the voucher

  • These are much better than the current JB Hi FI deals, especially for people needing phones.

  • -1

Looks like a good deal for the iPhone 14 plus?! Thanks!

  • +2

Does this deal have a cancellation potential? T&C a little confusing hence asking for clarification. Thanks!

  • I assume the iphone 14 plus is 128gb?

    • I think other iphone 14 plus storage is also included, just need to pay the different

  • Technically you could get the plus with this deal, then change upgrade plus to a Pro (box unopened) - anyone tried that yet?

    • Nah you can't AFAIK, maybe a couple years ago you still can but now that loophole is closed. Your phone is marked with Telco deal in the system which is not eligible for return or swap. I've tried that and done that before

Better approach is to ask whether you could get a pro before you sign the deal(the chances is slim)

      • What do you mean‘I’ve tried that and done that before’

You mean you’ve tried to return the phone and was decline?

        • I've done it a couple years ago, and I've tried last year with no success.

          • @yummypinacolada: Ah they just changed it last year. Have you tried again this year?

            • @AirJordan23: I'm done trying mate, no reason for them to open the loophole again. Last year tried with 5 different stores, all rejected and ended up having to sell my Galaxy Fold for loss.

Unfortunately, with iPhone discount offered by JB is usually the same as they are offering gift card(no bonus like android phone), which I think best offered at $89p/m(24m) for $1200 gift card.

Also if you're thinking to cancel the plan, you better just look for an outright deal. They closed all loopholes that Ozbargain has known.

              • @yummypinacolada: Yeah, YMMV form store to store. They’re really cracking down on these return thing.

Thank for the information you have provided.

  • +2

Is there an ETC on this? CIS only says paying $431.25 max voucher fee if cancelled within first month of plan.

    So a Galaxy s23 Ultra is $1645 - $1100 + 431.25 + 69 = $1045.25

And if you can sell the watch for around $300…

Could be around $700 for the Ultra?

    • +1

Yeah, i am wondering what the extra "voucher" is as part of the T&cs… if that is specific to Telstra to provide to us, this is a pretty good deal.

    • Voucher repayment fee $431.25 + 1st month upfront $69 - $500.25 total cost if you cancel within the 1st month..

      • Is this confirmed? Just went to TGG and they said I'll have to pay the $1,100 if I do cancel my plan.

        • That’s incorrect. Just look at the plan CIS. Max fee is the $431.25 plus the 1st month as the plan is paid upfront. The phone is outright from TGG and they cannot chase you for any money. Only Telstra for the max $431.25 ETC

          • @lppepper: The plan CIS has incorrect values for the voucher though.

Using handy maths, that information has you paying back 23/24ths of the voucher as minimum. Which makes sense as minimum cost is 1 month of payment.

So you can assume your voucher fee is pro-rata'd based on how long you keep the service,

            • @buckster: The voucher amount in the CIS is the standard value - any offer over and above does not change the voucher repayment fee. That fee is set and does not change if the offer provided a voucher or discount higher than $450 on the $69 BYO plan.

              • +1

@lppepper: Fair, there is reference to the "base voucher".

                Good to have clarified cheers

                • @buckster: "The base voucher" is mentioned in Section 6.3, but where is the definition about "The base voucher", is it referred in any sections?

                  The Section 6.2 & 6.3:
6.2 If you received a The Good Guys Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding amounts for the The Good Guys Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher Repayment Fee).

6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-
                  month Voucher Term, then in:
                  (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
                  (b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
                  (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.

                  • @GlobalCitizen: Am I correct in understanding that the $1100 will have to be paid if the plan is cancelled?

                    • @FiloGuy: Don't think so. "The Good Guys eGift Card Terms and Conditions" only says "you'll need to pay a Voucher Repayment Fee". See the words below. The only think confused me is "the base voucher" referred in TTG's terms. Once we know the amount of the base voucher, we could figure it out the whole puzzle. I am asking TGG's agents, but looks like they have totally no idea what are TGG's terms and what is "the base voucher". TGG's agents definitely need more training :/.

The Good Guys eGift Card Terms and Conditions (Under TC apply https://thegoodguys.sirv.com/Content/2023FY/MobileAndBroadba…):

                      1. To be eligible for a The Good Guys credit, you must transfer an existing service from another
provider (excluding JB Hi-Fi, or Boost, Telstra Prepaid) or connect a new number and sign up
                        to the following plan.
                        • $1100 off Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ or S23 Ultra when you sign up to the:
$69 The Good Guys Mobile BYO Upfront Plan [23.6.2023 to 28.6.2023]

The connection will entitle you to $850 off the purchase of a single handset from the
Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ or S23 Ultra range from The Good Guys stores. It's not
transferable or redeemable for cash (including any unused part). If you cancel or move to a
lower cost plan then you'll need to pay a Voucher Repayment Fee pro-rated against the
remaining months of your plan’s minimum term.

              • @lppepper: Bro, where did you find this definition? Could you post a link about it? Cheers

        • I am a little confused as well. I believe the final outright price for an s23 ultra if you cancel within the first month is:
          1645 - $1100 + 431.25 + 69 = $1045.25

But hoping someone can confirm this.

          • @Jul92: Just got answer from TGG, this is the reply:

"Thanks for waiting, I have checked the critical information summary and it shows that it was the old voucher sample computation."

Looks like the CIS is wrong. the Max Voucher Repayment Fee is $110023/24= 1054.1666666667 instead of 45023/24=431.25.

            • @GlobalCitizen: So that must be the entire value to be repaid? Seems to not change any assumptions made above besides the definition of the voucher, since the voucher becomes the total ETC (plan break fee + TGG's compensation for the upfront phone discount).

              $1100 * 23/24= 1054.1666666667 instead of 450 * 23/24=431.25

              • +1

@Techie4066: Yeah, the Max Voucher Repayment Fee is around $1054 instead of $431.25 they mentioned on the CIS. So if you got an s23 ultra and you cancel within the first month is:
                1645 - $1100 + 1054 + 69 = $1668

                Not:

                1645 - $1100 + 431.25 + 69 = $1045.25

                • @GlobalCitizen: Thanks, ah of course, I forgot about the upfront price paid for the phone in-store. Seems the Hardly Normal deal w/ free storage upgrade at launch was the winner for those without phone allowances. Although that's not to say you couldn't get the same net price by selling the Watch5 for $300, so it's a good deal for all models in base storage.

        • +4

Update: Bought earlier today the S23 Ultra. $1645-1100 = $545 paid at store.

Cancelled with Telstra live chat not long ago. Agent stated cancel fee $431.25, if i wanted to proceed. Went ahead, will send me invoice. If no pay, will auto-deduct within 10 business days using the direct debit details that charge the $69. ($69 was charged immediately in the store from my cc).

Good guys did mention 1100 is the voucher, however even the Telstra contract printed out says $450 voucher. I played dumb all the way

Have redeemed watch. Hope comes soon.

Hope it all works out for me and you!

          • @Kuro: Thanks Kuro, that is great. I will try this tomorrow. Was just tossing up between this deal vs JB deal as i look to cancel the plan right away.

            • @Jul92: Any one else other than kuro tried cancellation as well? Just sceptical still

  • Does this work for existing Telstra customers?

    • Port in only I think?

    • Keen to know if anyone has done it.

I’ve done it a few years ago with JB. I was able to port out for a few minutes and then port straight back in and get the deal. JB staff were very helpful in organising it.

I believe they’ve tightened up the eligibility now and you need to port away for a longer time. This discount makes it worthwhile trying tho.

      • Curious about how to do this also. I have one Telstra mobile and one Woolworths mobile, I'd be keen to take this offer for both and could port in/out but not sure if/how it works.

        • Ported out today. Ported back in to TGG deal tonight. Worked fine.

  • $139 early termination charge to cancel my current $69 JB mobile plan.

Get a free galaxy S23, sell immediately, profit $800 at least?

What am I missing here? 😂😂

  • -2

Guessing Telstra will also give you the new customer port in bonus on this after signup as well making it actually $49/mo?

    • Isn't that only a $10/month discount making it $59/mo?

      • I believe it’s $20/month?

        • +1

Would be nice. Could you share more info on how to access this additional monthly bonus for new port ins?

          • @KingOfTheJuice: I used that offer 2 years ago but not sure if it is still applicable.

  • JB Deal is over ?
How much effectively you have to pay for s23 ultra, if you cancel the same day ?

    • 1649 - 1100 + 69 + 450 = 1068 appx.

      • Will you still be eligible to get the Watch if you cancel?

        • Watch is from Samsung for the purchase o mobile and has nothing to do with mobile plan, so in short no issues

      • 450 is early termination fees ?

  • I bought S23 Ultra 256gb from JB Hifi just week ago.
Deal was 1400$ off if I take 89$(99$ original) Telstra plan (300gb data) for 24 months. Original price of phone was 1649$ after 300$ discount from Samsung.

    So I got my phone on : 1649$ - 1400$ - 100$(got gift card as well JB Hifi) = 149$ and 2136$ of Telstra plan 24 months.

    Total Cost = 2285$

You have to ask for gift card because they will say it can't be given with this deal. I told people are getting on OZBargain.

    • And if you were to terminate plan? What is the payout?

  • -3

Is it $69/m including the phone and the plan?

  • What's the total out of pocket cost for s23+ ?

  • Hi there. Is it definitely the case for $99 per month for 24 months with $1200 gift card? Can't find it online.

    • Looks like they have remove it. I have update this post to prevent confusion.

  • Guys can someone please tell me once and for all what are the costs I'll run into if I get the S23 ultra 256gb and I terminate the contract on the same day or next day? Isn't there a minimum termination fees for the plan Itself?(which is already over 1600$?) Please can someone clearly confirm this?
