  • I've been using this in a 4g pocket modem, using 4 to 500 gb a month for at least a couple of years and today I get an email;

"We’re writing to inform you that we’ve detected unauthorised usage on your felix account. This is in breach of our SFOA and Fair Use Policy.
We request that you immediately cease using your felix SIM in a non-mobile voice device, otherwise your service will be suspended within 7 days."

It's no problem of course to whack it into an old phone but I wonder, why now?

  • I've been thinking of switching to this deal and running it off an old phone. Any recommendations for a wifi router to use at home for 2-3 people that I can tether the phone and have it charging as well?

  • I also just got a warning that I would be cut off within 7 days.

  • Gone up to $40/m. Existing users still get $35/m, pretty great and rare these days from companies! Edit: from 20th/SEP

    Price Increase email:

    Hi There,

We're reaching out to let you know that our $35 plan will be increasing soon to $40/mth from the 20th of September, however, in good news your felix subscription will remain the same at $35/mth.

At felix, we're committed to doing the right thing by our valued customers, and that's why we're not increasing the price for our existing customers. Following the price increase, we will apply an ongoing $5 discount to your account. This ensures you can continue to enjoy the mobile plan you know and love, at the same price you are currently paying.

    Important notes about this change:

•There's no action required from your end. The ongoing $5 credit will be automatically applied.

•Your plan inclusions will remain the same. Any existing discounts, add-ons and benefits you may have on your account will not change.

•Our commitment to the planet remains the same. For every month you stay with us, we'll continue to plant one tree on your behalf.

If, at any point, you decide to renew your service after a period of inactivity such as pausing, cancelling or an unsuccessful payment for 60 days or you make changes to your felix subscription, you'll no longer be entitled to the ongoing $5 monthly credit and will be required to pay the new increased price of $40/mth.

While we intend for this to be an ongoing monthly credit, it is subject to change and if we do make any changes we will let you know at least 30 days in advance.

Thank you for continually supporting felix, we truly appreciate your loyalty and support.

    • Does that mean the data speed will change?

From my understanding - speed / data staying the same just the price increasing from $35 a month to $40

  • Just thought I would mention to Huawei users if anyone has heard that I think in parts of the USA they have banned the use of these phones and Oz has yet to acknowledge this policy. Apparently now it's a concern for privacy and security concerns as the phones made in China. Slowly but surely, they are wiping them out all over.
I actually bought one for over $600 about 6mths ago and was assured all was ok etc with the mobile's security. I am not surprised to now find out that it 'could' be a concern for the US. Understandably IMO.
I know my Huawei is worth nothing really as a trade in as I wanted a fold phone but wouldn't even get $100 for it as a trade in so I am a bit annoyed at its worth really.
Anyway, this maybe a bit off topic but noticed the use of the Huawei phone and I'm going to change to a mobile not made in China as I am sure Oz will follow the US in this. Just thought I would mention it to others.

    • i wouldn't pay attention to that, it's purely political. NSA surveillance operates on much more extensive scale and capability than your friendly communists. neither will care about your cat pics or shopping lists anyway
