      Tell me another airline which had a sale this year from;
Melbourne - Honolulu return for $299
Melbourne - Bali return for $199
Melbourne - Tokyo return for $299
Melbourne - Osaka return for $299
Cairns - Tokyo return for $199
Melbourne - Souel for $399 return
Melbourne - Singapore Business Return for $899
Melbourne - Singapore Return for $299

Has a modern 787-8 fleet instead of a Virgin 737-700 for long haul operations.
Had the lowest cancellation rate of services on routes with only 1 daily flight serviced according to BITRE. (Excluding QantasLink and Qantas Mainline)
Beat a full service mainline carrier (Virgin Australia) on International services in both delays and cancellations when operated on an A321neo or B788 against a B738/B38M according to BITRE (Arrival ports into WADD, RJTT/RJAA).

You all expect a full service flexible fare on an airline thats a low cost carrier. If you want to fly Virgin or Qantas, be my guest but keep your expectations in line with what you pay for. especially in the aviation industry

Irrelevant, if they cancel your flghts.

Limited changes can be made once booked.

    That's not true.

Jetstar made many, many, many changes once booked.

    • +5

Changes? You mean delays and cancellations

      • +6

        delays and cancellations

        Both of those are 'changes'…

Hoping for a midyear sale on flights like in 2022!

      ?

In 2022 there were good sales on flights. Bearlion is hoping to see a return of those same low low prices.

"Children (2-11 years) must use existing bedding unless otherwise specified."

This is for the hotel, but what about the flight, e.g., 2 adults and a child? I believe we need to buy another flight ticket, right?

    • +2

It's a package deal and if

Kids stay and eat for free in existing beds.

shouldn't they be included in the flight ticket as well as long as they sit in the same seat !
I want to know as well for two adults and two kids. My wife always thinks we are friends, it's time to show that to the world.

    • Need to know this too…for kids need to buy flights separately…

      • You need to buy altogether because the hotel needs to be booked under the same booking. Kids will benefit from the 2 for 1 discount (unless you are flying as 3 people).

  • thanks

  • +10

These "from" prices can't be obtained. I checked flight separately and entered the cheapest possible prices into the holidays section and it was still showing $200-300 more than "from" prices. And they were within "valid dates"

  • How can we see available dates that are advertised as the lowest price?

    • Very difficult apparently. I spent ages checking dates and never found anything within 600 dollars of the advertised rate (for melb to Adelaide)

    • You have to keep trying dates until you see the friend fly free tag next to the flight.

      • oh wait so you have to see that on the flights or it's not eligible? The website doesn't exactly make that clear

  • +3

Might never get there with Jetstar…no thanks

Friend doesn't let friend fly Jetstar

  • Any example dates OP?

I thought the crime is running rampant in Alice Springs

    • +2

Uluru is not the same as Alice Springs. Uluru has its own little loop of hotels and is roughly a 5 hour drive from Alice Springs.

  • Tempted, is Jetstar really that bad?

    • +1

It's not that bad at all… in my experience. I've only had a couple cancelled flights, the rest were delayed only by a an hour or two at most.
But yeah you get waht you pay for.

  • +2

My 2c over the years, I've flown most of the major domestic airlines. In my experience, Jetstar always had cancelled flights, delayed (up to 12h) etc. Tried it again a few years since the rest of the fam booked. Flight cancelled last minute. That was the last time I ever considered flying Jetstar.

I avoid Jetstar at all costs. Might be better now. It I've been burnt too many times…

  • -3

Are they doing a discount for pride month?

  • -4

The price suggests that they're targeting a Chinese market.

  • Good prices, shame about the airline. Would jump on it if it were another carrier

  • What days for the deal to get 790, the days I picked is almost 3000

    • Usually the worst. Wednesday till Saturday worked for me or maybe Friday till Tuesday if you are lucky.

      • true, i did look up thursday-sunday.

  • +1

I don't understand how to get this deal. Do you book 1 traveller and add the "free" passenger later or do you book 2 travellers from the get go?

    • Same. Have seen these sales over years and have been stuck at how I seem to be the only one who doesn't get, how to use it say for couple to get buy 1 get 1

      • Ok, thanks. Makes sense - so finding those "Friend flies for free" dates is quite hit and miss. Typical Jetstar obfuscation. If someone was to make a data mining script to scrape all the dates available they'll be an instant an Ozbargain hero.

Here is how to use this confusing site. The lack of price breakdowns of the cost of flights and hotels is quite off putting but there are good deals to be found.

    1. Browser the list of hotels. Note that the price shown is the cheapest room paired with the cheapest flight, so it may not be available.

    2. Select a hotel (you must stay in the same place until your return flight).

    3. Put in all passengers and dates to check availability. Note that many hotels only offer rooms for 2, so if you are a group, there may be no availabilities unless you split the booking.

    4. It will now show flights (but without the prices!). If the flight has "friend flies free" on it, the 2 for 1 discount will be factored into the final price. Otherwise it is not part of this deal. Note, some dates do not have any sale fares despite being in the travel period.

    5. Select the hotel room. The price shown next to the room is the total price including flights. I did an estimate comparison of hotel rates with other booking sites and it seems the Jetstar package is cheaper or equal to the discounted last minute prices.

    6. Finalise and pay. This step I admit was a good user experience because it just books the whole package for you and you are set. No hidden costs, no up selling.

  • I have a long weekend ool to adl and got twin share at Stamford Plaza. I paid $648

  • Is the carry on limit 7KG each for the 2 adults, or 7kg total?

Bit confusing as they have a message stating

    "We have strict carry-on limit
We monitor weight and size limits at the airport.
Unless you have purchased extra carry-on, your carry-on limit is two items a total weight of 7kg."

But then they appear to have a section that shows each adult gets the 7kg :/

I find it funny people complain so much about Jetstar.
You get what you pay for… $199 return flights to Bali or $399 return flights to Tokyo or Honolulu
Dont expect the same quality of service as a $5000 flexible return Qantas Economy ticket.

    • 100% I've flown them many times and not had any issues, and the funny part is I've had delays and issues with Qantas and other airlines. Just the luck of the draw really.
