Tidal HiFi Family (6 Users) Monthly Arg$145/~A$0.84, HiFi Plus Family Arg$225/~A$1.31 (VPN Argentina Req)

2940

**TIDAL HAS INCREASED ALL PRICES AUG 2023 - FAMILY HIFI PLUS (6 USERS) IS NOW 890 ARS OR $4.87 AUD / MONTH **. If you can find 6 people to share, still a killer deal for lossless better than CD quality streaming compared to Spotify. Ignore prices below.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - $0.84 a month, Tidal Family Hifi Plus (6 Users) - $1.31 a month. For single user plans, it's currently $0.58 a month for Hifi and $0.84 for Hifi Plus. Aug 1st 2023 price increase for Single Users: Hifi 380 ARS/ $2.22 a Month. Hifi Plus 570ARS/ $3.33AUD a Month. There is no price increase notice yet for Family plans.

Note: You don't need a VPN for playback, just during signup. After signup, you can switch off your VPN and use Tidal streaming as normal on any device anywhere.

Tidal Hifi - CD quality 16-bit/44.1 kHz, 1411kbps Lossless. (Best for 99.9% of the population, 4 x better Bitrate than Spotify).

Tidal HiFi Plus - MQA 24-bit/96 kHz, 9216kbps Lossless. (Seriously not needed unless you have compatible high end audio gear).

Spotify (For comparison) - 320kbps Lossy (Compressed).

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Use Tunnel Bear, PIA, Surfshark, etc)
2. Click on Ozbargain link. Single user plan top of page, Family Plans scroll down. Choose Hifi or HiFi Plus.
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, retry or try a different VPN. (Important)
4. Click through the registration process on the plan you want. Note: If it shows $145 in the later steps don't worry, the system means ARS 145.
5. Turn off VPN on Credit Card page as payment will not go through with VPN on. (Important)
5. Mastercard worked fine for me. Some have mentioned Visa Credit Card's don't work. See below for other Credit Card options.
6. After sign up, verify your email address (email will be in Spanish).
7. You no longer need the VPN and can use Tidal on any device normally.

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.

UPDATES FROM COMMENT SECTION:

  1. If you use NordVPN, it doesn't correctly connect to Argentina and fails to show ARS currency. Use Tunnel Bear VPN instead.
  2. VISA Credit Card seems to not work. Verified working credit cards are Mastercard, 28 degrees Latitude, Coles Credit Card, Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost plus some other brands of cards, see comments.

@King Steuart: We can all view the revisions.

CD Quality lossless streaming butchers what you get from Spotify.

What is your issue with that usage?

              • @Diji: It's implying CD quality lossless streaming is worse than Spotify.

                • +1

@King Steuart: "The man butchers cats."

Does this sentence imply that the man is being mauled by cats?

                  • @Diji: It implies that he breaks the cat apart and makes it worse than it used to be.

I do appreciate educating everyone on this phrase but this will be my last comment in this thread.

                    • @King Steuart: You're the kind of person who tries to "educate" people when they say that something "destroys the competition" when it doesn't literally eliminate the competing product, aren't you? Or are you just trying to save face? In which case, take your own advice:

Just own your mistake and move on, mate.

Also your previous comment doesn't hold with this interpretation:

It's implying CD quality lossless streaming is worse than Spotify.

@Diji: English is not everyone's first language so just excuse him.

@King Steuart: No mate, I edited the whole post to make sure people who cannot read properly don't misunderstand. Nothing to be ashamed of.

  • For the family plan, do the extra users need to sign up via VPN as well?

    • Did you read the post?

      • +1

        Sorry overlooked this part:

Advice if using family plan as per member outofgamut comment from the previous deal: When you invite “family” members to the plan they MUST click through / connect to Tidal via VPN to Argentina for their confirmation following the invite or they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use without VPN following that.

        Thanks for being so kind!

        • You might have a point actually. Not sure if the account has to be created on a VPN or just accepted on a VPN.

My guess is both, which isn’t covered in the OP.

          • +1

@PainToad: It has to be created on VPN too.

When creating an account, Tidal binds the account to that country and it can't be changed. Just had to do it myself for family members.

    • +1

Family members don't need to 'sign up', you just send them an 'Invite link' BUT they have to be on VPN Argentina to click the link and register their 'Family'. After registering, they can use Tidal without VPN. Just use Tunnel Bear VPN for all your family members to register them via links and that's it, switch off VPN.

But of a pain listening to Tidal on my car. Not sure why but Spotify auto play as soon as I turn the car keys, whereas with Tidal I need to manually open the app and hit play. I’m thinking to switch back to Spotify using the turkey deal because of this

Also I reckon Tidal algorithm is not as good as spotify

    • My Tidal autoplays using Android Auto.

    • +2 - I have Spotify (not for much longer after this deal!) and when I turned on the car AA started playing Spotify. Changed to Tidal on HU screen, next time I got in the car AA started playing Tidal.

  • I've tried paying with a Wise visa, an Australian visa, and a US mastercard, and each time it tells me that the card can't be used. Any ideas? The charge is not showing up as declined on my bank end.

Your transaction could not be completed. This could be due to incorrect credit card details, an expired credit card, or restrictions from your bank. Please try again or use a different credit card. If you still have problems, please contact the bank that issued your card.

    • How about an Australian MasterCard?

      • I haven't tried that one yet because I don't have one available haha… Maybe that's my problem

        • Same boat, no mastercard

          • @starspawn: Lattitude 28 degrees and Coles credit card mentioned in comments works also and some other brands and also prepaid cards.

    • +4

For me the one-time Revolut Mastercard works to pay.

(obviously only once, next month you get a couple of warning mails that your subscription is finished and transfer didn't work. Wait until it actually logs you out because you didn't pay and then readd the card. Adding it any earlier won't work because the payment is then scheduled to be 1-2 days later at which the one-off card isn't working anymore)

      • for those considering Revolut :
It does cost additional to use Revolut .. .around $10 per month, (slightly cheaper if you go for an Annual fee structure) : but even with the Revolut service charge added in its still cheaper than the standard oz Tidal pricing structure.

        • No, the standard, basic, version is for free including generating one-time credit card numbers. The premium plan is 10$/month but that one is not needed in this case.

Not sure about the currency conversion rate, but last month I paid 145 ARS for 0.96 $

          • @linkser: that's especially good info to know .. i'm sure i was unable to get a Mastercard without opting for the premium (and saw advisories by other people or maybe on the Revolut website faq's to that effect also), that Visa was the sole option available on standard accounts… will attempt using standard for the next renewal cycle . Cheers

      RBA entered the chat.

  • Worked for me with Westpac Mastercard using encrypt.me. Thank ms OP

  • Is there a way to pay for a full year? 80c is fantastic of course but what happens in following months? Thx for another great write up!

    • +2

Doesn’t look like it. I’ve gone through the Support pages and looked at practically every subscription-related page, and zero mention of any yearly options.

  • I have been using Tidal, not Spotify, for a while from Argentina. Works flawlessly, their currency is going down so it's even cheaper now. The only issue is their communication emails are in foreign language. Otherwise, all good on the app.

Does anyone know anything about the future of Tidal Masters and the FLAC support on this platform?

    • What have you been paying on average?

      • Average is around 1$, depending on Argentina's currency

        • I got an email today, they're raising price to 3.43$ or 570 Argentina Pesos

    • Does anyone know anything about the future of Tidal Masters and the FLAC support on this platform?

MQA is going to be gradually replaced by Hires FLAC. They are currently testing this on the iOS beta version of the app and are planning to go live in August. https://www.reddit.com/r/TIdaL/comments/14m6j5o/hires_flac_i…

      • +1

I feel like I have been lied to, had to buy an MQA DAC. I am so glad this is happening.

  • -1

What is the song availability on Spotify? I don't listen to pop songs etc

    • +3

I too am more into snap and crackle than pop.

    • +1

      This is Tidal, not Spotify

    • that have a 30day free trial

  • Does anyone know if I can pay upfront for a year or is the monthly subscription the only option?

    Thanks.

  • +2

    Thanks OP!

EA Play Pro is around 15000 ARS (or $60 aud) per year, might be worth doing a deal on it too? Access to all the latest EA Games like Judi Survivor

    • Whoa that's not bad! Stack it on the Xbox Live Ultimate thing and wouldn't need to buy any games for quite a while!

  • -4

Would NOT recommend tidal, even at these prices

Worst customer service, renowned for charging people even after they’ve cancelled subscription, almost impossible to get money back smh

It’s really not worth the headache imo

    • I guess I'll just be aware then

    • +1

Must be a headache to chase them up for $1

      • +1

        Not my 60 cents!

    • Talking of customer service, will they treat us as Turkey People

  • +2

I signed up 6 weeks ago and my Macquarie card was successfully charged for the first time recently, no issues.

  • +2

Been using this since July 2021. Gotta use a Mastercard now as some law created in Argentina last year means only Argentinian Visa cards can be used for payment. If you’re into higher quality audio, it’s brilliant. Has all the music I ever search for. And for this price it’s insane. Love it

  • +1

For those who got the Plex deal, it included Plexamp to stream your Plex Music library.

I have found my music library to play more of the bigger bands, it always feels like the streaming apps only want to play the cheapest content and not major artists.

The downside is they restrict Plexamp for anyone not under your home account, which I don't agree with.

    • +14

Plex amp really whips the llamas ass

      • +2

I'm old enough for that reference

  • Are their curated playlists any good?

  • +2

Is it possible to purchase for a whole year or more?

    • +3

Doesn't seem to be, at the moment. I can foresee the rug being tugged at (if not pulled completely) slowly and surely. Till then, Viva Argentina!

  • Any overseas or digital tax charged (eg Netflix tax) ?

  • Would Spotify have a similar price doing this method via Argentina?

  • +1

PIA vpn works too. as does 28deg/latitude. well we'll see after the 30 day trial ends.

  • +7

worked with coles cc, thanks - probably paying $15 a month for netflix, youtube premium, spotify, tidal, apple icloud, ms 365 thanks to currency exploits LMAO

    • Covered by 4x boost numbers

  • Signed up, and I have no idea why. I can't distinguish between audio from a 2k speaker setup versus my age old creative stereo speakers. Damn you ozbargainers.

  • From last deal, they couldn't charge my CC and stopped using it.
I am OK with youtube premium now.

  • Looking to get adopted - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784329 - my credit cards didn't work last time but willing to be a part of someones family this time

  • Thanks OP, follow the steps and got working this time.

  • +3

Bought it and tried moving my playlists from YT Music over to Tidal.
My favourite playlist has 265 songs, Tidal only had 154 of those (111 missing).

My "likes" playlist has 1215 songs, Tidal only had 839 of those (376 missing).

Apart from the high quality songs, it's hard to justify moving to Tidal exclusively over more mainstream stuff. It'd be awesome if they offered a wider library but made clear that it's low quality, with a few in high quality only…

    • In the last 6 months Tidal has seriously increased it's song library to match Spotify to now being pretty much not far behind. And many new top hit music actually release on Tidal months before Spotify now. The next 6 months I think Tidal will take over in size of library due to Spotify delaying their 'HiFi' tier plans.

      • +1

The thing for me, though is that I'm not a pop/hip-hop guy.

I'm more of a Metal, Power Metal, Symphonic Metal, and old-school Rock and Roll fan, so I'm getting the short end of the stick.
I realise I'm in the minority, though, but it doesn't make it any less annoying that I can't simply replace YT Music (previously Google Music) with this from now on, as I like having the majority - if not all - of the library in high quality audio…

  • Sadly no google home integration so you can't ask google to play a specific song

    • Or it seems Alexa either, bugga I just signed up because it works in US.

      • +2

To get this working with Alexa, you need to change your Alexa to US temporarily. Then the tidal option will appear. Once you have set it up, you can switch back to AU.

        • Ah cheers!

I get TuneIn, but no Tidal.
I assume you mean change Alexa/All Device location and not to deregister & re-registered with a Amazon US account?

    • There are ways to integrate Tidal with Google Home but yea it's a bit of a faff at the moment. Probably will be 'officially' fixed soon.

  • Thank you very much, glad I didnt take the Spotify deal.

    • glad I didnt take the Spotify deal.

      Still no HiFi

      • It says HiFi (family) though?

        • Replied to Spotify deal.

        • Even the cheapest paid Tidal plan is HiFi, 1411kbps full lossless CD Quality. Spotify is compressed 320kbps.

  • +2

Tried tidal, found app ui, playlists and algorithm is not good compared to Spotify :/

    • +2

Really? I'm trying it for the first time today, and i'm finding the UI to be familiar enough after coming from Spotify, whilst also having it's own flavour

    • +2

Sometimes you have to give a new setting some time to get used to it. I also found Tidal initially slightly irksome being used to Spotify for so long but now find Tidal to be more leaner and easier to use with great recommendations. It takes a good month for the new platform to 'know' what you like.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Great deal and post. I got it working with Individual HIFI Plus subscription.

  • Can you do that for amazon Hi-Fi? The Argentine route ?

    • Are you aware that Amazon Music has a single device Unlimited plan for only $6 per month ?

      • The Hi-Fi plan?

  • Wise Visa card doesn’t work, but Bankwest Zero Mastercard was ok.

  • +1

Easy as - created a temp mail address for the tunnel bear VPN plugin, followed the instructions and used a mastercard with no issues. I'm just wondering if it's possible after the 30 day period, when it tries to charge the card it might fall over?

Either way, fingers crossed - thanks for the clear instructions!

  • Was $2/mth last year. about to cancel coz barely use it. Now $0.85, fine I just keep it :P

  • Thanks OP

  • +1

I could only get Argentina pricing when connected to Turkey on nord 🤨
    Still worked

    • +1

Thanks! Was messing around with Argentina on Nord for ages, but switching to Turkey worked first try.

  • How does it compare to Spotify?

I see you can't get any free account :/
Also the mod apk for android still requires a paid subscription.

  • +1

Nice one, worked with my Up zap card and Surfshark

  • +1

I just moved back to Spotify after using Tidal for a year.

I wasn't happy with Tidal at all. Large gaps in the music library and bad app experience (desktop and mobile).

Good if you're an audiophile, but to my untrained ears, Spotify's 320kbps are good enough for me.

  • Visa, Visa Debit, Master all not working for me.

    • Mastercard will work if you switch off VPN on the Credit Card payment page.

      • if you switch off VPN on the Credit Card payment page.

        Already off on payment page.

    • CBA Ultimate & BankWest Plat working

  • +1

Subscribed and showed $149 before payment
But when login to the website after payment checked on payment it shows $99/month.
Is it because I haven’t added family members so it will default to hifi individual plan?
