Tidal HiFi Family (6 Users) Monthly Arg$145/~A$0.84, HiFi Plus Family Arg$225/~A$1.31 (VPN Argentina Req)

2940

**TIDAL HAS INCREASED ALL PRICES AUG 2023 - FAMILY HIFI PLUS (6 USERS) IS NOW 890 ARS OR $4.87 AUD / MONTH **. If you can find 6 people to share, still a killer deal for lossless better than CD quality streaming compared to Spotify. Ignore prices below.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - $0.84 a month, Tidal Family Hifi Plus (6 Users) - $1.31 a month. For single user plans, it's currently $0.58 a month for Hifi and $0.84 for Hifi Plus. Aug 1st 2023 price increase for Single Users: Hifi 380 ARS/ $2.22 a Month. Hifi Plus 570ARS/ $3.33AUD a Month. There is no price increase notice yet for Family plans.

Note: You don't need a VPN for playback, just during signup. After signup, you can switch off your VPN and use Tidal streaming as normal on any device anywhere.

Tidal Hifi - CD quality 16-bit/44.1 kHz, 1411kbps Lossless. (Best for 99.9% of the population, 4 x better Bitrate than Spotify).

Tidal HiFi Plus - MQA 24-bit/96 kHz, 9216kbps Lossless. (Seriously not needed unless you have compatible high end audio gear).

Spotify (For comparison) - 320kbps Lossy (Compressed).

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Use Tunnel Bear, PIA, Surfshark, etc)
2. Click on Ozbargain link. Single user plan top of page, Family Plans scroll down. Choose Hifi or HiFi Plus.
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, retry or try a different VPN. (Important)
4. Click through the registration process on the plan you want. Note: If it shows $145 in the later steps don't worry, the system means ARS 145.
5. Turn off VPN on Credit Card page as payment will not go through with VPN on. (Important)
5. Mastercard worked fine for me. Some have mentioned Visa Credit Card's don't work. See below for other Credit Card options.
6. After sign up, verify your email address (email will be in Spanish).
7. You no longer need the VPN and can use Tidal on any device normally.

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.

UPDATES FROM COMMENT SECTION:

  1. If you use NordVPN, it doesn't correctly connect to Argentina and fails to show ARS currency. Use Tunnel Bear VPN instead.
  2. VISA Credit Card seems to not work. Verified working credit cards are Mastercard, 28 degrees Latitude, Coles Credit Card, Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost plus some other brands of cards, see comments.

    • It's ARS 145 for Family HiFi. System scares you with the dollar sign for payment. Don't worry its ARS, not Dollar.

      • Thanks OP :-)
I actually forgot to turn off VPN before processing payment and it went through fine (28 Deg). Hope they dont charge me in AUD!!!

        • If you are nervous, just cancel subscription in 3 weeks (free 1st month) and re-attempt. You can cancel subscription once you download the desktop app and log in. No stress.

    • I think you are right. $99 changed to $145 once I successfully added a family member.

      • Yeah I just tried to add another account into my family and now the price is updated to 145 from 99 on my payment details.

  • Anyone have trouble with their card not being accepted on the CC page? I turned off the VPN as instructed, but I'm being blocked… Would it be the Bank blocking this foreign purchase? I've done similar things with this card via Turkey, i.e. the 3 year Game Pass deal…

    • Same not sure why, was working from last deal and they have problem charging my card months ago and I have stopped using it now.

      • I'm with ING - which bankare you with? normally I have no trouble with this stuff

        • HSBC, no problem with YouTube Premium, Netflix, Disney+.

        • My ING visa would no work either. Tried a pre-paid mastercard from Auspost and it worked. Just costs $7.95 setup fee. However you will still be miles in front with this deal anyway.

  • +1

If anyone has signed up and wants a family member, happy to pay the 12 months worth now.

  • tidal vs spotify?

  • +2

Can confirm the Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost works for this deal.

  • What is now?

    • Now you get transported back to the high quality music fidelity that the kid's of 1980's and 90's enjoyed. 16 bit 44.1khz lossless audio heaven. Back to the Hi-Fi standard after 20 years of compressed Low-Fi music.

  • +1

    (AU) American Express Cent worked

Time to get my Walkman A106 out ;)

    • My Amex wasn't accepted - I got a red pop up - I had to use a mastercard - strange

  • +2

Confirmed works with Macquarie debit card.

  • Adopt me please!

  • +2

Worked with Surfshark and 28Deg card.

  • After everything has gone through and you try your first tune is anyone else getting a pop up on the app saying 'welcome to Tidal. Please visit tidal.com to start your free trial.'…and that just sends you in a loop?

    • +1

First I heard of this. I just downloaded the Windows desktop app after registering and signed in and started playing music. Did the same with my mobile phone app. Also for family members after getting them links and registering them via Argentina VPN. They all downloaded the apps for their devices and started playing music straight off the bat. You may have skipped a step or had issues. Try again but maybe clear your browser history / cache to reduce another variable that could give issues but personally I didn't do that and registering via VPN just worked for me. Maybe someone else could chime in if they had similar issues.

      • +1

All good, thanks. It was an old account issue. All fixed up :)

  • For those rhat have used a Commbank card (platinum debit), does it charge international transaction fees?

How about using a Wise/Revolut card paying straight in Argentinian currency?

    • Your credit card gets charged $0.00 upon registering due to first month being free. We will all know the credit card exchange rate fee in 30 days time. Hell, even if it's 20% of $0.84, that's $1 a month vs $18 a month for Tidal Hifi Family. Any credit card exchange fees should be a non issue.

  • Now we just need a deal on a good tidal downloader/converter

    • Umm don’t pay for that. There’s open source options.

  • +1

Anyone happen to know whether Tidal has a decent library of Chinese music?

Or - alternatively - any suggestions for a "Chinese music" equivalent to Spotify/Tidal? Spotify has an ok library, but I imagine there are dedicated apps for cpop.

    • Tidal doesn’t have decent Asian collections. Can’t compare to Spotify or Apple Music

    • YouTube Music.

  • +1

Thanks OP - I just signed up but my Amex wasn't accepted but Mastercard was. I imported all my playlists from Spotify - it couldn't find only 4 tracks and those were pretty obscure - extremely happy!

  • Latitude 28 didn't work for me. It's a brand-new card though. :(

  • +1

    Thanks awsome deal :)

  • +1

why are people switching between spotify and tidal when the combined total to have both is about $2.10? just use them all ;)

  • Hmm it's strange cos back when they blocked foreign visa card I tried using my latitude master card and it didn't work but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that it worked again right now.

  • Now I can pop in my SMSL SM400 with SP200.

  • Thanks OP, signed up with Tunnel Bear + Westpac Platinum

Tho a little annoying that transferring my playlist / music require me to pay for the service.

Sure I could go for the free version with 500 tracks but that's only one of my 500 playlist

  • Worked with CommBank mastercard

  • amazing easy sign up, worked perfectly!

  • Ok someone help me out here, I went through this process but it has only signed me up for a free 30 day trial. How do I actually pay for, say, a year using this method? What's going to happen in 30 days' time in terms of charges?

    • If you didn't reach the payment page, you probably did something wrong in the steps. Maybe clear your browser history / cache and try again.

      • I followed the steps exactly and I did reach the payment page, but it still signs you up for a 30 day trial and then says that after 30 days if you don't cancel you'll be charged. There's no option anywhere to pay for a longer period of time, at least that I could find.

        • That's it. You are good to go. You can only pay monthly after the 30 day free trial. It will be automatically debited. You should see a $0.00 charge for the trial month on your credit card statement by Tidal. After trial period, the auto monthly charge of ARS 145 will start.

          • @Dollar Dreamer: And that just lasts… forever?

It's super weird that it never even asks for your country/address. So technically not doing anything wrong here, completely up to them if they want to base charging on your IP address I guess.

            • @caitsith01: Maybe one day all these streaming websites will start geo-locking you to your country but it will be hard to police as people travel all the time. For now, you can go anywhere and take your streaming platforms with you which is amazing. Enjoy.

Anyone else get an email just now saying the price will increase to $380 on August 1st? I signed up to the Hifi single user plan so if true this would be almost 4x increase

    • just received today as well. Looks like Turkey is going to be cheaper soon provided they don't increase price in turkey too

      • +1

Tidal is no longer offered in Turkey

    • Me too, email came through about 10 minutes ago..

    • Estaba en español?

    • Yep, my hifi plus sub being hiked to 570ars. ~$3.34, although I'm sure the Peso will drop plenty more between now and August.

    • HiFi Plus single user also going up ($570)

    • Nope, no price hike email . Could be because I subscribed to the Tidal Family Hifi ($0.84 a month) and not the Tidal Hifi Family Plus.

  • +1

Yeap, getting shafted with a price hike already.

Just got an email here saying it's going up to 570 pesos, about 3.30 dollaridoos…

    • $36 AUD dollars per year? May cancel, hardly use it.

    • Received same email. Probably going to cancel too cause am not using it that much. Back to Spotify i guess.

      • I'm the opposite. After experiencing the audio quality difference I can't, go back to spotify lol

  • Just received the price hike email as well. That’s quite the hike though, I wonder what people in Argentina think about it?

    • They probably got more important things to be concerned with if their country is experiencing hyper inflation.

  • I subscribed to Tidal HiFi and did not get any price hike email. Could be it's only for HiFi Plus. To the people on the Hifi Plus plan that got the price hike email, it would be wise to move to the Hifi plan before Aug 1. There is no need to be on the HiFi Plus plan anyway if you don't have high res audio compatible gear to playback the format properly. The standard Hifi plan is true bit perfect lossless CD quality, 4 x better than Spotify. I will wait for more feedback over the next 24hrs and update the deal for HiFi plus.

    • What is the cheapest for tidal Hi-Fi plus now that Argentina has raised their prices? Maybe I just go back to Amazon music which is part of my $9.99 prime plan.

    • I signed up to Tidal Hifi (not plus) single user a few days ago and got the price hike email. So looks like at affects both tiers.

      • How much it is?

        • Was $99 will increase to $380/month on August 1

          • @schm2: Big increase. Guess I will cancel after the free trial

  • +3

Used tunnel bear and CBA MasterCard yesterday. worked perfectly.

I got the email overnight too. Tidal hifi single user now $380. Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't this still only ~2.20 AUD? Still pretty cheap for a music quality better than Spotify..

    • Yes it is but when you already have multiple other streaming services the total cost still seems to be climbing fast.

      • Lol name checks out

  • +3

Also got the price hike email. Quite big increase but I still rather pay 2-3$ a month then the 12 for Spotify.

On top Spotify is paying less per song to artists than most other streaming platforms. And they rather pay some podcasters shitloads to be Spotify exclusives.

    • Individual or family plan?

      • +2

Currently on the Individual Hifi Plus for 145 ARS. Thats going up to 570 ARS, so I probably change back to the simple Hifi.

  • +1

So far I’ve only noticed individual plan users mention a price rise. Anyone with a family plan on either tier, get the email?

    • I am on Family Hifi plan (Not Hifi Plus) and no price increase email. I think all the people that mentioned they got the Aug 1st price increase email have the Hifi Plus plan. So stick to the Hifi plan as it's still bit perfect CD quality and 4x better bitrate than spotify.

      • There’s a few comments above on the single/individual Hifi plan (not plus) who are getting a price rise

        • Currently no one with a Family plan has reported price increase email.

        • +1

Yes I am primary / plan manager for my Tidal plan. No price increase email for Hifi Family.

            • +1

@xdpx: I will update if I receive the price increase email too.

  • If people that got the Aug 1st price rise email, could you tell us which plan you are on and what is the new price after Aug 1st so I can update the deal.

      • Thanks. Will update the deal for single users.

  • Currently no one with a Family plan has reported price increase email.

  • +2

Family HiFi Plus here, and no increase email yet either - still 225 ARS per month, costing me $1.34 last month. One thing I will note is I tried to invite a new family member just then and Nordvpn didn't work for me. Also tried Fastestvpn and Windscribe. No go. https://www.tunnelbear.com/ however worked without an issue.

    • Yea, Family Plans have not received any price hikes.

    • Some say with NordVPN, select Turkey to get Argentina servers. Better to just use Tunnel Bear.

  • On individual Hifi and got the price increase email. Can we actually pay annually before 1 August to get current price for another 12 months?

    • +2

      Don't think so, just monthly.

  • Anyone unable to add family members following email verification step?

    Keep getting the error message:
“ The Family Plan is available only to your family members with an account in the same country as you”.

Tried with the Argentinian VPN on and off. No luck.

      • +1

Yeah using tunnel bear and it’s worked for every other step. I can use the service fine. Just can’t invite other users

          • +5

@xdpx: The family member you're inviting MUST have first created their account in Argentina - so if they already have an Australian account it wont work, even if you VPN. The only way around it is to use an email for the family member that they haven't already used for Tidal, and they MUST only click to accept the invitation with Argentina VPN on … test it with whatsmyip.com before clicking invite button

    • +1

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.

  • I used tunnelbear as VPN and it worked. I also tried paying with Visa (2 different cards) and it didn't go through. Ended up using a MasterCard (MeBank) with no problems. If you need a MasterCard, Revolut have an online disposable single use MasterCard which can be used when you sign up with them.
