  • How much is delivery?

Last good deal on 3tb was the Buffalo 3tb external usb 3.0 for $149 from Bing Lee

      pickup free! :)

plus this means not having to buy an external and break the casing and void warranty. you still keep warranty as this is an internal drive!

Same price as CPL. A good price, but not really a 'deal' IMO.

    • Yes you can buy from CPL, but I wouldn't.

  • Is this a three platter drive? If so, decent price

  • I have a 2TB Green Seagate drive that occasionally chirps/beeps. Can any current owners of this comment if this drive does the same? Thanks

I think that just means your Tamagotchi needs feeding.

    • Are you sure your Seagate drive isn't actually a bird? Perhaps a robot bird, if it's beeping.

    • I have 3tb & 4tb seagate Xt versions and they are quite as for 7200 drives

    • My god… not the "Click of Death" paranoia again.

  • Price is good, but I'm off the Seagate drives now they have dropped the warranty to only one year.

WD aren't much better either at 2 years and an overseas warranty centre. Seagate have a local warranty center but only 1 year… Depends on what you prefer though, although after my many encounters with Seagate drives, I'm sticking away from them, not to mention a short warranty says they're not standing by their products.

    • The goflex external ones are still 3yr warranty

    • Every manufacturer did post-flood. If you want 5 year warranties you need to fork out for Enterprise/Performance HDDs like the Caviar Blacks/VelociRaptors/Barracuda XT, etc.

  • I recently sent two Seagate drives to the Australian warranty centre, they were sent to Singapore, where they were checked. Warranty replacements were posted from Singapore.

    $199 - expired?

    • was just about to say the same thing.. says $199 for me

    • looks like as soon as this was posted they bumped the price straight up to $199 after selling 17 drives? very sneaky as it when i posted it said they had over 50 in stock. now it says they have 1 in stock and it's $199

  • Good price $4 or $5 cheaper than most Umart's

  • this drive again.. please do search on google about criping sounds

  • Don't think this drive is particularly good value for money. It has only one year warranty and does not have Rotation Vibration Safeguard (RVS) feature to provide an extra level of security from premature drive failures. RVS is particularly useful in NAS environments where drives tend to be stacked next to each other.

The best value 3TB drive on the market at the moment appears to be the Western Digital RED WD30EFRX which does have RVS and comes with a three year warranty. It's available for around $205 pickup at MSY and other retailers.

    • +1

Each to their own, not everyone needs RVS for NAS. (Red series is directed at NAS users anyway, consumers are sold Green, Blue, or Black)

  • Waiting for it to hit the magical $150 mark.. :) Come on MSY!! drop it another $15..
