Sexy Red, kinda "old" but still a good camera
Please pair it with a nice prime lens if you have a spare money.

IMO, it's better to own a cheap camera body with good lens rather than expensive camera body with cheapo lens :)

        I'd pay 85 cents extra for the red body. This is a clear winner.

        Thumbs up to the OP - Get a cheap body and great lenses, only then will you become good at photography.

    I agree with the cheap body good lens combination. Lenses last you for decades if treated right. The body will probably be replaced every couple of years! Anyway the D3100 is a great camera. So light and compact!

    Nikon firmware update:

    Nikon has released a firmware update for the D3100 digital SLR that addresses a significant list of bugs and errors. Firmware v1.01 rectifies errors relating to autofocus, playback and noise reduction. This includes the reduction of a magenta cast at the bottom of still images captured at high ISO settings after using live view or movie shooting for a lon

      $544 at JB: with 18-55mm VR lens, which is smaller,

      and the twin lens kit ($769) might seems a good deal but those lenses only have aperture F/3.5 - not so good in low light. If we take out those lenses - the body itself become too pricey

      while the D5100 "deal" is totally diffent body and more expensive ($888)

    Shopping square has had this camera going for $379.95 (about $450 with shipping to a rural area, yewww wollongong being so south -_-) with a single lens (18-55) for the past 2 days.
