  • So we can apply for both cards and get the bonus points ?

    • +1

Yes provided you get approval for both.

      • Finger cross

      • Do they check each other cc applications if applying both at the same time?

    • Is it risky they're reject the 2nd one if you had approval for the first?

    • "Offer is not available when closing or transferring from another NAB credit card account or in conjunction with any other NAB offer". It says not in conjunction with another offer so I would assume you don't get the bonus points for both

    • Can anyone confirm that they were approved for both Virgin & Qantas NAB cards and got the points for both? I've done one, but not sure going for the other.

  • +3

"CommBank Smart Awards credit card" 50K QFF, no cc fee [60$ Qantas Fee] if spending 2K per month + 2K bonus points if you haven't earned QFF point from a CC in the past 12 months. Need to spend 4000$ in 90 days for 50K QFF points.

    • +1

Does paying rent with bpay contribute towards that 2k?

  • Do you still have to pay the yearly Quantas membership fees with those?

    • +8

You should never have to pay any fees for qantas membership.

      Ever.

  • +2

I signed up to this, approved in 5 minutes and card arrived in 3-4 days.

    • Any documents uploaded?

      • Probably don't have to if they were instantly approved instead of only conditionally.

        • Nope, none.

  • +1

    Any idea the minimum income?

    • +2

Doesn't state any. I'm a uni student with low income and was just conditionally approved for it with a credit limit of $6,000 (chose the minimum). I've uploaded all supporting documentation so should be approved hopefully.

      • How low can you go

        What's conditionally approved mean

        • Computer said "Yes". Then a person will verify your application later.

    • $35,000

Does a credit card with Citibank count as NAB

    • It's counted as Citibank.

  • +4

Wait, they upped the time between cards to 18 months?

    • Great catch!
Sneaky they've made that change, would be easy to miss

      • when's best time/of year to apply ?

        • +1

Whenever you have big expenses. I tie applications to things like annual insurance premiums, council rates school fees etc. Usually one big spend hits the minimum spend for bonus points immediately, shut it down once points hit and are consumed

          • @cook99: Interesting cheers
I guess also depends on promo availabilities

            • @capslock janitor: Be careful with paying Council Rates as some cards' T&C excludes from eligible spend.
Some T&C exclusions deem Council Rates as "Government" related expense.

              • @NDIB: Anyone have an answer on this? I want to pay my council rates.. the Nab card mentions excluding "government spend" but doesnt define this.

Alternately, does anyone know a card that doesnt exclude it?

  • This one narrowly pips the suncorp one for value

  • Does anyone know when this offer is due to expire?

    • No expiry listed on the page

NAB may vary or end this offer at any time

The 20K Bonus from Qantas expires 31st July

      • I read "31st July" is for registration only. As long as you register the offer by the day, you are fine to apply later and make sure earned points credited by 31 October 2023.

What can you get for 70,000 Qantas points?

    • +10

      Found this on finder.com.au

As of June 2023, a Qantas Point is typically worth between 0.3 cents and 8 cents, depending on how you spend it.

Here are the values for some common reward choices:

      • Each Qantas Point spent on Economy Classic Reward flights is typically worth between 1.3 cents and 2.5 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on Premium Classic Reward flights is typically worth between 3 cents and 4 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on Business Classic Reward flights is typically worth between 3.5 cents and 6.5 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on upgrades is typically worth between 2 cents and 8 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on hotels or car rental is typically worth between 0.65 cents and 0.85 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on gift cards or products through the Rewards Store is typically worth between 0.3 cents and 0.6 cents.
      • Each Qantas Point spent on charity donations through the Rewards Store is typically worth between 0.7 cents and 0.8 cents.
      • The Reward flight valuation for premium seats assume you'd be willing to pay the cash value for the ticket though, they're typically 0.8~1cpp on classifieds

    • A flight to and from New Zealand plus $200 ;D

Nice. Go to Queenstown, eat some fergburger, fly home.

Any way to get the first annual fee waived?

    • Bankers can do it at their discretion. But they won’t unless you have other business with them.

  • +3

For those that travel or intend to use the card overseas, this card has international transaction fees.

  • Would having a card with suncorp void this offer?

    • They are different so you should be fine in getting the 70K bonus. NAB Rewards vs Suncorp Clear Options

You just won’t be eligible for the 20K Bonus from Qantas as you currently already have a Qantas credit card

  • Just remember this card is $1.5 per Qantas point and after $3k per month it is $3:1 point. The higher tier card is $1:1 point for 90k points and 120k points after 12 months…
just the income requirements are much higher and 295 (right now) annual fee, normally 395

    • Was just weighing up these 2 cards myself. If I read this right it's 0.66 points per $1 upto 3k and 0.33 points per $1 beyond that.70k sign-up bonus on this card seems like the main advantage vs other card seems better if you intend to keep it (and spend 3k+ pm)

I miss them days of 1st year free..

  • +2

Does NAB still pro rata the annual fee on cancellation?

  • Any idea how long they take after submitting payslips?

    • It took me one business day :)

  • Why not try Westpac or ANZ who provide more points along with 2 Qantas club passes and Westpac's fee is similar to NAB.

    • All pretty close. ANZ is $325 pa (with the $100 cash back), has the best points earnings but slightly higher initial spend & looks like $65 for an additional card holder.

      • ANZ gives you 1 QFF point per $1, whereas Westpac gives you 0.75/$1

      What's 2qantasclub

      • I meant Qantas lounge passes.

  • +2

    No worries @TechNerd.

Just thought I should mention, as I dont think it's clear anywhere in this post, that the bonus 20k points is available on many qantas cards, including the 120k one someone mentioned in this thread already.

    Can see eligible cards here:

    • Oh don't worry, I see you linked to another post with the details. Sorry 🙂

  • I think the title of this deal should read Premium instead of Platinum?

    • Fixed, thanks!

I've had 2 from 2 negative experiences applying for NAB cards.

Had their Altitude Rewards Platinum card earlier in the year, and it was approved quickly after submitting payslips. Used the card twice (small spends), and then it stopped working. Had to call NAB to find out that they had blocked the card and wanted to verify my income again? And it had to be done in person at a NAB branch, so had to go in with printed(!) documents to be verified by a NAB banker in branch, and the submitted to another department for further verification? This was after I had already received the card in the mail and the letters of offer!

That card account has been closed for a few months now, and I applied for this one last week. I've had to go through two rounds of income verification, and have currently heard nothing back in 5 business days. Mind you, I make well above the minimum income requirements and have excellent credit. At my wits end with this one.

    • Yeah I've had a similar experience. NAB are weird. Only bank that have ever asked for additional proof of income documents beyond payslips when applying for a credit card. They also kept getting me to submit my payslips over and over, three times all up by the end of it. The third time was actually on the phone with NAB and the CS rep couldn't give me an answer as to why, nor why they needed all these additional documents. They just said this is their process. This was a few years ago now.

I am high income with excellent credit and have gained instant approval for every credit card I've applied for before and since (except for Westpac rejecting one application outright several years ago which was bizarre). I found their CS while I had the card to be pretty unhelpful also. Cancelled the card as soon as I got my points and haven't bothered with NAB every again.

Sounds like they are still shocking.

      • This was the worst CC application experience ever.

I'm also high income, without a mortgage, and have gained instant approval for every CC I've ever applied for.

Ultimately got told I was only eligible for the lower platinum card with a $6k limit and could only have a case officer "assess" what was the issue if I accepted the lower platinum card first. Customer help line was extremely unhelpful.

        • Yeah I got a similar response from CS. Couldn't tell me what the issue was but if I accepted the terms they could then later have someone assigned to me to see what the problem was. What's the point of that? Told me everything I needed to know about the organisation, I had never banked with NAB before. And after additional bad CS experiences, I've never banked with them since.

Guess gone are the days where first year fee is $0
Now I’m seeing minimum $100/150 for these types of credit card deals and then thing you know it’ll be $200 just to get 50k Qantas FF Points 🤦‍♂️

    • +1

Also gone are the six figure bonus point offers. Definitely looks like the annual fees and 50/60k offers are here to stay unless qantas decides to devalue the points further/increase reward seats costs.

      • also its hard to find tickets and using points, i mean its not like they have every ticket that allows you to use points plus pay.
its very selective and might not be able to get it on dates like e.g. during school holidays or end of year xmas etc too

the only other option and its the only time i've even used my points was upgrading to business class from sydney to jakarta. And it was only because qantas sent an email asking if you wanted to upgrade using points so i thought why not, can't remember how much it was but i was very glad I did upgrade to business class on that flight because the flight was delayed and by the time we got to our flight, I was glad to just relax in a bed chair and sleep most of the way there lol

after trying business class, gosh i could never go back but my credit card reminds me to just buy cheap economy tickets for now lol

  • Qantas is crap.. Go for Velocity

    • +1

      Why

    • they nearly went bust before and was lucky to be bailed out/bought by someone?

      • +1

        Virgin Australia?

  • Can you still get this if you’ve had a NAB QANTAS credit card in the past but not active at the moment?

    • +1

As long as it was over 18 months ago. Used to be 12.

  • Man that took a while.. Can't remember the last time I applied for a CC.. But I'm sure it was much faster than that! What a process. Conditionally approved/got the SMS they're sending the card though.

There's no set timeframe you need to keep the cards for right? Once I've got my points I can yeet? :P

Edit: just got an email to upload more information, tells me to go online to do it, but there's no place to upload in the NAB online portal lol.

    • Welcome to the shabby NAB CC application process.

      • Yeah sent via email instead.. See what happens.

I made a dumb though and forgot to register with Qantas first-card holder link before the application.. So I sent an enquiry to check if it'd be fine still.

  • Trying to organise the balance transfer in the application process but where it asks me to enter the existing card number, it keeps rejecting it saying it's not a valid credit card number.
    Am I missing something here?

EDIT: bugger it. Supposedly you can do it later anyway. Will worry about it then.

    • Amex?

      • Nah, an ING Visa. Seems like a strange one to have issues with.

  • Does this deal apply to existing card holder?

    • Depends which card you currently have. If you have a Qantas NAB card or have held one in the past 18 months then you are not eligible.

  • Can I use this to pay rent? (Bpay)

    • Have to use methods with fees like Sniip or Rentpay ever since BeemIt removed their feature. You have to check if your rent bpay accepts credit cards too.

  • Approved after submitting payslips. Says 2 days to post the new card

    • How many payslips did you need to submit?
