  • will the eero 6e be on sale or have a lower discount

    • +67

Wait. I'll just fire up the old time machine, visit Jeff and report back to you. Tell my Mum I love her.

Edit: I'm back. Saw Jeff a few weeks into the future. He wanted to give a shout out to ozbargain. When I asked him your question directly he said, and I quote, "Haven't got a f&$#ing clue!"

      • +5

Dam tell jeff he doesnt have a clue building spaceships while you're at it.

        • +6

Followed your instructions, cheekily interupted Jeff while he was on the shitter. Response "Mine are loads better than @Jasonio " Think that was Jeff's way of saying your spaceships suck more

          • @seamonkey: Mine dont look like a giant penis

            • +51

@Jasonio: My sympathies. How about your spaceships though?

            • +1

@Jasonio: Reading this out of context.. my sympathies too mate!

              • +2

@ggbhai: ❤️ @Jasonio for real. He just caught me when I was sitting down for coffee and slice. I would have responded to my own mother in precisely the same manner. Thanks for the easy goals @Jasonio and you had a fair question - so if anyone happens to know more, awesome. Just having fun mate. 🙂

      • My name jeff

    • +1

As there are already early sales on Eero 6 and 6+ my guess is nope. https://tinyurl.com/35yv6jht

  • +1

Cheers! Just waiting for Cashrewards and Shopback to bump up their cashbacks now. Eyeing a couple of Amazon devices, and hoping for a 15% CB!

Deals on select products from LEGO, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price and more

  • So no Echo Dot this time

    • +3
      • Echo Dot 3 was expecting this to come to lower price.

        • +4

I added this to cart. Then it showed add echo dot 3rd gen for 19$

Prime savings: Echo dot 3rd gen for $19…..

    • -2

dot sucks, get a show. my dots are in my bathrooms now, since i have shows in all the rooms.

      • What's the use case for a show? Can't really think of a good use for them that's not better done by an old smart phone.

  • Been waiting for prime day for a good robot vac deal but nothing seems much better than you get every other week so far, will wait and see I guess

  • +1

    Cube vs Max ?

    • +2

Cube indeed. Specially at this price. Much faster and better specs even if not on 4k all the time.

    • +1

I have both, the max was okay, did what I needed. The cube is amazing! It also has more smart home features like when I turn off my tv through the cube it turns off the rest of the hifi equipment, it also has a HDMI in so my home assistant server can plug in to that and I can load the screen without having to change ports on my projector.

      • what would the cube or max do well with a C2 OLED.. or is it waste

  • +2

Was hoping for a Echo Studio deal

    • it has a deal, but nothing amazing.

  • +2

    hows differ to firecube?

    • +6

One is cubed one is stick

      • If you dont have wifi cube wont work.

        • +2

Cube has Wi-Fi and wired networking, stick only has Wi-Fi

  • +4

How is the sound quality between Echo Pop and Echo Dot 3?

    • +1

Echo Pop is pretty good for that price tbh it's good even if you just use it as a Bluetooth speaker.

    • +1

Reviews I've watched shows the Pop beating the Dot 5 for sound quality (bigger speaker and better bass), so it should be better quality than the Dot 3.

  • +3

Hoping that computer stuff goes on sale, needing to build something beastly to handle Starfield.

Suppose I need to set some clear limits else I’ll be in for three grand on impulse purchases.

    • +1

      Spend the $3K mate!

    • Watcha talkin bout awaiko, a decent 4090 is already $3k… so you going w/ puny build?

      • I know that you’re joking, but I was genuinely psyching myself up to buy a 7900XTX (or whatever it’s called, I don’t understand AMD’s naming system). Nvidia seem to have dropped the ball on the current series.

  • Fingers Crossed… hoping for a deal on a wifi/modem combo.

  • I know they aren't popular but I like the Echo Show 15 or something similar, if they are heavily discounted it could be a cool smart device to show photos and play podcasts etc.

  • +5

    Looks kind of meh

  • Echo Pop seems cheap price, but I still have Echo Dot 3rd Gen in the box, unable to sell it. Hmm

    • -1

I'll give you the tenner they went for last year when I bought three of them for your's if you want.

    • Pop has no 3.5 jack if you were hoping to pimp a speaker.

  • +4

I am sure everyone has a fire stick by now. I bought three ages ago and they are sitting in their packaging. I opened one all setup with my details and credit card details inside. Tried to hack it, but Amazon always checks what you are doing and deletes any kid of exploits. It's very annoying to see all the Amazon advertising everytime. I just want to load some custom firmware on it but it seems almost impossible even after all this time. Must be others in a similar situation I reckon, yet there is no solution……

    • +6

Not everyone has got one, I don't.

      • +1

        Get one and subscribe then

    • +1

You were consulting xda forums? My fire stick lite is hacked and doing fine as vanilla android tv device, sans ads & amazon bloatware

      • Custom rom for 4k max also?

        • Very possibly not - you'll need to check the current situation, involves reading the xda forum threads carefully

    • +1

Got a Google TV Chromecast. Does me fine. Any benefits of the Fire Stick over the Chromecast?

Edit: Never mind, I just read a review from Tom's Guide and they are essentially the same, but Google can stream from your phone and has HBO as an app, but neither of these are things that I want. Happy to have bought it for about $40 with the Netflix deal they had a year or so ago.

      • Google TV has Roon support.

        • Roon?

  • Anyone ever got one of the Philips TVs that's gonna be on offer?

    • -5

i only buy samsung, and maybe a sony. the rest suck imo.

    • Haven’t got a Philips but they just license the name so at 50% off the current Amazon price puts them about where I’d expect them to sell for similar to the brands at Aldi, big w, etc

Should put the 65” around 749-799 depending on model

Now if the 50% extended to the OLED models it would be interesting

  • +21

Also save up to 100% by not buying anything :)

    • +1

Up to..? Then I'd rather buy something than lose money for not buying them sales :).

  • +7

prime day aint what it used to be, this is pretty crap

    • +1

You probably say that every year

      • agreed, he says that with everything that isn't 110% off. he wants to be paid by the company before purchasing.

      • +2

You must be new to prime then, pre COVID you could have build a top end PC with about 20-30% off parts on prime
Now you get $3 off toilet paper and ppl are happy
        Ok

  • Is the ring indoor cam any good? I live in an apartment so it's not feasible to have security outside the place (as that's strata's domain) so thinking of putting something inside just in case.

    • +2

i have both and i like wyze better.
ring is only good if you run 1 camera, or a bunch of camera's. nothing in between, lol. that's because of the subscription you have to buy. i switched to just the ring doorbell, and i have wyze everywhere in the house and i don't need a subscription.

      • That's good. I have seen Wyze and wondered. Thanks for the info, have a good one.

      • does it send you notifications of movement etc? then you can review the recording?

        • +2

you can with wyze for free, but with ring you can't without a subscription.

  • can i put a vpn on this?

    • Yeah of course, but you can't put custom firmware, Amazon checks what you are doing with it.

      • dang it.

can i do the turkey thing with this for netflix, or do i need to get something else?

        • -1

lel. so the first thing that came to mind was some guy doing something with a turkey and a firestick while watching netflix. ugh i think i gotta go sleep.

  • +1

So if I don't have prime, I need add that to my cost.

  • Can you load steam remote play on these sticks? I tried on the Chromecast with google tv, but it's a stuttery mess. I feel like mostly because it's not powerful enough.

    • Have done that with mine, and it works well enough, albeit with a little input lag. It's maybe 150ms~ kind of lag. Could just be my mesh system or something causing it, but don't hold your breath on it being good for playing any twitch shooters.

  • Is there any advantage of fire tv over a pc connected to a 4k monitor?

    • If your referring to the fire TV sticks - well yes and no.

With a fire TV stick 4k plugged into your monitor u can watch shows with your pc off. Most PCs are not silent running and I imagine the stick 4k is fanless, and assuming your monitor has more inputs u can switch between your pc and stick anytime through the monitor OSD menu - I do this currently for my switch since I'm TV-less atm :(

Theres also voice control with Electra, I mean Cortana, oh fuuk, sorry Alexa.

The apps on the Microsoft store allow you to download titles for later viewing like the android apps do. Don't know for certain if the firestick 4k can do this due to limited internal storage but I've read somewhere u can use a usb stick as external storage but have yet to confirm..

      • Thanks mate, so its just the noice as pc can also download stuff for later viewing ( legally/illegally)

    • +1

Your monitor should have a speaker to get sound or you need to connect firetv stick to a wireless audio.

      • Firestick have Bluetooth?

        • Yes.

  • Can anyone confirm or deny whether the 4k fire TV stick can download titles for later viewing?

  • Hope the Echo Show 5 will go on sale big time. Want it primarily for a bedroom clock as my ancient clock radio has gone on to electric heaven.

    • I prefer the google version as it has lidar sleep detection

      • @Jezzabell
Which model and what size unit is it? Thanks.

        • I have the nest hub 2 with sleep sensing, not sure if there is a newer model but it tracks waaaayyyy better than my smart watch and can tell if you snore or move around

  • I got a firestick expecting to be able to cast to it, but seems like this isn't an option on iPhones? I need to download a shitty third party app to hackily implement airplay/screen mirroring.

Does anyone know how to just do basic casting to a firestick?

  • can anyone explain the advantages of firestick over chrome tv? I find it very finicky to cast my phone content on firestick but on Chrome TV it's seamless.

    • It has more storage and less ads. That's about it.

  • Do you guys reckon there will be a good deal for a normal Kindle? Been eyeing them for a while and thought maybe Prime Day could be the day

  • +2

Fire TV Stick 4K Max $49 deal already live as "Early Prime Day Deal"

  • New Fire TV devices are expected to be announced in September.

  • So torn on this. I bought 4K Firesticks last Prime Day. They're fine so long as you have Internet connectivity. I've had a couple of issues with a later release of VLC not remembering SMB passwords but that's not the fault of the stick. What irks me is that the menu doesn't appear if you lose Internet access. You can still get into settings and launch an app from there but it's clunky as. In terms of playing content they've been great, although I've not played anything 4K, only 1080p. I want to buy more but the threat of them removing side loading or the ability to launch apps if you're not connected gives me pause. I'd grab a different kind of media stick but reports of many being infested with malware put me off those too.
