2860

First post pls be kind!

Amazon Prime membership comes loaded with fast free delivery on eligible orders, world-class entertainment on Prime Video, music on Amazon Music, and ebooks on Prime Reading. (Retail value of Amazon Prime membership is $6.99/month.)

3 months - 8,000 Telstra Plus Points
12 months - 24,000 Telstra Plus Points

Seems like a cracking deal as I noticed Telstra plus points expires at a certain point.

(Note: You may need to have an active service with Telstra to use your points balance. A low-cost Telstra Prepaid SIM from any retailer can be activated for this purpose.)

  • When do the points expire?

    • +5

You can check via the My Telstra app.
Once logged in - on the home page - click on the Member Tier, then Telstra Plus Home

There you will see your total points and expiring points / expiry date.

Mine expires on 30 Apr 2023.

      • +4

That’s your tier anniversary, not points expiry.

        • Works for me as seen here
          https://ibb.co/bd5NBNV

          • -6

@anfuni: Expiring points: 14k+ in April

That only shows because your points are about to expire! To use them.

Mine doesn't show as oldest points were added in last year. So none are expiring soon.

            • +1

@INFIDEL: Cool, well this is the only method that I know of that shows you how many pts will expire and when.
If there's another way, let us know.

                • @INFIDEL: That history only shows the last 18 transactions, unless you have some other way to increase that?

          • @anfuni: Spent 54k in December….so doesn't show anything in my app page.

May/May not have done before December. I'm not 100% sure now

            • +3

@Spending2Much: Yeah, its a bit of a mess to track.
I didn't even know Telstra points expire till I saw that prompt on my page.

It seems like the anniversary date plays a part as seen below

When do points expire? Do all my points expire at once?

Each year, on the last day of the month of your membership anniversary, any unused Telstra Plus points more than three year's old will expire. When you use your points, the oldest points will be used first to make sure you have as much time as possible to redeem that something special.

@INFIDEL: Relax buddy. Do some travelling maybe

  • +4

3 years from the date you acquired them

  • +1

Thanks! Seemed a good use of points. Looks like 3 months stacks as per terms. Anyone tried stacking 12mths?

    • +10

I just stacked 2 x 12 months. Was originally paid member until 03 Feb 24, now extended to 03 Feb 26.

      • +1

That's good. I literally just paid the $59 or another year, in February.

  • +4

This might be better value for some - 10,000 points: Belong $80 SIM Starter Pack - 3 months plan credit when you activate on Belong $25/mth 20GB mobile plan.

    • +7

Wait until it goes on sale, got a few last year for 2k points

      • Wow 2k is a ripper

      • +1
      • +1

Yeah hasn't been on sale in ages though, I think the last sale they dropped it to was 5 or 6k points, but even then that was a fair while ago.

    • Or use each Belong $80 SIM Pack for 400GB Data.
Bought 5 x 2k of free pts. Still have a few to use.

  • +1

After selected 12 months and click checkout, I got redirected to page not found.
    Anyone having the same experience?

    • Same here.

    • same

    • likewise

      • +2

If you dont have any active services with them and get the 404 page, is there still hope to use our points?

        • This could be my problem. Was able to redeem approximately a year ago.

        • +1

messaged them and feedback'ed got nothing..
have no services but looking to use up the points
seems pretty slack to not be able to redeem unless on a service, goes to show their service is non-existant once you aren't a customer… doesn't make me want to use them again

          • @xdivino: As a current customer, I also can confidently confirm I also don't want to use them again….

        • +2

I used mine in store as couldn't use online without an active service. Not sure that would help with this deal though - but I got an HomePod Mini

          • @digitalane: Hey mate, so when you go instore how does that process work?

Do they look at you funny when they ask if you have any active services? :D

        • +2

no active service but was able to use this link posted by another person
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13507374/redir

          https://checkout.telstra.com.au/consumer/rewards?login=true

          • @Heybargain: Same for me - had to use the above link and enter latter part of the the URL for the Amazon Prime offer. Did you have any luck using the serial number and voucher code to access the subscription? The link provided with my confirmation email isn't valid.

    • +4

Telstra Plus has been finnicky like this for a fair while for some people, including me. I escalated to them after trying every combination of device/Internet I could and the supervisor logged in as me and was able to redeem just fine. I've since found out the only thing that works for me to redeem is Firefox on a Windows PC.

This method doesn't work for everyone though sadly :(

    • Checked out thru the app and was fine

      • No, not working for me. same problem.

    • -3

      same, looks like a scam.

    • Same

    • +1

People with no active services will give code 404.

  • +2

Is this just for new Prime members or is there a way of adding this to an existing Prime subscription?

    • I would like to know as well because according to another user with the Binge subscription Telstra points offer it wasn't possible to add it to an existing account, and another account could not be made due to the identical details.

    • +3

According to terms it will be fine:

For existing Amazon Prime members, the 3-month membership will be added to your account and be applied from your next renewal date

    • +1

I extended my existing membership 2x 6 months

    • Cheers, just noticed I have just enough for $50

      • Glad I added this reminder!

      • Were you able to redeem it?
Checkout button doesn't work for me

        • Haven't tried yet, leaning towards getting the yearly membership

  • Question for anyone who has claimed it:
How does it provide the Amazon subscription?
Does it give you a code which you can then simply apply to an existing account?

    • Exactly. My membership expires in August and the 12 month code extended it until august 2024.

    • +2

You get a code. I cancelled current membership, they refunded me this month’s and then I applied the code. Works!

  • +4

    24,000 points = $72 cash value.

  • Rather use my points for Amazon gift cards

    • Yeah depends I guess. If you subscribe prime yearly anyway then it's better value to get Prime with Telstra points.

But I am in the same boat as you, I only subscribe monthly maybe maximum 4 months a year. So I prefer to get the giftcards.

      • +1

I just sign up to FREE Prime trial when i want it, a few times a year across some old accounts😉

        • I just sign up to FREE Prime trial when i want it,

I don't get it for free "exactly when I want it" yes I have been offered multiple free trials too, but I noticed if I don't use accept it for awhile it goes away, then comes back another time. Sometimes it's not being offered when I want it.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: Often 1 allows another free trial - without notifying its available. Usually try before Prime promotions. Has always worked for me. The advantage of multiple old accounts.

            • +2

@INFIDEL: Yeah I just have a habit of clicking the "Prime" text in the top menu bar. Takes you straight to the page that shows if a Free trial is being offered or not. Sometimes it is offering it when I need it so that's good enough for me.

    • +1

Thanks. Never knew Telstra store has Amazon, Uber Eats and Xbox gift cards

      • +1
        • No point, the checkout button doesn't work for any gift cards

          • @Snake47x: Others have bought these gift cards!
See the many comments about this issue with other Telstra+ purchases.
Especially if you aren't a current Telstra customer.

    Bikies

  • +2

    8000 months for 3 points and it's a deal

  • Hadn't used any of my Plus points, so this was a great use. Thanks OP.

Logging in to redeem them is a bit of a faff - had to try three times before I could login so if you're having dramas just keep trying.

    Also make sure when you get the code that you don't just enter it and hit enter, but you also select "Extend" . You should then get;

"We have added 12 Month of Prime membership to your account. Your membership will renew on month dd, 2024. Your membership will renew if your auto renewal is turned on or until you cancel your membership. You can adjust membership settings in Your Account."

  • +1

What's the promo code you can enter on the checkout?

    08/03/2013

    Good effort OP! Lol @anfuni

But honestly, after 10 years you would be expected to know not to say:

    First post pls be kind!

I'm now saying your name with the Russell Peeters' Chinese accent 🤣 "anfuni!"

  • It makes more sense if you use the points for recharge (if you are a prepaid user like me). 10000 points is $30 and 3 months of prime is normally $18 in cash.

    • +1

Or use boost, pocket the difference and get prime

      • I actually wonder why I am still with Telstra but not Boost

  • Damn. I’ve only got 7800 points.

  • Trying to do this but it’s being a massive PITA. Over and over clicking checkout results in 404. Page not found.
