You can get 6 months (45GB) out of an $80 starter pack when combined with $20 referral credit.

Activate on the $25 plan then drop down to the $15 plan for the remaining months.

    • There's a $15 plan?

      • -1

Yes but only after you activate it become an option.

        Literally to use the $80.
Its two months at $25 and two months at $15

    • -1

I am not sure you get referral credit on these $80 packs.

      • -4

No referral credit if you use the $80 pack. I believe it is either written on the pack or TOS.

      • +3

I added a random referral from ozbargain and received it
        So total $100 credit

        • Me too, couple of weeks ago

      • Yes you get referral credit, I have done it 3 times in the last few months. Account landing page says: Introduce a friend

Know someone who’d be better off with Belong? You could both get $20 credit when they sign up..

      • +1

Confirming $20 referral credits were applied to $80 starter pack. Refer it away..

      • You are completely wrong Evio, don't spread misinfo.

    • +1

Do you know if i need to use a new email address when activating the sim to get the credit?

      • +2

Yes, new email address required in order to receive the referral credit. The Gmail dot trick will suffice.

  • +2

anyone know if I can buy two of these, port out after 6 months to another carrier and then port back in using the starter pack to get additional 6 months?

    • +3

Yep, the normal starter packs you buy at the shops are valid for 1 year from the purchase date.
But not sure if you have to port out for 30 days. I would do this anyway rather than ask via your account and draw attention to what you're doing.

Also when activating after the first time you need a different email in order to get the referral credit again.

      • +2

Thank you. I'm already on my first starter. I'll give it a try.

      • Re: different email - someone correct me if Im wrong (I cant remember exactly if it worked or not as it was months ago) but you can try adding a + to your usual email address and it counts on their system as a new address but as its not a recognised character for email, it will go to your usual address (hence no need for new email).

  • Can you use e-sim on these?

    • +1

      no

      • -1

Telstra are so behind the times.

  • nice

  • How can i porting my current number(run out of credit) to Belong?Possible?

    • +3

As long as your current service can still receive text messages (to receive the verification code), yes. You enter that code online, not by reply text message, so it doesn't matter if it has credit left or not.

      • Thank you

  • +6

You can activate them as new mobile broadband sims with 500gb than gift the data back to your phone sim.

    I currently have 2.5tb.

    • is it allowed under same account?

      • +4

Yes, and considering that referrals don't apply to the mobile data plans, there's nothing to be gained by creating a new account.

    • +2

Using this for my home internet which is only really streaming

Essentially free as I don’t really place a value on Telstra points

    • +1

How long is the validity of the data banking of 2. 5TB?

      • For a mobile phone plan, for as long as the service remains active. (Although you can gift data to a mobile data plan, it doesn't carry over.)

      • I keep the excess on my belong mobile

    • Is it easy to cancel the mobile broadband service? I've read that it can't be done by the web interface.

      • +2

It's simple enough. You submit a request to cancel, and someone in the Belong team actions it relatively quickly. That was my recent experience anyway.

      • +1

Yes, very easy. Log into the app or website, request to cancel a service, they will email you for confirmation, reply to the email confirming the service(s) you wish to cancel, and it will be actioned soon after.

  • The going rate for these packs is about $24.
How much are 2000 pts worth otherwise?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Belong+%24…

    • +2

The points work out to about 0.3c each. Making this $6.

    • Maybe ppl making money out of it after buying for 2000 points

  • +1

I’m still waiting for my 10k points for signing up and linking my card from this deal:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/699323

It still hasn’t been credited since signed up when the deal first went live

    • Should get on to them mate, only took a few days for me.

    • Only a few days to get the points for me too.

      • Let’s hope it gets credited in 3-5 business days as mentioned by the Telstra chat. They assigned me a case reference number, will follow up if they haven’t

        • they told me that one month ago and my points are still not awarded

    • I finally got an email asking me to provide evidence despite giving it all to a case manager in the first place for this

  • How to obtain your referral id in app or on web?

    • +1

      In app
      Scroll down under My services

      • Thanks

  • Im still on the plan from the last deal, have 35GB in the pool

Can I use this to extend further?

    • If you wanted to keep the same number then you'd need to port out and back in. You'd lose your 35GB, but if you have another Belong service you could gift it to that. If you don't, but have a friend who does, you could ask them to "mind" it for you, ie; you gift it to them, and after you've ported back in, they gift it back to you. Or if you have at least 4000 Telstra Plus points to use, get two of these starter packs, activate one as data, and go nuts.

      • -1

ah dang, so its not just 80$ worth of credit

        • +1

Starter pack. Im in the same boat, currently with belong from the last deal with 2 months left. Looking for the cheapest way to port out and back in.

          • +1

@Skinnerr: Probably Kogan for $1, or wait and see if Amaysim have another freebie before your time's up.

          • @Skinnerr: i wonder if there is a period you gotta be out and in. usually for sim churning its around 28-30D

            • +2

@kehuehue: Three months ago I successfully ported it back in two days.

              • @jimojr: @jimojr

thanks, then any cheapo $1-2 sim would do.

                Where'd you hear this?

                @Skinnerr

thats the requirement for some telcos, like churning from kogan > amay > kogan need a cooldown period before we are considered "new" customers.

            • @kehuehue:

usually for sim churning its around 28-30D

              Where'd you hear this?

              • +1

@Skinnerr: Kogan is 30 days or so; ports begin to fail if you try to port in and out every month - i used to do it and a few times i had to call them to fix it up and i was told thats why, I was told to stop doing it haha

        • Well it is, you can activate 1 as a data sim for 500gb of data and then activate the other one, with a referral, and youll have enough credit for 4 months after dropping it to the $15 plan

  • Can I port from Telstra prepaid?

    • Yes

  • +1

How long before you have to activate it?

    • +1

      12 months from "purchase".

      • Can they even check this?

I have a pack that says Production date 9/21 that was purchased 4/22

        • The production date doesn't matter. On the back of the pack it says, "Credit will expire 12 months after purchase". I've never tried pushing my luck beyond that.

  • Dude, your news article said Telstra day starts at 1am!!!! Why is this item only discounted after 9-10am?

Feel so ripped off now after ordering this along with the telstra phone.

Also, why is the ordering process only letting me put orders one item per order?

  • Anyone knows:
1: is it possible use this starter pack to recharge to a belong data plan(500G)? If so, can I buy multiple packs to recharge the plan every month for replacing home internet?
2: is it possible port in from a Telstra postpaid plan?

    • +1

1: Not recharge, but you can activate as a mobile data plan. Because it won't roll over, I suggest activating one as a mobile phone plan (with referral), which can be gifted data from other packs that have been activated as mobile data plans. Don't forget to cancel the service(s) once the data has been gifted, or you'll be billed (real dollars) each month until you do.

      2: Yes.

      • Tks your suggestions. Could I activate the different starter pack each month for using home internet? I think it is pretty good deal than spend on the internet plan. As you said, just need do activation and cancellation every month.😩

        • Yes

        • You could, but whatever is remaining of the 500GB each month is lost. Or let's say you used the 500GB before the month is up…. You'd need to activate another pack sooner.

        • Looking at doing this also. Sucks you'd let go of $10 though. I'm getting one this week so I'll try ask them to add to existing account.

          Pete.

  • Where in the belong app does it show $ credit remaining? Can't tell if I have any $ in my account

    • Tap "Manage Mobile".

  • I have 2 belong accounts. The first one was for NBN only and never had a mobile account attached to it. The second one I made for a mobile account to activate this $80 starter pack and using a random ozbargain referral. Is it still possible to activate another $80 starter pack on the first account using my second account as the referral since the first account has never had a mobile account? Or does it have to be a new email address regardless?

    • +1

I'd be careful with self-referrals. I've read that it's considered a breach of the T&C's, and some people have had their service(s) cancelled without warning for doing so.

      • Okay well say I don't refer myself and use a random referral then?

        • Should be safe.

          • @Colin2905: Thanks. Another question, say we port out of Belong for 3 months. Can we then port back in on the same Belong account (but obviously no longer has had a mobile number for the past 3 months) and use a random referral credit and still get the credit? Or since it has had a mobile number on it, the referral won't work?

            • +1

@CVonC: To get the referral credit it must be a new account with a new email address, one that hasn't been used with Belong before.

  • All finished?

"This product is temporarily out of stock. Please choose another product to proceed."

  • Any word on when they will get any more?

  • +2

    Damn it

  • +1

IIRC, they sold out during the previous deal, but got more stock in before the promo ended. The production date of the one that I ordered on the last day of the previous deal is only three days before.

  • Ah crap how did I miss this

  • +5

    back in stock.

    • -1

      "Offer ends 19 Jul 2022"

  • unable to checkout this item. stuck forever loading

anyone have the same issue or just my telstra account issue?

    Thanks

    • +1

      Just worked for me.

  • +2

    Back in stock :)

  • yep still in stock 2 days later

  • Looks like its OSS again, any chance of it coming back in?

    • 3 days left, who knows. Seems they are produced in batches and the new sims are actually new

  • +2

Back in stock, with 1 day to go until the published expiry date (ie. "Offer ends 19 Jul 2022")

  • I made the mistake of trying to activate on a data plan and 25 hours later it still hasn't activated. I got such irrelevant nonsense from first line support it was insulting.

    • Same here - it took 2 days for them to activate it

  • Do the Mobile Plan SIMs work in 4G/5G Modems? I didn't realize that the data expired at the end of the billing cycle for Mobile Broadband

    • Do the Mobile Plan SIMs work in 4G/5G Modems?

      Yes.

I didn't realize that the data expired at the end of the billing cycle for Mobile Broadband

      It's in the CIS….

What happens to my unused data?
Any data remaining at the end of the monthly payment cycle will not roll over into the next month.

As per earlier suggestions, get two, activate one as a mobile service and the other as a mobile data service. Gift all the data from the mobile data service to the mobile service, where it won't expire. Cancel the mobile data service.

      • Would the Mobile SIM Card work in any 4G Modem or has to be Telstra brand?

        • +2

Almost any unlocked 4G modem should do. The more 4G bands it has that Telstra uses, the better. Something to be aware of though is that some older non-Telstra modems stopped working on 4G700 (LTE Band 28) when Telstra introduced IoT on that band. eg; I have a couple of Optus-branded Huawei E5573's that are affected.
