Dyson Bladeless Fans+Heater, Ground Coffee Makers, AEG Bagless Vacs, Blu-Rays $331, $90, $217, $26

150

Hello all,

here are the deals for the weekend. Today there are Dyson bladeless fans and a heater, several coffee makers (Beem, Siemens, Bosch, Kenwood) which use ground coffee beans and filters (no pods) as deals on those have been requested by several people, two more bagless vacuums by AEG-Electrolux, and some Blu-Ray boxsets which are fine to be played on Blu-ray players in Australia or a PS3.

I (we) would be very grateful if you used the affiliate links when buying as that will fund our research into the best search algorithm in the software and pay for our intern to search and check the deals and write up the posts (as posts this long take a lot of time to write up) so they money is reinvested straight into Oz. It would also show your appreciation for our efforts so please use the affiliate links if you like a deal and decide to buy it.
It will NOT cost you any more - it will simply reduce Amazon's profits by a couple of bucks. Thank you so much.

Three of the items are particularly noteworthy:

The Beem D1000.641 (silver) 3 in 1 is a breakfast station which includes a coffee maker, kettle, and a toaster. At $134 delivered excellent value for money.

The Beem - D2000.650 - Fresh Aroma-Perfect - V2 has an integrated coffee bean grinder.

someone post a nice 55" TV deal!!!

    • +1

You can get a cheap Plasma this size if you have a power station in the garden.

    • Soniq REFURB 55" 100Hz LCD Full HD $735 delivered -
      http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/lcd%20tv/soniq…

    • haha yes i need 55" LED too, and needs to be sony so it is integrated with my ps3 and surround sound system …altho amazon.de changed their shipping cap since the last TV deal on here :/

      • another vote for 55"LED
        or 60"LED… under 2k.

      • Actually, given the size that is irrelevant as even before the change, the rule was that TVs up to 47 could be shipped - everything over that would not. Until the change that, this will just be wishful thinking. TVs are generally cheaper over there and since you remove almost 20% VAT, this pays for the shipping on a $1000 TV.

        • Ooh. So does that mean I can buy 42" TV from there? Thinking of Sony EX650 and Costco has raised prices from $749 to $849

        • No, that particular one won't ship. Toshibas of that size might.

  • i still don't get why you'd wanna pay over $300 for a 'fan' …. i could buy 10 x $30 normal fans that does the same job (if not better and quieter) and still have leftover money for lunch - food for thought lol

    • There is no way its equivalent to 10 fans, maybe 2-3.

    • Seems you're 99% paying for the looks. People pay many times more for designer furniture, guess they're willing to pay for stylish appliances too.

    • I agree with you but it is a pretty cool fan. The reason is the same reason why people buy Apple - for design, it looks sleek and cool, and some still to be a bit different. However, if you have seen one in action it is unlikely you find a normal blade fan that is quieter - I have never seen one that is quieter.

    • Because it was invented by James Dyson, the second most famous engineer in the world!

BTW, what voltage power do they use in France for these? Are they 240V like us and only require plug adaptor or do you need a transformer to use these imports?

    • Have you used the dyson blade hand dryers at all? My local Sizzler recently installed them in their rest rooms, quite funky but I bet they're worth a serious dollar or eleventeen. They do a good job, I'd still rather paper towel personally though.

I don't know if these "fans" put out the same amount of air, if they do I hope they do it in a quieter fashion than the hand driers.

      • They are pretty good. Not loud and quite a lot of air.
The AM04 is particularly cool IMO as it also heats up the air if you want it to and then becomes a heater.

      • +2

i would like to have one of those hand dryers installed in the kitchen…. beats reusing that same rag everytime i wash my hands.

        • You're looking at around $1200 last time I looked, plus installation. I believe Phillips has a similar system that's much cheaper

        • +1

hate to admit… this dyson hand dryer is faster and more efficient. I wash my hands multiple times during an entire cooking session. (I guess I'm messy lol) so the air blade would make more pratical sense.

        • apparently hand driers arent recommended because they blow out bacteria as well - best way is to use paper towels

        • dyson hand driers have a hepa filter, filters the "bad" air before blowing your hands dry, unlike conventional ones.

        • +1

@vino89 well… i can see where you are coming from, but for example, when i'm deep frying and i just cracked an egg and got some of the egg on my hands, i go have a quick wash with my hands, i want to have a quick dry just enough that I don't splatter water into a wok full of hot oil. ;)

paper towels in this case isn't necessary as i am not handling food with my bare hands… but using paper towels are kind of a waste of paper in this same instance too.

so when you do about 20 eggs or so, I would get quite tired of washing my hands.

(reason i wash hands is i don't want to cross contaminate, since I've touched the shells and the whites.)

      • lol yea ive seen those Dyson hand driers around uni - pretty loud i reckon. i personally think paper towel is the way to go too

      • Certainly quieter than the hand dryer. Not silent by any means though, and they don't push out a huge amount of air. Still nice looking things but.

    • You'll not get a $30 fan that's much quieter. And the Dyson ones have no buffering and are way more pleasant to sit in front of.

  • +4

    Gerry Harvey must hate you

    • +2

Possibly - it has been quite a while since I, my friends, or family bought any appliance which can be shipped in Australia as they are cheaper overseas.
But he could just lower prices (and his profit margin) and the problem would be solved.

    • Gerry Harvey has more enemies than friends lol

    • Gerry Harvey has no shortage of affiliate links.

  • Do these bladeless fans actually cool the air? With bladed fans all they do is blow the same (hot) air into you, and it's just the wind effect (like opening a window in a moving car) that feels cool. The room temp stays the same.

    • Mainly the cooling comes from the wind but the few times I have seen one in a shop it seemed to me that the air was cooler. Might have been only my impression though. One advantage they have over blade fans is that they are quieter. Also, they are cleaner as no dirt, dust, or rust on blades as there aren't any. And of course, they do look stylish and still amaze people how they can blow air out of a hole.

      • the air feels cooler at the shops because of the environment (aircon).

but the no dirt/dust/rust on blades is a misconception.

have a think… how do they manage to expel air ?

        • By vibrating the air molecules.

        • +3

          lol.

but well, good luck cleaning the actual blades. ;)

        • but the no dirt/dust/rust on blades is a misconception.

the fan is that the bottom of the shaft (where the holes are) so the dust is accumulated there.

        • Ok, so there is a blade but it is well protected from all the crap so really much cleaner than a traditional fan and nice to look at. ;-)

        • Sorry, but we here on 21st century Earth haven't yet achieved anything like the level of technology that you Timelords may be used to ;D

        • +2

Oops, sorry. I forgot that you still have to invent the sonic screwdriver and other sonic technology. I will return in 200 years if the Earth still exists by then.

        • +2

please take justin bieber with you. the future needs a good singer and entertainer.

if you could, please go back about 70 years back and register a toilet company called 'Apples' and has a range of products starting with 'i' (iClean, iWipe, iWash toilets!) to my name.

          thanks.

        • +1

Sorry, not even I with my ability to regenerate can cope with that. You have brought that upon yourselves - so sort it out yourselves. I am busy enough saving you from the Daleks and Cybermen. The human race has an amazing ability to withstand obstacles and set backs so certainly you can deal with Justin Bieber!

    • Just a regular fan in terms of cooling, won't lower the room temp

    • you cant cool a room without putting that heat energy somewhere. That would normally be putting the heat out of the room using a heat pump (portable aircon) vented out of the room.

Fans will slightly warm a room really as the device itself warms up during use.

      • +1

Well, I guess for those that like fans and like the newest gadget/fan this is a good deal given the prices in Australia. If I bought one of these I would go for the one that can heat, too.

  • Hey Gallifrey, where's the best place to buy an Asus TF300 or Sony Tablet S? I looked on amazon.it, but can't figure out how much it's going to cost without going through the entire checkout process and risking actually buying it…

    • I will check.

  • Can we get the prices next to the things they apply to in the subject for these things from now on?
"Cherries 3.59, Apples 2.50, Oranges 6.00" Actually makes sense.

    • I am limited in terms of space.
What I did was list the price for the item in the picture, the cheapest ground coffee maker, the cheapest AEG bagless vac, the cheapest Blu-Ray set hence making all the prices from prices.
If there was more room in the title (maybe 2 lines) I certainly would do as you suggest.
Please accept my apologies if I caused confusion.

      • +1

        I think you misunderstand.
"TV $324, Video $123, Jafflemaker $89" is good

"TV, Video, Jafflemaker - $324, $123, $89" Is hard to read and doesn't make much sense.

No apologies necessary, just trying to help you get more people clicking through…

        • Oh, when I started and Ozbargain combined my posts that was how they did it. I just kept doing it that way.

        • Nope. We don't do it the latter way (and I've mentioned this a couple of times). The way gilorian said is probably the most comprehensive way to write it out but not required.

  • dyson bladeless fan = waste of money

  • Just a note. I can't be certain but that Beem - D2000.619 looks suspiciously similar to Sunbeam EM2800 which retails at about $110 in Australia.

If you like AEG brand Amazon.es lists AEG Electrolux Easypresso EA110 at EUR 90,61 and AEG EA260, Blanco EUR144.69..
I was going to buy EA110 personally but I was uneasy about teflon coated boiler and I wasn't sure about warranty so I went with a different brand.

    • I did inquire about warranty - Bosch will honour it in Australia as long as the product is not too old. So I suggest you go for that if you are worried about that.
I am not a hundred per cent certain but the similarity to Sunbeam might be a fluke - I do not think the companies are related and the quality of the Beem is actually quite high. Personally, I like the combined coffee and espresso machine.

Update: I checked. Companies are not related. Beem is quality made in Germany.

      http://shop.beem.de/

      • Thanks for the clarification Gallifrey. Keep up the good work!

        • Thank you. I will try to.

  • These are other options (excluding shipping) if you are after an espresso machine. Not sure if it's cheaper than local :p
    DeLonghi Espressomaschine EC 330 S - EUR 119,00 (Amazon.de)
    Saeco - Poemia Cafetera Espresso Class Hd832501 - EUR 100,00 (Amazon.es)
    De Longhi - EC820B - EUR 217,07 (Amazon.fr)

    • Have you checked whether they ship? DeLonghi normally does not ship from Germany. Also, the shipping varies greatly so it is quite difficult to determine whether they are deals or not. That is why I like the Beem combined one - you get both worlds for a cheap price.
But thanks for pointing them out - those interested will find out whether shipping is possible and how much it is.

      • Doesn't look like EC330 can be shipped to Australia :(

        • Sorry. No idea how they determine which brand can be shipped from one country but not from another is beyond me - I tried DeLonghi from Germany before and not a single product I tried worked.

so please use the affiliate links if you like a deal and decide to buy it. It will NOT cost you any more - it will simply reduce Amazon's profits by a couple of bucks.

Such assertions by Gallifrey re profits are easily challenged.

Payments to affiliates increases the overall costs to Amazon, who are after all the entity actually providing these deals. A firm confronting increased costs will generally seek to recover those costs by increasing overall pricing. The affiliate commission payment may not then simply translate to a reduction in Amazon profits as claimed. Indeed referral payments will likely cost the average Amazon consumer more over time.

For the uninitiated, referral links within comments are not allowed. Me & my team of indented student labour will soon commence developing patentable algorithms & heuristics to detect & report breaches of OB guidelines.

Please feel free to use my affiliate link.

    • +2

Ozbargain uses Amazon affiliate links to anyone who is not logged in, so your idea of this post raising the prices of Amazon is laughable.

      • -2

The fact that OB also uses affiliate links has no relevance to the point i was making.

You should not assume I am against affiliate links. I am not. I was simply challenging the assertion re Amazon's profits as too simplistic.

However it is also more complex than i have described, given the posting of a deal can trigger an Amazon sale that otherwise may not have occurred (increasing Amazon's turnover & potentially profits), and without the affiliate incentive the deal is unlikely to have been posted in the first place.

Things are never as simple as they first appear…

  • The Dyson AM04 is cheaper via Spain including shipping (around 3 euros cheaper)

    http://www.amazon.es/Dyson-AM04-20-58-3000/dp/B005NIBJ54/ref…

    • Thank you for pointing that out. Will amend - it is only true for the silver one though.

  • +ve for not throwing the kitchen sink in, prices not so much.
