And they were dealing with someone who thought getting out of their house and walking 30 metres (to get their free chips) was beneath them…

    • +16

Doordash drivers do not get paid enough to deal with your bullshit, so kindly (profanity) off.

      • -6

LOL. But within seconds of support telling her to get out of her car and deliver it to my door (which is the whole point of delivery), she suddenly knew how to find my unit. Funny that. She could have been going to her next job 15 minutes earlier, but it was beneath her to walk up a driveway, knock on the door, say here you go.

        • +3

Jesus christ, you must be a real treat.

        • +3

          Found the Karen

          • @montorola: The service is Doordash. They deliver to the door. It's even in the name. If someone isn't comfortable walking 30m to someone's door and handing it over they should find another profession.

I really don't understand why everyone is on the side of the driver. I proved that my unit was easy to find because she found it immediately after being told by support to deliver it. She was lying about not being able to find my unit.

            • +7

@Responsible borrower: We don't care. We know the exact type of person you are based on your complaint and we don't like you, hence the downvotes. Move on and go reflect on yourself.

              • @FallaM: Are there any lessons in this for the driver?

Or should she just be allowed to continue half doing her job and lying about not being able to find peoples addresses?

    • +8

Wtf lying about a disability that's messed up

      • -8

The driver lying about not being able to find my unit (within 60 seconds of hanging up she suddenly could make the 30 metre walk to my unit, my fries being half eaten and seal broken on the bag is messed up.

I have to lie when I'm dealing with someone so unreasonable.

        • +10

          You should be embarrassed, wow

        • I have to lie when I'm dealing with someone so unreasonable.

You are the most reasonable person in the entire galaxy.

    • +2

Is your disability that you're a See you in the NT?

      Consider deleting this comment mate

      • The reason why I can't leave my unit does not matter and is no-one's concern. I ordered it wanting it delivered to my door.

The fact she was able to deliver it in the next 60 seconds goes to prove how easy it was for her to do the most fundamental part of her job which is the delivery.

This is why we have Australia Post couriers leaving the leaflet in the door without knocking or throwing packages over the front fence. People tolerate being treated so poorly.

        • DoorDash requires you to pick up the order face to face… are you just unable to comprehend this?

either ways, your ‘incident’ is very familiar, I’ve seen a comedian write this very similar incident on Twitter for clicks. So why bother trying anymore if this is just bait since it’s now hidden and will be deleted by mods soon?

Imagine getting something for free and having a standoff with some young woman because meeting at the street when you live 30 meters down a driveway is beneath you. You've definitely the lazy b.

      • -1

She probably does it all the time, and every other customer stops what they are doing to walk down to the street because they don't want their overpriced food getting cold. All because the driver is too lazy, or thinks it is beneath her to be delivering food face to face.

        Normally she holds the leverage.

This time it didn't work in her favour.

  • mmm cold fries

    • Mine weren’t too bad but I only live 2km from McDonald’s.

  • mine arrived within an hour of ordering. $0 solid deal

  • arrived cold and soggy lmao

    • +1

yep same, put that in under "Get Help" in the order details and you'll get $3 of credit.

    • Mine was delivered 500m around the corner. Fresh and stacked (although could have used more salt)

  • Free large chips arrived, Thanks OP !

  • +16

Im going to share my entire experience.
I saw this promotoion on my google home page.
I came to ozbargain as i knew i would get the actual details here
    Enjoyed the negative comments
    Braced myself
    Ordered at 12.20
    Arrived at 12.40
Laid at my doorstep in the full sized 30cmx30cm bag, still taped
Within, a large fries… Still standing no less, the driver must have been amazing.
The fries, full to the brim as if i had paid for it, spared no expence!
    Two whole napkins
Slightly undersalted, Slightly undercooked, aka on par with the typical maccas experience
Two minutes in the air fryer and some chicken salt
    4.5/5

    Yes this is entirely wasteful
Doesnt really matter, human civilisation cant be saved

    • +1

Humanity was destoryed one chip at a time

  • +1

The free fries with free delivery were delicious 😋
    Thank you!

  • -1

I had $40+ DoorDash credits, yet despite my receipt for the free fries showing $0.00 they’ve taken the $12.81 it would have otherwise cost off my credits.

    • +1

Did you put in the code FREEFRIES at the checkout?

Mine also showed that it was deducting Door dash credits -$8.77. After putting in the code it changed to Discount $8.15.

      • -4

Actually I didn't put the code in. It was showing me $0.00 the whole way through the checkout process so I wrongly assumed it had automatically been applied.

  • Pretty sh*t for the delivery drivers who get paid nothing and have to take time away from other orders to deliver a cheapskate their large chips…

    • that was my first thought too but surely they're getting paid by doordash as per normal for these orders? DD would just be wearing the cost to try to get more people using the platform.

      • I sure hope so. It's still a weird deal to me, like this is the deal where I am now convinced this website is filled with strange people. There's a difference between finding great deals on the internet and then lunging at an opportunity to order driver-delivered chips out of pure laziness. It's odd.

        • +2

It took until now to realise how weird the ozbargain community is!??

    • They get paid for the delivery, not the size of the delivery, right?

    • Door dash drivers get paid the same regardless of size of the order. Their pay has to do with mileage mostly so this is actually good for the drivers but not so good for doordash

  • Thanks Op for sharing chucked a burger and appe pie for free delivery with the free fries couldn't be happier.

  • I dont know how they are getting away with charging nearly $5 for a large fries and its always barely 3/4 full.

  • +1

Never received mine, tracking showed them down the road, got $14.98 in credits.

  • works Cheers!!!

  • +2

Kind of insane this normally costs $11.75

  • I can't remember the last time I used Doordash. Logged in, placed the order and my account got locked then deactivated 5 minutes later….

    • +1

Just happened to me too, after trying to put an order with the freefries code

    • Huh. Didn't know that happened with DoorDash.
I used to get that instantly with Uber Eats that it happened to me more than… 50 times (No joke) that Uber to this day never fixed my account as it keeps happening.
Never knew the same happens with DoorDash that's a first for me.

  • Ordered delivery in CBD but asked them to leave it at the store for me to pick up

Dasher checked and confirmed it was ready, pretty good!

  • +1

Thanks OP, had a chat with the driver and tipped him as he came from awhile away. Currently eating the hot yet soggy free-ish fries

  • +1

Quick. Not soggy. Ever so slightly cold. But no complaints.

  • +1

    And deal is finished

  • Is it over?

  • -2

Just ordered as I woke up late and was lucky to take advantage of this.
All service fees on EVERYTHING should be dropped.

  • Ordered 2x fries (mine and partners accounts) at exact same time from same store to same address but they still got delivered separately :P
One was lukewarm and crispy, the other was lukewarm and soggy.
Imagine if you had paid for this though lol

  • +1

Mine came with extra double cheese burger without patty. Lol

  • +1

Well my $0 fries were apparently delivered 15 minutes ago but havent been able to find them anywhere and driver unresponsive.

Doordash issued me $14.80 credit straight away. I'll take the credit over the chips to be honest.

  • I tried ordering at 2:40pm and it said "not available"

  • -4

Doordash gave me a credit for my shoddy treatment.

    • Ya donkey

  • I don't mind soggy fries, as it's expect for a delievery, but half filled??? No.

    • The drivers must eat them. The middle seal was undone on mine.

  • First time using Doordash and was very impressed with my free chips delivered order! Prompt delivery, packaging was still sealed and food was still warm. Much better experience than with Deliveroo which the driver took one whole chicken and peri-peri chips from my other half of my Nando’s order that I had ordered.

  • Just got my scheduled fries! Yum

  • gotta give my review, chips were fantastic, delivery was quick and easy. three orders all hot, one had overdone chips, but those were the best ones tbh

  • I wrote a whole story about my experience but here is the summary.
    It wasn't good.
    I ordered at 2.17pm
I watched as McDonald's said the Fries were ready …
Then I noticed my DoorDash person was 10 mins away .. which stretched to 15 .. which stretched to the order being picked up at 2.53 .. 36 mins after ordering, That was disappointing to know.

    I live 2.4 kms away ..
The Dasher stopped twice on the way ..
Then when they arrived - they couldn't find my place. They said their GPS had them be a street away, my app had them downstairs.
Eventually 63 mins after ordering I received my Fries .. my free Fries in my hands in front of the apartment buildings.
Thumbs up for the Free Fries but I think this points to a bigger issue that is .. the Dasher might be 35 mins away from picking up the fresh order and then might picked up other stops on the way.
I think we'll probably won't go for Door Dash again.

    • +1

Apartments have never been amazing for deliveries

      • Would he get paid extra for the extra time he put in or just nah? Sad story. Somehow expected from dashers who are not from the local maybe.

        • They usually get a base rate of like $3 then i think its like 75cents to $1 per km. Some customers expect the drivers to go all the way up to their room for a delivery when their already earning pennies

  • got my scheduled fries, fresh and hot
