  • record low?

    • Got mine for $279 from Catch in March this year (midnight blue)

      • +4

Lowest would have been an import from Catch ($260) vs local stock here but personally not too worried about that as my imported QC35 headset from 2017 is still going with no issues (replaced the ear cushions a few times though). Considering an upgrade to QC45 purely for USB C!

        • I bought from Catch that time for $260, apparently was actually local stock.

  • 700 or 45?

    • +2

found the 700s too tight and would be so uncomfortable for long periods. The 45's felt good so I got those, so depends on your head shape I guess?

      • also 45 is lighter than 700

      • +2

anything on the head will get uncomfortable eventually
i loved my QC20i in ear ones from 2015. super comfortable but not wireless like everything nice these days and the little plug and box can be cumbersome but I loved it on the planes/trains
so much better than these over the head ones. PS I had the QC35 before - lasted one week before I sold it on FB. head stared hurting after 20min on train and ruined hairstyle :P
i still have my QC20i but battery doesnt have much left and plastic has gone pretty manky

    • +6

I rate the 35/45 over the 700, but just a personal pref.

I find the 700 isn't as comfortable walking around etc.

    • I'm questioning 35 vs 45.
      They both win over 700.

    • 700 has better sound quality and the noise cancelling is clearer and tbh I found them more comfortable over the 45's (big head here).

      • +1

I have both. The only thing I don't like about 700 is the earcups are not as deep and sometimes the ears touch inside cups otherwise better specially for calls.

    • +1

run to jb hi fi and try, but need to try it for 20 min to find the feel.

      • +2

I tried the 700 in JBHiFi and found the headband uncomfortably hard on top of my head, and too tight on the sides of my head, also too bassy - I want to keep my hearing in old age

we have 2 pairs of Bose - QC35 and QC35ii - ideal for long overseas flights - still got a QC15 wired no longer used somewhere in storage

I've tried multiple 'noise cancelling' headphones - from Aldi (hurt my ears - tossed those), Sennheiser (couldn’t get to pair - no), Apple AirPods Pro and some other big brand of $400 in-earbuds, and a recent purchase of $97.50 Anker Soundcore Space A40 Bluetooth wireless earbuds blue after reading this top recommendation in the NYTimes - https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-wireless-ear… - (all of those noise cancelling ? - none that I noticed in careful testing)

so I stick with the Bose QC35s - 'cos they just work - when I first used to wonder if they really cancelled any noise cos' I could still hear traffic or jet engine noise, I'd lift them off the ears for a moment to check, and typically go OMG THAT'S SO LOUD !!!! - and quickly realise they reduced the noise by a massive amount - just that the ear adjusts to a quieter level and it's easy to assume that's noisy.

        • +1

          Plus they fold

Price matched & used my birthday voucher at my local JB as well!

      User name checks out

  • +2

How do these compare to the 35’s? Were there much changes?
I have 35s so I’m not sure if worth the upgrade. Tempting at this price.

    • +1

Hi @JoKing I'm in the same "boat" as you are in, having QC 35 and loving it BUT is it the time to upgrade? would love to know the thoughts from the ones who have being using this for a while/got one recently. Thanks!.

    • +2

My daughter has her QC35 for several years and she said they are working and sound perfect for her,
I actually like the Bose logo design on the 35, as appose to the painted on on the QC45 earcups.
The painted logos tend to wear off after a while.

    • +1

Google some reviews to decide if the changes are worth it to you. It's not an upgrade in every aspect.

      • +1

yeah - general impression is QC35 is the most popular and no reason to 'upgrade' to QC45 which had various software glitches, and people don't like the touch controls and prefer the buttons, etc.

        • +2

QC45 still has buttons, not touch. Did you read about the 700s (has touch control)? I tried a friends (700) set, I don't like them.

    • +1

Much worse call quality in noisy environments. Usbc vs microusb. I found the Bluetooth quality better with my mac with much less lag or dropout. Otherwise almost the same.

      • Do you mean the 45s are worse call quality in noisy environments?

        • Yes.

        • The 45's don't have an option to turn the noise cancelling to a lower level when it is windy like the 35's.

I bought the 45's thinking it was an upgrade but for me they are way worse, they sound horrible when it is windy and the same as 35's when it is not.

  • +2

Good deal! Have a pair, have no problem recommending them to family and friends.

  • I have a set of these, not too bad.

The "mute" button combo is next to useless so if like me you think to buy this headset to use with MSTeams or whatever hoping to be able to easily mute the mic from the headset… nah its not really workable. it requires you to double press the "action" button. I find it rarely detects a "double press".

Battery is ok.. It will last a whole work day of talking and listening to music fairly easily or two days of on /off music and calls. nothing more than that.

Charge time is a little slower than I'd like.

I do however like the ability to hook into two devices at the same time, very handy.

    • I do however like the ability to hook into two devices at the same time, very handy.

Anoying when on a call, and you get a sound notification from mobile.

      • Can you disable the simultaneous connection with 2 devices? i.e. set it up so only one device at a time will sound on the headphones.. realise its still not ideal; a pain to have to manual swap connections between 2 devices.
Asking about the setting because I'm thinking of getting a pair - will want to use it for work telecons too.

    White smoke is $284.05 now

  • +3

Purchased this 8 hours ago on Amazon for $300 … :-(

    • +2

      Cancel order and reorder.

      • They would all have shipped by now.

        • Ordered last night and it hadn't shipped, was able to cancel and reorder.

          • @Turffe: Interesting. Yeah mine said shipped with tracking number already. Perhaps it hasn't actually been shipped, but depending on time of day etc they will choose different carrier methods, so it's all a crapshoot and random. That said, they should be able to automate this whole process.

    • Amazon sometimes reimburses the difference. So try contacting them

      • Tried that via chat and phone support. The best I got was an "exception" of providing me with half the difference ~$7 in Amazon credit. Poor show by Amazon, as it was advertised as the "Prime Day Deal" price in both instances. Buying a second and returning is just wasteful.

    • -5

so you're worried about $15? lol

    • -1

That was me. I ordered another one and will return the original order and get a full refund. I asked the rep that since Amazon provides free return label, whether they could just issue a difference without the hassle from both parties and the answer was no.

    • I asked via chat and they said they will issue the difference to my account once it has been delivered. Not sure if true but I've captured screenshots of the chat log as reference. I ordered 2 hours before they reduced the price to $284.

    • -1

Reorder and return the new one under the first order. Problem solved

    • Good price $369. I highly recommend you going to nearest JBHIFI or any store which would have both on display to try them on. You might see some differences on paper but go with how you feel after putting them on.

      • +1

SONY hurt my big ears pressing on the base of the shallow earcups which would be excruciating on a 8-14 hour flight - Bose have a deeply angled earcup I've just measured at deepest 32mm from the outer pad so my outer ears don't touch/rub painfully on the bottom - SONY was probably no more than 20mm and possibly even less.

        • My ears become hot using xm4 , will bose be better?

        • Yeah. For a long time i was believing that sony will do for me. But after trying them in store, i was turned to BOSE.

    • According to my experience with QC15 and WH-1000XM2, bose is more comfortable than Sony.

  • still have received my order from TGG :(

    • I have canceled my weborder from goodguys. Will get it from JB with gift cards now

      • All good so far, paid similar + delivery, but meant to get $12.55 back in cashrewards, so still ahead.

        • The only thing would be that JB hi-fi you can get it today from the store whereas the good guys, I think that order will be delivered around 17th.

i have seinheiser urbanite xl from 8 years ago and I'm constantly looking at these deals… but i never wear them unless I'm travelling which is, what, once a year.

    nevertheless, I'm still tempted. ugh

  • +1

Don't forget 5% Shopback with the westpac card. Might be an ATL

  • Suck's they're restricted to Aussie addresses only, when you pick NZ they go out of stock :P

  • +1

Does anyone find these ‘over cancel’ on some noises? Sharp noises like metal clinking together (e.g. taking cutlery out of the dishwasher) generate a sharp unpleasant response from the QC’s. I have no idea how to google this. Also can’t change the level of noise cancellation or pass through ambient sound which is frustrating.

  • These or the sound core q45

  • +1

any deals on the sony xm5? or too new..

    • Too new, there's a deal on xm4

  • +1

how does the QC45 perform when paired with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iMac)
    - does it switch seamlessly between the devices?
    - any intermittent connect/disconnects if all devices are within range?
    - is the mic & noise cancellation good for MS Teams calls?

    • yes

    • I have received mine today. Between iPhone and Macbook, it switches pretty seamlessly. Haven't noticed any intermittent connect/disconnect and mic&noise cancellation was really good for Teams calls. But, adding an additional device (iPad) - it loses the ability to switch to the first device connected (which was my Macbook).

I will still be using it over my Airpod Pro because it sounds much better and Airpod Max is bulky and super expensive.

  • +6

It still pisses me off that after a year of promises, bose still hasn't released a firmware patch to give the headphones mode where both the nose cancelling and pass through modes are off. Just a normal music only playing mode. This is so important if you ever plan on going outside in a windy day since with either of these on, your headphone's ANC is going to go crazy making them unusable.

    • Did they promise this? I’m looking for a set to use outside in the wind this would really annoy me

  • So annoyed my 35ii are still going strong. While I use my AirPods pro mostly, the Bose are awesome for watching the Ashes etc at night from the AppleTV in the room without waking the missus.

  • Something like this give good audio for watching tv at night and not disturbing others?

  • How often these go on sale. ?0

  • +1

Bose has matched jbhifi at $299.95, with student beans $40 off it comes to $259.95

  • +4

The Bose noise cancelling headphones are terrific for people who are forced to suffer in open plan offices.
The noise cancellation gives you a chance of being able to actually concentrate on you work without being distracted by the productivity killing background noise that goes with open plan offices.

    • Not a fan of people? And yea, I have a pretty decent corporate job.

      • +1

I'm sure they are a fan of people they choose to be around, which often aren't work colleagues.

      • Depends on your work colleagues and their behaviors, the environment you are in etc.

Heck I'm good mates with a gentlemen who I wouldn't want to work next to. Has a very loud and deep phone voice and it's very distracting. Doesn't make him a bad person, just harder for some to work around.

Even people talking at a regular volume, with enough people in an open office that can be a lot of background noise. If it doesn't effect you, or you can reliably zone it out as needed, then great - but for others there are noise cancelling headphones!

  • They come with a case please?

    • Yep

  • +1

Just got a pair from jbhifi for 285, down to $250 using ultimate gift cards from Coles with the +15% deal. Have $2.50 left over. Great deal
