1.0 out of 5 stars Bikes fell while driving
Reviewed in Australia on 3 February 2023
    Size Name: 3-PackVerified Purchase
The 2 top traps got undone while driving at 80 kmph on Burns Bay Road in Sydney. The bikes were an 8.2kg road bike and a 16.6kg Mountain Bike. The bikes were severely damaged and written off. We got lucky that there were no cars behind us else this would’ve caused a police case.

    • thats a review of not the one listed in the deal.
Thats the 3-rack strapped to the back of the vehicle type.

(not that Id likely trust a $10 bike rack regardless, but at least read reviews applicable to the item)

e.g this ones for the "4-pack" rack listing

I got this rack, I used it once and my bikes were bouncing around like crazy, I was so nervous never used it again. I just have it sitting in my shed

It amazes me how some people can be brave/ignorant enough to buy a no name bike rack that can easily destroy a bike or even worse cause an accident. If you are driving a bike around, most likely it is for pleasure so the bike are likely to cost at least $1000+. I dont like relying on a $10 rack for that.

Also I dont believe there are any mandatory standards and testing requirements for bike racks so it all comes down to the manufacturer's conscience and budget.

  • That is some pretty terrible Photoshop work on the listing.

A rack that costs 10.99 carrying a bike worth thousands… nice!

These style of racks are a great way to damage your bikes as they swing around and the pedals bash into each other. Avoid these unless you're transporting your bike to the rubbish tip.

  • 96% still available. Bought one, will cancel after reading the comments:)

  • I am int he market for this very same type of product.

Take a look at FB marketplace and Gumtree, there are several of these exact ones.

  • Bought the same bike rack 2 years ago and have used it a few times for our kids bikes locally. The last trip was taking 3 large mountain bikes from Melb to Korrumburra. ~1.5hrs on the highway. Yes the rack bounces a little more than other racks but no issues so far. I did strap the bikes together to the post in case the plastic straps break as an extra precaution. (paid $65 two years ago)
