Note these can be configured as a stereo pair, so nice deal!

    • Yes have 2 sets as stereo pairs (one at home) and one in the office.

I canceled my single $19 order and got these two instead. I will end up with 6 dots, an Echo Show 5, Echo Spot and a full-size Echo. Over the top for sure!!!!

    Great Christmas stocking fillers

Cheap enough to use as a basic Bluetooth speaker if you are offline. $23.20 post cashback which equates to $11.60 each.

Yeah, this passes the ozbargain test. Thanks OP

dang it. didn't need. bought. thanks.

  • Can these be used as a cheap speaker by connecting to the 3.5mm out port from a TV?

    • +1

no, this one only supports BT

    • They have 3.5mm for line-out only.

    • If your TV can do BT, then yes. They do have a 3.5mm but it's output from the device to speakers only.

      • Thanks for the replies all.
        Bummer…

  • If I buy these 2 and put them either side of the sofa, can a samsung frame tv connect them together via Bluetooth and make it work as a surround sound system?

    • Cant speak for Samsung TV but, I once paired with Chromecast with Google TV and got very frequent audio delay

    • Not exactly what you asked, but i have a Firestick and two Echo Dot 4 set up as a budget home theatre. Supports ARC so i can have anything plugged into the TV also come through. (PS5, freeview, etc)

      • I think dot 3 can’t be set up with a firestick isn’t it? Probably no ARC support

    • Trying to build a poor man's surround sound. I'll give you B+ for efforts 😂

  • How are these with Home Assistant? We have issues with Google products understanding our commands. Also my text-to-speech alert (using Node-RED) simply goes "ON" instead of "The washing machine has finished" lol.

I haven't finished following the instructions to make a custom skill to let you put voice commands into HA from the echos, but I have gone the other way, and have the basic alerts/voice/etc from HA to echos working, and that was pretty easy. Front door motion sensor is zigbee into HA. When it senses motion, HA sends a doorbell sound to all my echos in my house. (My doorbell will also do that if pressed, but apparently all delivery couriers and uber eats drivers have lost all their fingers in some horrific mass accident, as they never press the doorbell).
I've also got custom phrases like 'your FDM print has finished' working.

Cool, thanks. I'll grab a couple now to play with and maybe grab some more the at the next sale if they work out well.

Good idea with the door chime. I might try something similar with my porch camera.

Note that these cannot be used with the Fire TV 4K Max for the 'home theater' setup. It requires Dot Gen 4 or 5.

    • sad faced!

    • Saved me from the anguish of whether I should get the 2x 4k Fire Sticks, even though I only need one. Thanks

    • +1

How do you use them together? As speakers for the content the Fire TV 4k Max displays?

      • +1

Set up your Firestick & Echo 4/5 on the same network and open the alexa app and choose to set up home theatre. And if you're plugged into the ARC port all TV sound will come through them.

        • Thats pretty cool, Shame I have so many soundbars and Home theatre gear as it is in the rooms. But This sounds cool for when you travel and like to have nice sound while travelling for movies and tv shows.

  • Is there much difference between these and the older echo dots? I have a few 1st and 2nd gen, not even opened yet.

  • Note that if you bought an Echo Dot for $19 in this current promotion (including over the past weekend), then you can't obtain this deal.

It limits your purchase quantity to one (for $19 again).

    • Maybe another account? ;-)
