Seems like this goes for over $1000 in Australia. Currently on special at B&H. I believe it expires today or tomorrow.

  • This link is for the MAC version.

Link for Windows version (same price): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/889249-REG/Adobe_Photo…

OP, you might want to put that in the details.

  • Would that be available much cheaper at uni through their IT programmes? I know that at some unis in Brisbane students can install Photoshop and other Adobe products for free on their computers.

But if you want to use if for Business reasons though….cause you legal really should own a copy.

  • This was on special yesterday and was quickly out of stock, looks like it's back in stock again.

  • wow this is heaps cheap!

Not sure if Adobe let them ship software to Australia…

    • They do, but I am not sure if license agreement is supposed to allow it? I thinkt heir license says only supposed to be used in location you bought it etc… but they want about 3 time the price here. I would have thought the FTA with USA means we should be able to use it? But I am no lawyer..

But nore sure if they're supposed to ship them or not.

  • I thought the deal with Adobe now was that you sign up for monthly memberships for whole suites? Wouldn't that be better?

  • Wouldn't you be better off signing up to 'Adobe Creative Cloud' where you get all the CS products for $50 per month ($600 per year)?

I understand it's an ongoing cost, but if you think about it Adobe release a new version of CS roughly every 2 years so you're paying $1200 for the FULL CS package and it also allows you to install on both Mac and PC (although you can only use one at a time). Plus if you're using it for a business it's most likely tax deductable.

    • But you've forgotten that after you buy full edition once, you only have to pay for updates. Updates for just lightroom and photoshop (if that's all you use) would be much cheaper.

Plus, they charge Australians an extra 20% or so (I think $63 per month) - even though our dollar is still higher. No choice to choose to pay $50 USD per month.

      • Renewal being cheaper than full purchase is a good point. I though it cost about $3500 for the CS6 Master suite, or about $1500 to upgrade from CS5 (or about $2000 to upgrade from CS3 or CS4).

So it looks like Adobe have based their price on a 2 year cycle charging essentially an upgrade fee, obvious downside is that if after X years you decide to stop paying a monthly fee you're left with nothing not even an old version.

Also if your needs are such that you only need PS then deals like this ozbargain are obviously still good.

If you are just after CS6 and not lightroom.. Adorama has a special for $249 (roughly $300 after shipping)

  • From my previous talk with Adobe, you won't be able to activate the software here in Australia if you purchase it in US.

The only way you can use it in Australia is, you need to get someone in US to activate the license, deactivate the license, and re-install it on your PC in Australia.

    • Hmm, I think I'll wait for more info on this before I make the purchase as I don't have anyone in the US to activate and deactivate for me and I don't want to spend so much money to find I can't use it here.

In the related node, the OP seemed to have no trouble activating the Adobe software, but was CS5.5 - not the latest 6.

You can always err on the side of caution, but B&H do have a good returns policy - but still painful and costly to send back to USA I suppose.

        • For softwares, once you open the seal, you can' get a refund. The most you can get is a replacement CD (if the CD arrives faulty).

    • You could use a US VPN to activate (if that's the restriction), perhaps something like TunnelBear and their free allowance. Not sure if you need to sign in to use it every time you use PS though?

I have purchased several Adobe software packages from BHPHOTO over the last few years and they always activate no problem.

Was CS6 one of those packages?

  • PrIce is now $789 looks like the deal is over.
