  • I know they are different, but would it be as efficient as the miele c3 in terms of suction?

    • I have the C3 (Cats & Dogs) and Dyson V7. The V7 is powerful enough for my needs that the C3 is rarely ever used nowadays.

    • To counter the other person, no.

I have a V10 and it is no comparison at all to the C3. But this is a Gen5 with new motor tech, so you prob need a direct comparison, it's quite a bit more powerful.

  • Can get some store cash too

Pay using discounted gift cards from Coles (ultimate home) to save an additional 13%. Should bring it down to ~$870

    • +2

      This is the way!

    • Thanks bud. Is there a maximum amount of these Ultimate Gift Cards you could use on the Good Guys website to pay towards the vacuum? I heard form reading other posts the Ultimate Gift Cards only come in $50/$100 denominations making it a pain to use and stores only accept a certain limit? Any experience on this as if that's the case an extra 13% discount has me sold :)

      Much appreciated!

I had Home/Hers/Him gift cards and used them at JB instead, had 10x$100 and the folks at JB were cool with it, as long as they're out of the packaging and scratched off, and it's not to busy, they'll do it.

        • Cool. I just read the thread around the Ultimate Gift Cards and there seems to be issues with the Bonus 15% (13%) as many are reporting that Coles have pulled the deal and also after activating their Gift Cards the Bonus isn't showing. I am a bit worried now to go down this path if it fails. Might wait for another deal on this Vac for around the $870 mark. Thanks for your sharing your experience.

@darkknightwayno: The issue has been resolved and was only a problem with specific cards. I purchased 5 x $100 ultimate home gift cards and all got the bonus 15% added to them

            • @TechNerd: Legend. Thanks for the assurance and confirmation. Off to Coles Now. Ill update you guys, how I go. Thanks a ton.

Unfortunately you can only use one of these gift cards online. I dont think there is a limit in store. Best way to pay online would be to get a good guys gift card in store with split transactions using ultimate gift cards. Or if the store has stock, you could just pay in store.

Alternatively if you are having trouble with the good guys instore, head over to JB and do a price match. I've paid in store with 14 gift cards previously so shouldnt be an issue at JB. Also JB seem to be less strict about converting Ultimate gift cards into JB Hifi gift cards for purchasing online (Ive also done this to pay online multiple times).

Used 40+ gift cards I used to pay for my LG CX + Soundbar at JB without issues. At the end of the day, it's a sale they want to make 50 gift cards be damned, they're not going to say no.

Thanks to you and everyone else in this wonderful Ozb Community all went to plan.

          1) Had to visit 3 Coles to get 9 x $100 Ultimate Home Gift Cards
          2) All activated with 15% extra meaning each Gift Card was loaded as $115
          3) Managed (Lucky) to get a further $40 Off instore on the $999 Price, making it $959
          4) If I calculate this correctly it ended up working out to $815.15 ($959 - 15%)

I just saw the Complete Model go on Sale at Dyson.com.au at $1049 but other than the floor dock, I wouldn't use the other 3 tools. If at all, maybe the awkward gap tool looks handy but can grab on Aliexpress for cheap.

Thanks again to everyone for your guidance and knowledge. Another Dyson added to the family!

PS- No Issue using all the 9 Gift Cards at the Good Guys. They were okay with the same and not a worry. Still have $76 left on 1 card to use lol

I scanned through the deal post for the gift cards and there's one comment from someone saying that JB accepted unlimited cards, but that TGG enforced a 5-card limit. Might be down to luck in terms of specific store policy or even which random employee you get though.

        EDIT: The relevant comment

  • hey guys from reviews this thing looks amazing, but anyone got any actual ozb feedback? I have a dog and 2 girls shedding in my house I need something decent!

    • +1

Yes, I bought last Saturday after seeing it at this price. I have a DC39 and a V8 Absolute, annnd I'll never be taking them out again (V8 has been donated).
This thing SUCKS, the amount of dog hair it picked up compared to the V8, the amount of dust it picked up compared to the V8, blew my mind.

You'll actually be disgusted by how dirty your floor/carpet actually is with the amount it picks up, I know I was.

It is heavier than the V8, but it last so much longer, and that's a win for us.

      • thanks for the feedback that has helped me with this purchase :)

      • he11bent how does it go in medium power mode ? low/eco mode is probably a waste of time but keen to know how medium does thanks

        • +2

From the little playing I've done I think when you have the carpet attachment on medium mode I think becomes 'auto' so it will slow down and speed up as needed… High mode is just silly strong (on our carpets any way and I need to have the gates at the front of the unit open to be able to move the unit over the carpets else it just sucks down and HOLDS with all that power)….

I did try eco mode for a bit on the carpet and to be honest it was actually doing a really good job I though as well (probably similar to my older V8 unit if not a little better so it's still really good I though) but I leave mine on Auto mode and you will probably find the first few times you clean it will ramp up due to the larger amounts of dirt but get better over time

          • +3

            @Jonc: This!

I've got rugs and carpet. leave it on auto, except for the rug, which is longer hair, then I'll use low/eco mode. Did High mode as a finisher on the normal carpet, IT SUCKS, I was afraid it might even pull the carpet out lol.

      • +2

Agree with this, I've had the V8, V6 and DC44… the V8 was by far the best of those but the new Gen5detect has been a big step up!

I've found it picks up allot more dirt from carpets and the new light really shows allot of dirt on hard floors (if you have OCD you might not like it.. hahaha), also the hair pickup is great and no issues at all with tangling on this new unit!

It's allot more powerful and the new auto mode works much better than the previous generation(s)… If you find the 'auto' mode is too strong (Eg, getting 'stuck' on the carpets and you can't push it you can adjust the openers at the front of the vacuum head or manually change to eco mode for example).. I've had this issue but was easy to resolve but essentially has now fixed it's self now that the carpets are much cleaner I think the air flows much better as it was picking up allot more on the first few goes.

The price is quite expensive really but it defiantly does a great job and at the discounted price on this deal I think it's a good deal.

  • My V6 battery just died and while I've just ordered one of those Ryobi One adapters for it, I'm probably in the market for a wholly new machine sometime this year. The introduction of a new generation motor seems as good a time as any to jump in, but I kinda want the full set of accessories with the website-exclusive Complete version too.

I'm not in any rush to buy, but does anyone know what the highest attainable discount from Dyson direct tends to be? There's ~20% off right now, but it'd need to be 35-40% to even be competitive with retailers so I'm not sure that ever happens.

I'd also welcome comments from people who do have the extra accessories (and floor dock) in terms of how useful they've been.

    • And just like that, someone just posted a deal for the Complete version. For $1049 minus 7% Cashrewards, I think that's what I'll jump on.

  • Under $900 and you have my Business Dyson/TGG/JB, whoever else would like to sell this Vacuum! Hoping BF brings out the beast of deals for this Vac. My V11 is still going super strong!
