Yep thanks have updated the listing

    • +1

I'm filthy. Just bought the absolute from JB on the weekend but wanted the complete ($999). Sat on it until prime day passed. Used it about 1 hour ago….

I wanted those accessories too, hose for car cleaning and the stand but would have like the dusting tool and extension. AliExpress have the clones of crevice tool, dusting brush and hose for about $40. I'll have to settle for them. $30 for a stand. Would be nice with genuine.

      Such is life.

      • Bugger

I was about to buy the Absolute yesterday from Dyson but held out.

Then last night the Good Guys deal dropped.

About 10:30am this morning Dyson dropped their prices to match the Good Guys.

      • Can you return the Absolute to JB and the Complete from Dyson?

        • I once saw a lady return a heater at TGG saying when she kept it at 20C, cold air didnt come out of it and they accepted it. I was like WTF! YMMV.

        • +1

Nah, used it can't take it back dirty. I'll just get clones, can't go too far wrong with non-moving non-electrical parts. I think I'll make a stand and screw the wall mount to it, I need to do something with all these ozbargained power tools!

      • +1

Seems like a lot of people lost with prime day. I bought an SSD only to have it be 20% cheaper a couple of days after I installed it 💩

  • +3

The Floor dok multi stand alone well worth extra $50~

      • +2

There is no compatible Gen5Detect Floor dok other than the one included in this Complete package at this stage. The one you're looking at won't work.

  • +1

Looks like the new gen5 outsize has come to Australia. Waiting for that to go on sale

    • +3

Unless you have some specific need for the Outsize, it doesn't seem worth it: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786749

      • -2

        obviously the bigger bin

        • +1

I have a V11, V11 Outsize and Gen 5. The outsize is by far the most awkward, least used of the products. 99% of users are better with a lighter vacuum that they use more often and empty once or twice than having a huge vacuum that they barely use. Try them instore before you make that call

  • Ordered. Thanks!

  • So $975.57 after cashrewards?

    • +1

Cashback is calculated on the amount excluding GST, so not quite.

  • +3

Incredible that this has come up just as I'm looking for one, and I'd checked the Dyson website multiple times for research over the last couple of days. Makes a nice change to missing out on recent deals for things I only realise I needed a week or two afterwards. Massive thanks.

$953.64 excl. GST * 7% cashback is $66.75. Then another $5 for the activated Cashrewards deal, so it should be $977.25 net. Plus free delivery, unlike TGG, bonus.

  • +5

Thanks OP, picked it up. Better than staff pricing

    • thats crazy!!

    • My pleasure. I did think it was a pretty sweet deal.

    • To be fair, Dyson staff pricing isn’t what it used to be 😆

      • Yeah…. But still, a good offer on a number of items.

  • Thanks OP!, I bought this last week at higher price, just messaged them and they refunded difference.

  • Do they sell it with the mop head

  • Nice, we picked this up in the weekend for about this price $980ish without the accessories.
Been very happy with it so far!
Not convinced we'd use the accessories at all (or that much) anyway, maybe the hose.

    • Give the extension hose a crack for dusting, and add the scratch free brush if you have piano black in the car. Otherwise the extra tools are nice to have but not hugely beneficial

      • Yeah, when we looked in store at some of the alternatives (LG etc), they seem to try complete with a load of (fancy) accessories, that I really just assume would sit in the bottom of a cupboard for the bulk of their life. I just wanted the best main unit really.

Pulling the bottom pole and foot off and having the little crevice duster instantly pop out (probably used all the wrong words there) is an amazing feature of this vac!

        • +1

The best feature is the laser floor tool, hands down. Absolute game changer, blew my mind the first time we used it.

          • +2

@Smol Cat: It's a tool of torture. Took me twice as long to vacuum because I could see all the tiny patches I missed and wouldn't normally care about.

            • @CJ31: Haha yes! It seriously plays so hard on my OCD. I legit have to get every single speck on the floor now coz I can see the entire bloody mess. Home is cleaner but my psyche is taking a hit! Maybe I shouldn't recommend this to others lest they suffer the same fate.

  • What is the difference between complete and absolute?

    • +4

Compete = absolute + floor stand + hose + small dusting brush + bendy crevice tool with sliding brush.

Good package IMHO. The stand alone is worth it. The hose is great for cars and using with the little dusting brush. The bendy crevice tool's benefits are very niche, you can do what it does with the normal tools+hose.

Seems the V15 is the better pick?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM6BxN1DZxA

    • +3

Please check any other comparison.. this guy is just plain wrong.

To clarify, I also saw this video before purchasing, but I say this having watched more videos, and now having had the Gen5 for over a month.

      • so it doesnt get stuck when pulling back

        • +1

stuck, no.. at least not on any of my carpets/rugs. Obviously with the way the spinning head is designed it doesn't turn as easily when you're dragging it in the opposite direction but it still works just fine.

  • -1

How is this compared to the one at Kmart ?

    • +2

Kmart is cheaper with less suction

Bang for buck Kmart is sensational, but it's like a Kia vs a Mercedes….

      • Is it worth 6x the quality (relative to price) ?

  • +1

I recently bought V15 Detect complete on Dyson Ebay Sale for $905, is this Gen5 Detect much better that V15 Detect ?
should I go through trouble of returning this and ordering this one ?

Gen5 is heavier, has 262 air watts of suction vs 230 air watts.

If you ever end up selling it, the Gen5 likely to have slightly higher resale.

Personally I would prefer the Gen5 and have just bought it.

      • Just for reference, the Gen5 and V15 have the same suction with the motorised heads attached. Only time you get the 262AW is with non motorised tools as the suction is too high for the motors to spin the floor heads at 262AW.

    • I wouldn't think so. The big difference is the v15 trigger vs gen5 on/off button. Gen5 had a tiny bit more power, v15 is about 1/2 kg lighter.

      • The Gen5's weight isn't apples to apples, the button reduces forearm tension from holding the trigger and the battery is shifted lower to reduce leverage on the wrist. Feels almost identical in weight for floor cleaning as V15

  • @AAN I am in the same situation, my V15 just got delivered yesterday, still unpacked. Wondering if worth replacing with this one.

  • Well mine is ordered.

It is replacing an ageing V8 Dyson.

I suspect I will notice the battery life difference and also the 262 air watts of suction vs the 115 air watts of the V8….

I am hoping my V8 tools fit the Gen5

    • They will, except for electrified ones (Motorheads, reach under adaptors, light pipe crevice tools etc) as there is a change to the electrical connector block.

    • just replace the battery and/or replace the 18650/21700 cells (not sure which ones are in the V8)..

  • Didn't pull the trigger on a previous deal because that one didn't include a floor dock.

This is one is $128 more but comes with everything, time to think again.

Currently using a V10 from 2019, vacuum is working well, but battery is playing up, already replaced with genuine battery. So may be there are other issues.

    • The trigger on V10 is a well known problem.

  • Dammit, 5% student beans discount doesn't work with this

    • Cashrewards 7% beats that anyway

      • +1

I'd rather immediate savings over cash back in 2 months. Sometimes it's stackable too

        • On Cashrewards with Dyson it isn't stackable. Agree immediate saving but net position after 2 months you are ahead with Cashrewards.

    • +1

If you're a student spending $1000 on a vacuum you might need to re-evalutate your spending choices.

  • What's special about these Dyson vacs that make them worth 1k? Seems a tad expensive for a vacuum?

    • Most importantly, a team of engineers have designed quality products. Nonetheless, you are also paying for the brand! Like a BMW or Mercedes…

    • As an owner of this one, I can say that it is a very well designed device. Everything from the unboxing to the look/feel of the unit was satisfying. The laser head for the floor is a complete game changer and I can now never ever go back to a head without the laser feature. Is it worth the money? It's hard to say, depends on the person. $1k can go a long way for many other things, but if you wanted a shiny new toy for the house, then yes, this sale price is good value for what it is.

    • Better than buying a diamond

  • Price is great! Hadn't seen this at this price!
I guess it's heavier than V15. Still not sure buy it or not

  • Great share OP. Bought one 👍

  • If buy now anyone reckon price will go down in 2 years for price protection insurance?

  • +4

    I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!!

    • destitute

  • You can't buy the accessories separately yet

    • Yes you can:

The Floor Dok for gen5detect ($149) is only available by calling Dyson directly.

The Scratch-free dusting brush - $49 and Awkward gap tool - $49 are available on the Dyson website.

      • Do you have link as when i spoke to them, only the v15 was available, which doesnt fit the gen5

        • The gen5detect floor dok SKU is 972214-01. Don’t have a link unfortunately.

  • The gen5detect floor dok SKU is 972214-01. Don’t have a link unfortunately.

  • Thanks op!

Bit the bullet and upgrading from the v6!

    Cashrewards is $66.75 fyi

    • Did you get Cashrewards showing up on My Rewards straight away?

      • +1

Yeah showed up straight away and got the email that it's been tracked too

        • I used the CashRewards app on my phone to give myself a better chance of it being tracked properly, yet it doesn't show up in my rewards pending tab it all. I can see that it registered I clicked through, but no purchase history.

Is this normal, and does that mean I have to keep an eye out to make a claim now?

          • @RichieRichAus: I bought via the cashrewards app on my phone (pixel).

I cleared my cart, and paid via credit card, I got the confirmation email from cashrewards 4 minutes after the Dyson email.

          • @RichieRichAus: Mine also not showing up but I used CR with browser, did you paid via paypal as well?

  • +1

Any thoughts on why Dyson is worth $950 when budget vacuums can be bought under $200.
    https://amzn.asia/d/d0BIy0r

  • Just purchased Dyson Gen5 Detect today 14 07 2023. Final price after 6% cash back is A$953.64

  • Noice, brought one not too long ago, was able to organise a partial refund to match this price. Took two minutes on the phone without any hassle.

  • Does anyone know if the cashback will work if I pay with afterpay or zip? Thanks in advance :)

    • Just learned how to google. Here is the article about it, and it works

  • +1

Looks like Cashrewards is down to 2.5% cashback for Dyson.

What are the chances it goes back up to 7% before this sale ends…?
