  • damn, I missed out on $6 savings haha. oh well, over all i did fairly well still, with all my components.

It does make me wonder why this board is being discounted so heavily

    • It’s the top of the range in MSI family for b650, you are fine.

  • No pickup available in VIC

    • the deal seems all right with the shipping fee added?

  • Any idea if the main PCI slot's speed halfs if some/all m.2s are populated?

    • Yeah, the main pcie slot drops to x8 if m.2 slots 2 and 3 are in use. You can use m.2 slot 1 and 4 without this happening.

      • Do all B650 motherboards have this issue? I'm planning on using all 4 m.2 slots

        • I'm not sure if there's easy source for that info outside of reading reviews of all the boards.
I'd guess most or all have similar limitations though. Many b650 don't even have 4 m.2 slots to begin with.
Note though, x16 vs x8 on the main pcie (GPU) slot is pretty negligible difference.

@sharky_k: I do have a 4090 so it is a little bit of a concern (GN's video indicates there can be a noticeable impact on 1% lows) Worst case scenario I have a PCIE to m.2 converter card which I can plug into the second PCIE slot using 3 m.2 at the same time without limiting the performance.

        • I'm not quite sure but do note that you're unlikely to notice much of a difference in performance between x16 and x8. Pcie 4.0 x8 is the same speed as pcie 3.0 x16 and benchmarks have shown that the GPU performance difference between 3.0 and 4.0 is very small.

Most b650 motherboards also seem to have 2 or 3 m.2 slots instead of 4 with this one being an exception.

Do you lose any real benefits not getting the E version or 670 boards?

  • I'm still usin amd4…
