Works out to Trend or Norton , 1 year 1 device for free *

Iirc Norton requires cc details to sign up.

Nah not targeted I think, but you do need to present the voucher meaning you need to go into the store meaning quite a lot of chances for unsuspecting / uninformed customers to be upsold/cross sold to more protection (eg 3-5 device subs, phone antivirus for android, surge protection, Belkin full rrp hdmi cables, laser brand usb etc)

Genius marketing play lmao - considering oem 3 user keys are like $10 if that at umart or msy

Here’s a great cyber security “product”, it’s free. Best to learn rather than blindly buying a product and hoping it’ll protect you.

It’s a scam I went into local Harvey normal store they wanted $115 for Norton two devices 1 year and trend was same price. Salesman dropped price to $50 but wouldn’t except the voucher

  • A while back at Harvey Normal South Street I overheard a salesman trying to sell a guy $700 worth of antivirus for his family….4 or 5 licenses for 1 year. I managed to have a quick chat with the customer without drawing attention to the salesman.

He got Bit defender for like $100 for 10 lic for 1 year.

I am sure they are scamming and ripping off thousands of unsuspecting customers who know no different…..

You go in store. They have none of the $50 ones in stock. Plenty of upselling options available. Trying to sell security trend router etc.

    Don’t waste your time.

I went in to prove to myself that what I expected to happen would happen and it did.

    • That’s not true, you need to ask a sales person and they make up a docket for you at the sales desk. When you get to the checkout the print out the licence code for you and there is no charge.

It’s not a physical card or anything, it’s just a voucher printed on a full receipt

      • They told me they had run out and the only option was to spend more on a multi device version, sadly this was true

        • That's strange, as they are just a printed licence code from the checkout. I got one myself on Saturday and the promo runs until the middle of August, so seems strange to run out. Perhaps the sales person you spoke with didn't understand how to process the sale. You could always try another salesperson or store.

          • @Megatron29: I will do that when I am near another store.

I personally think that this is an example of the sales person getting some weird kind of revenge when I was not interested in the cross selling.

It all just makes HN's reputation worse. I doubt they even care though.
