[NSW] Waterfix Half Price Callout Fee $33 (Was $66): Free Minor Repairs (Leaking Taps) & Shower Head Replacements @ Sydney Water

3270

Thought id post this as most people dont know about the service.

Had a plumber quote me $500 to fix my taps, so booked a waterfix and all was fixed for the callout fee or $33 (which is usually $66). Also got both my showerheads replaced with their premium range (similiar selling at bunnings for $50 a pop)

They also supply and replace single flush toilets for $200 which is a steal as a plumber chargers $300+ just for labor.

Please note that online booking system is broken. If you get the message you area ia not serviced, call 1800 807 475 to book

The $33 charge will appear on your water bill.

Also sorry to all you some plumbers out there who give unrealistic quotes. If you charged reasonable prices, we wouldnt have to use such services such as waterfix.

    • Yeh, really depends what you need done

    • shower head is $15 @ ALDI or was $8.07 @ Ikea

    • +3

Called to check what the shower head brand is and seems like they are Posh brand from Reece $100ish so worth it for $33 inc labour/part

      https://www.reece.com.au/product/posh-solus-mk3-handshower-w…

my plumber charged me $150 to install a Posh brand vanity tap - I thought expensive compared to Bunnings $70 or so, but I find the action very nice and smooth for low flow (cheap/nasty ones tend to be all or nothing and hard to adjust for low flow - so waste water) so I'm happy with

the linked hand shower looks like a nice design - screws straight onto threaded wall outlet with no other railings required (holes to drill) so probably a deal for $33 - and if you've never used a hand shower like standard in Japan or Europe, get one and you'll love it.

  • I have an old hot cold water shower tap, I want to replace with a mixed shower tap. How much cost could it be?
I understand it will involve breaking one/several pieces of tile, changing the shower tap inside the wall, and fixing by new tiles.

    • I'll guess a plumber will charge you around $3-500 for labour, plus the mixer you choose which I'd guess could be $100+ from Bunnings up to $1000 for a fancy top model from German Grohe

might connect to existing 2 hot and cold tap outlets $113 - https://www.amazon.com.au/GROHE-Start-23771000-Single-Lever-…

if you're interested in this type to save money on holes in the wall (guess $4-500) check the centre-to-centre distance between your existing taps/pipes, and also check if your shower is deep enough that you won't be bumping into this assembly sticking out from the wall

single lever cheaper $75 but needs the two pipe connection (guess $4-500) - https://www.bunnings.com.au/hansgrohe-chrome-vernis-blend-si…

  • any picture of the shower heads and toilet they supply?

  • I'll call Waterfix before I call a private plumber for all other issues. Waterfix won't fix larger issues but they'll give you a summary of the issues and what needs to be done.

I also find Bunnings a good alternative to smaller plumbers for replacement work. Eg. Hot water system.

For big jobs you still need to find a private plumber. When you find a good one, make sure you save their number. They are hard to find.

Is there a similar thing for qld?

  • I can vouch for this service, just recently got 2 cistern and 2 free handheld shower heads installed.
Easy to book, arrived on time and cleaned up their mess.
They charge via your quarterly water bill too.

    • Are the showerheads good quality?

      • Yep. Got 2 of them installed. $129 @ reece.
Got 3 mini taps (toilet) installed. $8 each at reece.
2 outdoor taps installed. $10 each at reece.
        6 tap washers replaced.
        Took him 1.5hrs
Got billed $33 on my waterbill.

Plumber was a nice bloke. He said they bill sydney water watever there expenses are and get paid in full.

        • did your outdoor taps have visible leaks? or can the plumbers just repair any outdoor tap even if it doesn't have any leaks

          • @yoswag123: Nope. Has to have a visible leak for replacement. Saw the online form they fill. Has a section that says (leaking- $0 promotion).
But i made him a coffee, gave him a soft drink. Offered himna sandwich.

So he might have just been nice to me.

  • What brand are the showerheads?

EDIT: Nvm saw Allan's comment above

  • +1

They forgot to charge me the waterfix fee on my waterbill lol

  • Anyone who going a toilet replaced, could you share any feedback?

  • Hourly labour is listed as $99, can anyone confirm whether this promo ignores the labour component and you only pay the callout (So, would be worthwhile to pay the callout to get nice new shower heads for free?)

  • Can anyone confirm re the toilet replacements, is the subsidised pricing ONLY if you are replacing toilets you have which must be single flush.
As in, if you have a dual flush toilet you want replaced, you don't get the magic money?
    Sydney water wording is odd.

    • I just called and booked in. I told them i have dual flush but it has obvious leaks so they didnt care and booked me in.

      • How did your visit go? I was told by the plumber on the call-out the discount only applied when replacing single flush toilets, as per the text. Replacing dual flush (leaks or not) would not be promo pricing.

We ended up cancelling! After some research we think ours can just be fixed for $300 tops. Waste of $400 just replacing it.

  • Made an appointment request online 8 days ago
    No reply or further updates
Called them today - they advised that can attend on 29th Sept (earliest appt)

While this is looking like a great service and amazing price, just be aware that if you need any urgent repairs, they will take at least 2.5-3 weeks and you will need to actively call/check with them

    • Yep and the quality of the plumbers vary. Most of them just want to do the minimum to collect their call out fee from SW and tell you to book another appointment. I ended up cancelling getting out toilet replaced by them, plumber was obviously trying to upsell

  • Thanks OP. Do they replace taps for free too? Or just fix the leak?

And can they also fix washer in kitchen?

  • +1

Come on SA Water, take note!

  • QLD when?

  • fml, my plumber charged 1k+ to replace the cheapo toilet plus shower head replacement. Fffffff

  • Will they fix a broken tempering valve?

  • Yeah my landlord recently changed all of our actually good shower heads into these shitty ones because it was free :/

I mean if you're using a shower head from 1970 it'll be an upgrade, but ours were only a couple of years old.

They did fix the toilet though, so points there. I'm not a plumber, but this deal wasn't the only thing long running.

    • Their shower heads is from Reece plumbing and come with 10 years warranty.

      • Don't care where it's from, a store simply sells products. It used to be a wider shower with multiple jet options and now it's the most basic spoon shower head. Don't care about the warranty because I didn't buy it nor will I be the one replacing it.

  • Has anyone tried the water leaks program? How did it go?

    Link: https://www.sydneywater.com.au/your-home/helping-you-save-wa…

  • I took a tremendously huge dump ( 3KG ) and clogged my toilet. Will waterfix unclog it and for how much?

  • For the premium handsfree shower head, how’s the water pressure? Is it quite firm?

    • +2

I've had it for the last 4 months or so and it's been great. I was worried about the drop in water pressure too but its been more than fine for me. Plus you have three different settings.

  • thanks OP.

  • Can someone tell me what might be the differences between the mid($660)/premium($700)/skew pan($1,100) toilets? I clearly don't know the lingo. Thank you

    https://www.sydneywater.com.au/your-home/helping-you-save-wa…

    • if your old toilet still works I would keep it - IME a lot of these 'water saving' 4.5 litre flush toilets don't flush properly which is pretty disgusting when you have to stand around waiting for the tank to refill after only some of the brown stuff went down

I calculated water savings from water saving toilets - and my figure was it might save me $6 a year. So I didn't get one. My 40+yo toilet flushes real good.

  • Do they have the Commando 450

  • +1

Use this service last year, highly recommend
Shower head fixed (brand new installed) by qualified plumber, for $33!

  • I got this done for a 240-unit strata complex - found a lot of tenant-don't-care-didn't-report running taps and toilets as they weren't charged for their water usage

also installed individual wireless water meters and changed to user-pays charging water usage to the tenants

if I recall, savings in the first year alone were about $80K

    • +1

How on earth did you manage to book it for the entire building, even if you were on the SC - did everyone have to contact Sydney water individually?

  • NSW, The Based State

  • Do they deal with water related issues only, or any issues a plumber deals with?

I've got a Gasmate Female Connection Bayonet Inlet Fitting on the floor for the gas heater…would a plumber from Sydney Water be willing to remove it?

  • Just an update this deal has changed. Just got a quote and they now charge $200++ to replace taps and fittings.
