It's so annoying that they made the Space Black Stainless exclusive to the Hermes edition since Series 6. It's finish is so much more scratch resistant than the Graphite one. I'll only be replacing my Series 4 Space Black with a Silver Stainless because at least scratches can be polished on the silver.

  • When is series 9 being released?

    • Most likely September

        9/09 for Series 9 ?

        • Hah, going by history it's usually on the first or second Tuesday or Wednesday in September, so probably not that date as it's a Saturday.

    too small for average wrists

Get the Ultra if you want something phat

Where did you get that stat from? What size wrist do you think average size is?

If anything the 45mm watches I see are too big and look silly on most people

Whose still holding out on an ages old 4th gen?

Maybe just maybe I will get one when there’s a model for half price off or my current one breaks ;)

I do upgrade my iPhone every two years to ‘keep up’ with the trend (that and I play spec intensive mobile games) but personally don’t see much incentive in upgrading the apple watch in between generations. Perhaps for folks who sometimes just carry the watch by itself the upgrade in specs will be more sought after?

The Series 4 and 5 more or less had the same CPU. The 6, 7 & 8 also had more or less the same CPU.

I went from a 5 to a 7, and it was definitely faster (especially around software updates), and also charged faster.

Will be interesting to see what the Series 9 has in that space, but in terms of 7 vs 8, you may as well get a 7 at this price if you don't need the handful of extra sensors in the 8.

      • Hmmm I see. So in the interest of best bang for your buck performance I should be aiming at a 3 generation upgrade everytime?

        • I am on my 4th gen which I bought on the first day it was launched in Aus. No complaint at all even the battery is fine. I will wait to see the 9th gen then probably buy a 8th gen if the 9th is not exciting (no new cpu, design, etc)

        • Yeah it's hard to predict the the Apple Watches… I bought my 7 as a refurb from Apple when the 8 came out because it was confirmed the CPU was no better, saved a good amount by doing that. There's mixed rumours about whether or not the series 9 will be a new CPU or the same from the 6/7/8 again.

    • Still using my series 3 :(

    • I went from a trusty Series 4 to a Series 7. The 7 is obviously better, but that 4 sure had staying power. I wouldn't worry about upgrading the 4 to a 7 in hindsight.

After using a silver stainless Series 5 for the past few years and seeing how well it's holding up scratch wise compared to my previous aluminium Apple watches, I don't think I could go back to anything other than stainless steel, now. I'm very impressed.

    • Am also still using a stainless S5 - other than the battery it works perfect as a fitness tracker, and I can polish it to look new if I want to.

  • Last one. Be quick.
Not a fan of daily charging. Got Garmin instead.

    • Gone, no stock

  • Looks great but too heavy and scratches much easier than aluminium.
