I got the 5kw one for $968 great unit and has 4 star energy rating

    • I got 7.1kw from the Good Guys for $1039 with 5% off gift card.
      It came down to $987.5
The installation was $650, and I negotiated it down to $600 :)

      • Bargain so good so far, nice and quiet ran it at 24deg on low last summer most of the time ! power bill was less than $300 after pay early discount etc

  • Anyone know if bing lee do installation too like TGG?

A FYI for those not having too much Aircon Install experience.

The real issue is that you have to pay for installation. This can be around $500-600 for a back to back install. (yes it can be cheaper and can be more).

With that overhead, if the system isnt as reliable as those with a track record like Mitsubishi HI, Fujitsu, Daikin or Panasonic brands then if it needs replacing earlier you have to pay the install price again.

Some real cheap brands in the past lasted only 5 years, which meant repaying for another install a lot more often than one of the better brands. So not so cheap in the long run.

Not like other appliances that dont have an install/reinstall cost.

Whats the answer? - Guess we'll have to wait for a few more years to find out, if its a bargain or a bomb.

      This is 100% true,

But those brands are now around 1800-2000 mark for 7kw.

      So make your own decision.

I personally went with this one as the comments from previous hisense deal is not too bad.

I have the previous model 7kw and it's been flawless for nearly 3 years now, the power bills dropped around $100 a month over winter compared to using an element heater. I wouldn't be to concerned with the quality, everything I've seen in and with the unit looks to be made to a very good standard, very comparable to the 'big brands'.

I got it for a similar price to this one from this deal.

I bought 7, 3.5 & 2.5kW units for the house from that sale. Work as well as a "premium" brand 3yrs later. I've since moved interstate with work and this rental has a Fujitsu unit downstairs. The Fujitsu is not better than those HiSense units. At night I hear the compressor buzzing away outside struggling to run in an ACT winter.
The 'internal water leak' reports below would indicate either a blocked drain hose, or a poor install.

Got a few split system installs coming up for a new place and had been dreading the cost with inflation, but surprised to see AC prices haven't changed a lot compared to a decade ago when I last had some put in, and I think $500-600 was pretty much the going rate for installation back then too.

For AC I only trust Japanese brand,

Good to know thanks mate 👏

Lots of reports of internal water leaks after about 2-3 months operation :/

Having gone through all that previously, will now stick with trusted brands …

water leak?! You mean from condensation? Probably drain hose not installed properly. Otherwise, plastic cracked.

      • Poorly designed head unit apparently :/

I have 2x HAWV12KR 3.5kw I had fitted 10 months ago. No issues so far, I can control them off my phone whilst inside the house wifi network. You can turn off the beep or led display on the unit so you can have it on while you sleep.

Heats and cools very well, very efficient. I think the difference between these and the Japanese units is accuracy of the temperature sensor? The installer said the Japanese brands are a bit better at regulating temperature or turning off once they get to the right temperature.

  • Hrmmmm I've been saying do it once and get a Fujitsu but this is very tempting all the same!

I got the same one about a year ago and paid $1100. We used it all year around and no issue so far. Works perfectly

  • Looks like a decent buy. I bought a Kogan branded one 2 years ago and it hasn’t missed a beat. My install was free as my mate owns his aircon business.

Maybe a decent alternative - not really sure what they’re priced at the moment but I got it on some sale was about 900

  • Don’t forget $20 off first order through subscription

  • Looks to have gone back to 1599
