To get the deal add an address to a country with no tax, for example India (thank you to @abs898) . Just found code that brings down to to $18.7 US dollars. Code for me works on both laptop and mobile (Chrome)

I just downloaded the esim and plans look pretty good value (but better at half price).

Some examples:

Western Europe (Italy/France/Spain/Portugal

10gb/30days/$25

Fiji:

1gb/7 days/7.50
3gb/30 days/$19.50

Indonesia
3gb/30 days/$11.00

Usa
10gb/30 days/ $ 26

Credit lasts 1 year after you add it according to what has been reported on here. I also bought and added and now I have $50 us in my account. It says can only be applied to 1 device, however I’m imagining if you login on a different device you can download a different esim (that’s what I plan to do for my trips to USA and Bali). 170 countries to choose from.

If you are travelling to Europe or USA there are a couple of plans on here for free (Orange Poland for Europe). For the USA I can’t remember but I think it’s one of the big ones. Just search ozbargain for the USA and Europe deal.

List of countries:

Important Details

Length of access: lifetime
Instant digital redemption
Purchased coupon must be redeemed and used within 12 months
This deal is not stackable (one offer per aloSIM account)
You can purchase up to two, but your additional deal must be gifted to another person. Again, this deal is not stackable.
A $4.50 data package will last 7 days
The data DOES expire, and you WILL NOT have any leftover data for your next trip unless it takes place within the validity period. While the eSIM never expires, the actual data package is only valid for the length of time stated at purchase (i.e. seven days after activation, 30 days after activation, etc.) So if you buy a seven-day package and only use a tiny bit, that package is still going to expire after seven days.
Access options: desktop or mobile (check compatibility)
Max number of device(s): 1
Updates included

If you change the country to one of the non taxable you can get it for US$21.99.

    Just changed and bought it

    • +1

Thanks, I’ll add to description. Which country, USA?

      • +1

        I changed randomly to India

        • Thanks

    • +2

Use my Aussie address and just changed the country and random started with random post code. Paid using aU amex and it worked.

    • Weird. My aussie address shows $21.99?

Stacksocial comes though with the most obscure stuff

  • Japan?

  • Is this good value compared to other ones like Airalo?

    • Sin prices are pretty identical.

But with alo 50% discount on cash upfront makes it better

  • I just ordered, downloaded Alosim app, redeemed code, input voucher code, Credits Expire 1 year.

    • So not lifetime? Contact stacksocial then and ask to return (then add when you need it)

      • It doesn't say on their website that credit is life time. Says esim is. So my assumption is if you buy an eaim that will last a lifetime and can be recharged

        • I just added my code and just says alocash $50. I think it does last 1 year.

          • @fozzie: It says 1 year expiry when you go in. But if you buy an eaim that doesn't have an expiry.

      • they confuse by the lifetime claim which is purely for the esim, but don't make it clear when buying the credit that it onmly lasts for a year.

        • I agree, terms and conditions are not ideal/clear. I would say stick to 1 year to use the alocash and only add esim when needed.

      • Credit expiry: 1 year
        eSIM expiry: Lifetime
Plan expiry: subject to plan purchased (7 - 30 days)

  • How do I purchase this if my JP trip won’t be until November?

    • I bought for my trip in April. Buy now add to your account. Activate it when you need it.

      • is installing the esim different from activating it? I just dont want to accidentally activate it.

        • +1

yes. I would just swap for the esim before you are going.
          Have a read here https://alosim.com/how-to-activate-esim-on-your-iphone/

          • @fozzie: The Stacksocial listing says "Purchased coupon must be redeemed and used within 12 months". If my trip isn't until next June, does that mean I can redeem the code in 6/2024 to load it onto the account, activate a SIM then, and any leftover credit's good for another year after that?

            • @clx: No sure. I would assume it’s 1 year from when you buy from stacksocial (and add to account) Also if you swap for esim it might activate straight away on iPhone/IPad. I think on android you can activate later on.

This eSIM is free and 1.5gb for two years and global @ eskimo.travel
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777710

    • I got this too. But if you are gone for longer, eskimo is much more expensive

  • Bought it to try out, hopefully I'm not let down without data overseas…

  • Getting data in the USA is not fun, especially depending on your phone model

  • rweockj

Is this discount code still valid? App isn't accepting it. Thanks.

    • I used coupert. Let me look

    • +1

Hi it works on my laptop (chrome) and mobile. Not via app. Are you going to stacksocial website?

      • Thanks. It works via stacksocial website.

    • Just worked today

  • Portland, Oregon does not have tax FYI

  • Can you stack multiple credits?

    • I don’t know. I am assuming you can as it’s normal credit (but unable to check).

      • +1

Terms and conditions say not stackable.

  • Might be handy to add and use referral system above if you're not a member yet.

Reported to mods regarding store's referral system:
I'm getting "Error: Verification error - wrong format" when adding even if it's the correct format. (copy pasted and typed full URL)

    • Yea that is a good point. Thanks for reporting.

  • I am guessing you cannot activate Esims for 2 different countries even if you stay within your $50 credit limit ?

    • My understanding is that you can (and I am planning to).

  • Are these eSIMs easily transferable when you upgrade phones? Or can these telcos put additional restrictions on them?

    • I would not recommend transferring them. You might loose it. Just add to your phone when you need it.

      • +1

Yeah, their customer support just confirmed the eSIM says with the device. That's different to practically regular telco eSIMs. I think it's a bit disingenuous for them to advertise it as a lifetime eSIM if it has to be on the one device. Unless they mean each data plan is a different eSIM, which is totally fine, but I think the eSIM stays the same but the data plan gets loaded onto the eSIM.

  • OP says: "It says can only be applied to 1 device, however I’m imagining if you login on a different device you can download a different esim".

Can anyone confirm this is possible? The thing is, what I really need are two $22 esims (for a 30-day plan) for one country to be used on my phone and my wife's phone at the same time and the same trip.

It will be frustrating if I only get to use $22 of the $50 credit, as I am not really planning any more international travel in the next year after this trip.

    Thanks

    • Nope. Customer support has confirmed it's stuck on 1 device and is non transferable.

      • I don’t think that is correct. I just downloaded the app also on iPad with the same details (and I could buy one sim in either iPad/iPhone).

They probably mean esim. (And that is true you cannot transfer the esim).
Unfortunately I cannot test now as I would just waste a plan (iPhone /iPad may activate plan automatically even if not overseas yet).
Maybe someone is going on a trip soon and can report back?

        • The crux of the matter is whether the $50 credit can be used to buy multiple eSIMs.

Like, can you install the app, buy an eSIM and activate it, then log out of the app, install the app on a second phone and buy and install a second eSIM with the leftover credit, and have two eSIMs active in the same country simultaneously that were purchased using the same account but installed on different phones..

I understand that once installed, eSIMs cannot be transferred between phones, but can you buy multiple eSIMs with that credit?

For me, that's the $28 question (after I've spent the first $22 on the first eSIM).

        • +1

After taking a good look again, there appears to be no obstacle whatsoever with using the credit in one single account to buy multiple eSIMs for multiple devices for the same country, to use at the same time.

As the OP says, the way to do that would be to load the app on the other device and buy another sim and install it, using your remaining credit.

The only thing the eSIM company stresses over and over is that once an eSIM is installed on a device, there is no way to transfer it to another device, meaning if you lose your phone, your eSIM is gone with it. Fair enough.

          • @coolrunnings: Thanks coolrunnings! Good news indeed. Saving a few bucks as I have a trip to Italy and Lax in Dec/Jan. Bali in Easter. It’s good to have a back up in case I don’t manage to install the Orange for Europe and the free esim to USA. If I’ll spend credit for the first trips I’ll get more credit later on for Bali :) I’ll install on 3 different devices (me, child, husband).

    • It's going to be cheaper and less time consuming so I'd just suck it up

    • Bought two separate vouchers and applied to two different phones with two different accounts. Like in your scenario.

  • Can someone tell me what the benefit to this is vs just buying an esim from travelkon? Like all i can see here is giving your data away which they will sell when you download the app lol.

    • Travelkon seems very expensive. This at half price is much cheaper. Also what do you mean they sell your data?

      • Ic, the travelkon seemed cheap given i dont need an app tracking me, re sell data how do you think they have cheaper prices good will??

        • You are paranoid. It does seem like travelkon have discounts at the moment. Indonesia looks a bit better value if you need larger data.

          • @fozzie: 🤣🤣 paranoid = someone that works in database marketing vs someone that clearly doesnt 😉

    • What data are you giving away?

They only got my name and email. Nothing else.

      • -1

I dont have the time to teach you the many ways you can get data, looks at the very general categories of data they state on the app and also go to their site to see the many trackers they have. As another example who would have thought coca cola amatil that sells drinks makes 15-20% of their revenue from selling data, all they do is sell drinks right?!?

        • The app only tracks purchases and potentially could link to an ID.

Website… I minimise the tracking via incognito browsing and ad blockers.

So whatever they get would be minimal and potentially unable to be used to track due to non existent tracking cookies or images.

Only issue I have is that they could potentially track with the browser fingerprint.

However this could be moot if they have some secret sauce tracking regime.

  • Just bought it. Can I just delay claiming and adding the credit to my alo anpp until before my trip on November. It should still be $50 US voucher sitting on my Stacksocial account right?

    • “ Purchased coupon must be redeemed and used within 12 months”.

According to this should be ok, but maybe chat to stacksocial to be safe.

      • +1

My stack social says digital purchases need to be activated in 30 days

  • Price increased already? Even with Indian address it's $21.25 now

  • @OP

If the price has increased significantly (In this case it's gone up by more than 12%) you must expire the deal, increasing the prices displayed in the title misrepresents the deal votes. The votes are for the product at a lower price.

Repost the deal if you have to, with the higher price. Thanks and regards
