I got a 55 inch from the same series a couple of months ago, and there were a couple of white spots when displaying dark/black pictures, even more visible when the room is dark.

Samsung came to replace the screen, it got better but there were still some bright spots.

Contacted Samsung for a refund and they refused citing this is not an issue as it does not impact normal viewing.l in normal settings.

Google this issue and you can find it’s very common with the entry models from Samsung.

I still have a few Samsung TVs of different models and am happy with them but I will stay away from this model because how difficult it is to deal with their customer service.

    • +6

It's ghosting on an LED pannel which is pretty standard across the Samsung range.

      • +4

Yeah. I had the problem with 85" Q70A. Samsung replaced the screen twice and was still a problem. They ended up replacing with a Q70B, which also has the problem but to a lesser extent. In all cases it's only noticeable in a dark room, it's in an area of the screen that's meant to be dark and you know it's there. Otherwise 99% of time excellent picture and great TV.

The bigger issue is that Samsung's customer service is absolutely woeful. Having to deal with them makes me wonder why I buy Samsung products. Fortunately, this has been the only time I've had to deal with their customer service but the saga dragged on for 9 months!!!

        • Good on you to stick to your guns and hold them responsible.

    • +4

Many companies consider several bright or dark pixels to be no warranty. Sadly Samsung's quality is not what it was plus they give AU shit panels on their 'top of the range' TVs and give the US the best panels yet model numbers stay the same even though the AU Samsung is clearly inferior - be careful of US reviews of Samsung. Personally I won't touch Samsung after my last 2 Samsung TV died earlier than you'd expect. I don't consider them to be a "name brand" that's any better than the other cheapies.

  • The $50 code doesn’t work. Does it work for anyone else ?

    • Needs to be the same email address you're logged in with. But maybe doesn't work on clearance items?

      • Yea it’s the same email but it doesn’t work

        • +1

Fair enough. I've put a note to say it might not work.

@stratbargain: Chat with Samsung has confirmed that $50 voucher no longer valid for edu sales.

            • @Ozitravel: Funny chat said to me thirty minutes before I posted the $50 voucher was the only discount I could use on edu. :). But clearly not working. They seem to make it up as they go.

              • @stratbargain: this has been the case for quite a while now for the edu portal. 50$ stopped working since dec 2022 - jan 2023 around the time they fixed the issue with the codes not being sent out.

  • wow what a price!

    • +4

      AND free white spots! Bargain!

  • This will be good for the local homeless shelter 👍

    • The homeless in Australia get to use 85" TV

  • +2

85" in Gov Portal is OOS

    • Every size is now out of stock in the government portal.

EDIT: However other TVs are also discounted and some are available.

  • Can anyone send a screen shot of the page please?

  • Wont let me add the 85 to the cart. 75 adds fine but not the 85

  • oos

  • Dang, how bad is the 85”

I’ve got an old NU8000 65” that is hitting the 5 year mark… I’m expecting it to die, hopefully not.

  • 85 inch gone

Also, is on sale (edu store) is:

    HW-Q930B Q-Series Soundbar (2022) BlackHW-Q930B/XY
    $599.00 - Save $900.00 (Was $1,499.00)

    Is this a good deal?

    ($50 voucher didn't work)

    • This looks like its gone as well? Seeing $1499 as the price now.

      • That's weird - I logged in after you and was able to purchase one

        • I can see this at $599 on the Aus Govt store but not the Edu store. Very weird

      • I was able to place the order on edu

    • +1

      Just snagged one

      • Nice. I was waiting for someone to confirm whether this was a good deal or not.

But since people are actually buying this, I assume its a good deal. So I purchased one for myself too.

Finally upgrading from my old HW-M450 2.1ch + SWA-8500S surround setup.

        • Living up to your name

      • Samsung rang me and cancelled my order as I they didn't have enough stock to fulfil. Did you get yours? At least I'm getting a $100 VISA gift card for my trouble.

  • Can you just create a govt/edu account? Sorry dont know how this works

    • +5

You have to have an .edu or .gov email account to register an account.

    • +1

hit up a mate who has en email with gov/edu in it. You just get them verify on their email but your actual account user name will be your own personal email.

      • How does this work? Do you create an account with their email or yours?

        • You create an account then to verify the education mode they send an email to your chosen .edu/.gov account
          Same for Unidays.

          • +1

@donman92: Thanks, I ended up having to get the gov employee to sign in using my email/password after clicking the confirmation link then it worked

  • Is this as good as the TCL mini LED's?

  • +1

    • +1

      Eg 75 QN90B Neo was $4,999 now $1,679

      • Shows in stock, but can't actually add to cart. Unfortunately, as I would have bought it!

  • Every size is now out of stock in the government portal.

  • The A650 sound bar for $159 is a great deal

  • Is Samsung fix the TV issue of auto switch-on? No chance for me to buy a Samsung TV next time.

  • How do we get to the gov.au site for purchase? The links only seem to be for an edu account.

  • Was there no stock? Logged in as soon as posted, showed no stock available.

    • There was definitely e stock when posted. Looks like it sold out very quickly once posted here though

  • Always miss good deals

Since when is $2k RRP for a 75” considered a “budget” TV?

$800 should be the standard price for these. Not a deal.

  • What a price , was looking at 70” from Aldi for $800, this would definitely be a better buy .
