  • so how much per month ?

  • +2

Remember to use ultimate gift cards when paying at Officeworks (ultimate everyone, home etc.)

If you have some from the recent 15% bonus deal at Coles, otherwise there are other deals available now.

    • +1

Have you confirmed that Ultimate gift cards can actually be used to pay for SIM cards at Officeworks?

Officeworks handles the activation of SIM cards similar to a third-party gift card, and Officeworks has been patching their instore POS systems over the last month or so to block customers from using Ultimate gift cards to pay for gift cards (e.g. Coles Group & Myer gift cards, Apple gift cards). There is a chance that Officeworks has included SIM cards alongside gift cards in these changes, so it is something to be mindful of.

      • +1

No I haven't for sim cards, thanks for the heads up!

  • +1

Thanks, just did the 90 day catch $21 offer so need something ready to go to in 90 days will go pick one of these up now as the deals seem to be slowing

  • Does this have international calling?

    • No but you can add an international pack for extra $5pm you'll have to check if the countries you want to call are included though Philippines for instance isn't included but most of the main ones are.

  • I feel blind, where do you input the referral code? when you activate the sim or create the account?
Would this sim work ok for 4g mobile broadband only usage?

    • +5

The feeling of blindness is temporary. People say it is caused by spending too much time in the bathroom. You will be fine!

    • You'll be asked if you have a referral code during sign up at the payment method screen 👍.

  • This looks like postpaid service

    • When you activate a sim, you can choose to pay month to month or pay as you go (prepaid).

      • Really? I haven't been with them for a while but I thought you gave your credit card details & unless you port out or cancel you'll keep getting charged every month on the same activation date.

    • +1

It is essentially postpaid but you pay in advance similar to how Telstra does their plans now. You can't go into debit though so it's more similar to prepaid.
When you port out you'll need to indicate postpaid and provide an account number rather than just dob & phone number you give for prepaid.

      • When you port out you'll need to indicate postpaid and provide an account number

It used to be like this, but now I just need the phone number and DOB to port out. I know they may charge me if I don't port out or cancel it, but I never give them a chance.

        • I have done a number of ports out of Belong, most recently 2 weeks ago (to Kogan). I have always indicated post-paid for Existing account type, and have always been required to enter the Existing provider's account number.

Are you saying that porting out of Belong still works if you indicate that Existing account type is pre-paid?

          • @Chris T: Yes, did you choose pay as you go when you activated your sim?

            • @jimojr: Do you mean when I activated the new SIM from another provider to port to from Belong? No, I have always indicated post-paid because that's what I understand Belong accounts to be: "post-paid, paid monthly in advance".

              • @Chris T: I mean if you choose pay as you go when activating Belong sim, then when you port out to other service provider, you can choose prepaid, no account number required, just the date of birth.

  • +4

24 dollar for 3 month basically, works out to be $8 per month.

not as decent as lebara $6 deal last week from woolies, but this works for 3 month straight without needing to jump each month.

(I already miss Boost cashback deal now)

    • but this works for 3 month straight without needing to jump each month.

Exactly, plus data slows to 1Mbps if you use all your monthly allowance. So it's basically an unlimited (slow) data plan.

      • +1

& it's the Telstra network which for me is the main benefit (I get good enough data speeds at home to stream hd so ditched wifi & just use hotspot)
Don't forget if you use all your data and 1Mbps isn't enough there's always someone selling data very cheap here in the classifieds. $5 for 100gb isn't unusual.

    • Lebara is $6 at participating Coles stores this week.

Amaysim had cashback with their online deals but their website is frustratingly unreliable.

Have resorted to the $30 starter kits from Officeworks for $10 before.

  • +1

    RIP boost cashback.

    • True, have not seen one recently. Maybe Boost are still recuperating from the $2 Zip deal

  • Does anyone know if you drop down plans if you keep your existing data?

    I got like 2tb haha

    • Wow that's a lot, yes data stays if you change plans.

    • I think you do. It did when signed up a few years ago. Started on the bigger plan for the extra data then dropped to the cheapest. Still haven't used that data.

  • How do I add the $2 for the 3rd month if I I activate on the $29 plan then drop down to the $19 plan for the other 2 months as OP suggests? Will they just deduct $2 from my payment method on the 3rd month? Or is there a top up option in my account page?

    • +1

Yes they'll deduct from your payment method. When I joined the first time a couple years ago I tried through customer support to add credit (was similar to what you are asking $2-3 from memory) but you couldn't unless it was a preset amount which was a minimum of $20 at the time. I'm not even sure if you can buy recharge credit for belong anymore? Can anyone answer that

      • Thanks for that!

    • +1

You need to provide/setup a payment method, Paypal or debit/credit card while activating SIM.
Once all your account credit is exhausted, it will deduct the remaining balance from your payment method.

      • Thanks for that!

  • My boost 12 month is coming to an end and I'm also travelling overseas in the next month or so. Planning on taking advantage of this deal and the referral code to purchase their $30 international roaming pack. Good deal

  • Does anyone know if Belong supports the + character in their email sign ups? E.g. tof+[email protected]

I ask because a while ago I tried signing up to another site and I kept getting invalid email.

    • Just put random full stops in

      • Yeah can definitely do that but was just looking for an easier system to manage/remember logins. Looking to become a long-time sim slut.

  • Any idea how to add my referral code to the pool?
    Been with belong since January.

    • My Account > Settings > Edit > Referrals

  • So you can buy this in store at woolworths? Can't tell from the website… need some stop gap internet while changing providers.

    • +1

Yes it's available in store at Woolworths. I just bought one tonight.

  • How does the 100gb data work? Is it on $45 plan? Can these all data to be transferred to existing belong number?

    • Yes and Yes!

  • Used to be with Belong for ages but they kept increasing their minimum monthly spend (from $10 to $19). Switched to Woolworths Mobile $170 annual deal.

    • The $10 plan was great once you've built up a good amount of data. I sim slut around now, so this is still a good deal for 3 months as mentioned in the description - $8.00 per month with 35GB & data slows to 1Mbps if you use it all up.

Plus if you manage to get another referral or 2 then it's really good deal.

  • hi I just bought this sim from Woolworths, but still doesn't get it…
    can you pls explain more?
just called Belong, and staff said I have to use 100gb in a month

    • Appears that you're buying $45 credit, so activate it under the $29 plan then you have $16 credit remaining for the following months.

  • Cheers mate.
Didn't know Belong had decent value after their many changes.

  • +1

Can this starter pack be used to activate a data-only SIM? (Eg. 100GB). I haven't found any info so far that confirms or denies it.

    • I'm also interested in activating the $15 data plan. Did anyone manage to activate it with this offer? I'm guessing this is just $45 credit that you can use to activate any plan.

      • So I got the card and yes you can activate the $15 data plan just fine. The car has $45 credit, which means it will last 3 months.
The downside is that you can't use referral code - so no $20 credit :(

        At the end i'm paying $7.33 a month for 20GB of data…

  • So I'll be buying it at officeworks, now do you know how long would it generally take to port my number from amaysim to belong?

Like I wanted to know how many days before the end of my current plan should I activate it/ request port? Thanks

    • +1

It should go through the same day, generally only takes 10-15 minutes or so. Try and do it during these days/times:

Porting hours are: Monday-Friday: 08:00-20:00; Saturday: 10:00-18:00; Sunday: Closed.

  • Is anyone else having trouble activating sims on Belong this morning?

When going to https://www.belong.com.au/new/activate/mobile/:orderId it just won't load anything. Have tried multiple browsers, devices, ip addresses.

    • Activated about 3 hours ago with no issues.

      • Thanks. It looks like there might be an issue since then, I have been trying for the last hour or so. Live chat is offline due to 'technical issues' and this is displayed on the website:

Heads up: My Account is currently offline so neither customers nor our contact centre/live chat can make account changes. We're sorry about this and we're working on it.

        • Yep, see the same message now upon logging in to my account.

  • Do you know if Belong's Data Plan will work for a mobile plan?
I'm guessing it's just $35 towards anything similar to this comment?

  • Can't seem to find the option to activate on the $29 plan.

As in, it automatically chose to use the $45 'credit' on the $45 plan

    • +2

I was able to do it just two days ago, it defaults to the 45 plan, but I was able to go back to the 'plan' option and select another one.

  • Just making sure I've got this right.
    Purchase a $45 starter sim

    $45 + $20 referral = $65 credit
    Activate on $29 plan

    Month 1 - 25gb data
    $65 - $29 = $36 credit

    Month 2 - 5gb data + any rollover is
    $36 - $19 = $17 credit

    Month 3 - 5gb + any rollover is
    $17 - $19 = $2 to be debited

  • Looks correct
