You can buy the official Tesla type 2 charger for $310, what makes your product better?

    • Hi, if you mean the official Tesla UMC then this charges your Tesla twice as fast as the official Tesla UMC only include tail up to 15A.

    • Where are they $310? I can only see the wall charger or UMC for $550-750

Shop / Charging / On the road.

        You're looking at 'At Home'.

          That's the one i'm referencing

          • +1

@peternow: Ah - this is a 7.5m Type 2 cable. You still need to plug it into a charger.

The OP is selling a charger with a tethered cable - they're much more expensive.

        • +5

This is an entirely different product. You've linked to a type 2 to type 2. This is 32A to type 2.

If you already have a UMC, getting the UMC 32A tail for about $120 is the better option. However, not everyone has a UMC.

  • I can't see any certifications / safety info posted. Chances are this has CE/TUV (not sufficient for Australia) and almost definitely doesn't have the RCM tick (required for AU). Given it's a 32A electrical device, if there is a major problem (unlikely) you might have problems getting insurance to cover damage.

In one of the groups I watch, someone just had their 32A charger fail. First failure I've seen posted and it was minor (one of the pins melted/detached so no house on fire but charger can't be used now).

But if you're spending this much and plugging in / not watching it, I'd be careful.

Getting the Tesla UMC (has RCM) with 10A, 15A, and 32A tails is much more expensive ($800ish) but much more flexible and "safe" (from an insurance point of view)

Hi, yes this has been tested for Australian market and yes it has RCM mark. Check out customers feedbacks on our Amazon store to know more.

      • Great - thanks! So little equipment advertised online seems to have the RCM mark advertised.

If possible, could RCM info be added to the listings? I nearly bought some equipment on your site, but RCM wasn't mentioned so I bought elsewhere.

        • +2

Thanks we will update our photos and listing with RCM mark clearly shown and included. Cheers

      • Do you have the RCM certificate? Can you post it on your website?

Lots of dodgy sellers have the RCM tick as it's easy to print. The cert would certainly help the cause to sell your product.

  • This is only 5 meters too…

  • is this only to be used at charging stations? how can this be used at home without AC outlet?

    • This isn't for charging stations (they only need a basic cable, this is a charger).

This requires a 32A 5 pin outlet. You'll either need to find that outlet (you see randomly in places but rare and almost never intended for EVs to use) or install a 32A outlet at home.

Excuse my ignorance, isn't 3 pin for single phase and five pin 3 phase.??

    • Came here to ask the same thing…

    • +1

Hi, 5 Pin plug can also be wired as single phase with L1, Neutral and Earth pins. As like 10A pin can fit into 15A plug but not the other way around. This configuration of 5 pin wired as single phase allow customer more freedom to plug into a 5 pin 3 phase outlet (camp ground, caravan park..etc) as well as single phase 5 pin outlet and the charger still work. With majority of home that have only single phase, sparky can install a 5 pin single phase outlet and customers can utilise this both at home and when travel. Similar wiring with the 32A 5Pin Adapter for Tesla UMC as Tesla UMC can only do single phase.

Kind of meaningless to have a 3 phase plug on a single phase cable. 3 phase cable can do everything a single phase cable can do, while single phase cable with 3 phase plug doesn't do the other way around.

Yeah most EVs out there are doing single phase 7.5kW charging only, but still, why? It's not like there's a significant cost increase with this price tag.

        • Hi, yes you are exactly right in terms of functionality. However, when it comes to optimising cost, weight, the supply chain and the customer needs, the lighter chargers produced in large quantity result in cost saving that is passed on to customers. Allows businesses to do discount deal from time to time and still be in business to serve more people.

  • Sorry mate, don't agree with your comment. My tesla UMC does do 11kw with my 5 pin 3 phase tail. Unless I'm interpretating your commet wrong.

    • +1

I think the gen 1 UMC can do 11 kW but gen 2 does up to 7 kW

  • i use one of these.. works great.

  • is there an adapter from 5-Pin to standard home socket?
Use case I'm thinking about: Holidaying out of town, staying in a rental home/AirBNB, which doesn't have a 5 pin socket, and I want to charge overnight using standard home socket.
Any advice on this use case?

    • +1

You won't find an adaptor that will let a 5-pin plug go into a standard power outlet. That would allow people to draw 32A from something only rated for 10A.

My suggestion would be to buy a Tesla UMC (I'm assuming they are compatible with all type 2 cars, but you should check). It's $550 and will include different input cables; a 10A and a 15A (possibly capped at 8A and 12A unless you use a Tesla to update the firmware of the UMC), and you can then buy the 32A input cable I linked to above for $150.

Then you're essentially getting the one posted in this deal, plus this and this in one.

Well I will go to the next bargain, doesn’t fit my landcruiser….

    Hello,

    Is there a three-phase option available? I.e. 22Kw?

    • Are there any cars that support 22kw AC charging? Last one I know is old model S
