My PC definitely can't push 7.3 million pixels at 120 FPS.

    • Yeah. Your talking 4090 or nothing to push this monitor to 120hz on a 2023 AAA

  • +2

What PC spec do we need to run this monitor at this resolution in 120fps?

    • -2

I believe any modern GPU should support this resolution@refresh rate.

    • Totally depends on the game and other settings.
      I recon a 4070 gpu and a 58003dx cpu should be decent for most modern games @ 60fps. However, 120fps + high fidelity = Get a 4090 $$$$ .

Its nearly 4k pixel count . Which is extremely taxing for less than a 40series GPU. Also alot of games don't support this resolution because most big budget PC releases are optimised for console.

If you are playing Wolfenstein 3d however . You may only need a Pentium 133

I like the extra poets the AOC.

Can anyone recommend which one they think is better

    • +4

I'm partial to Robert Frost myself.

    • Bought the AOC around 6-months ago over this.

      Reasons:
      - it was cheaper
      - it has a USB C connector for work laptop (which also charged) - so I have that for work laptop, DP for gaming set up.

      • Hi @b0omp3z
Was wondering if you can do me a huge favour please.
I cant find one on display and trying to find out what the measurements are from the end of the stand to the front (middle) of the screen.

Hey @Intake looks like 210ish from the back of the stand to the front of the screen. Measuring tape was a little off the middle. Eg. Left side of the foot to slightly left of the middle of the screen.

          • @b0omp3z: You are the best! Thank you.
How do you find the screen? Any big issues?
I'll be using PBP 2x27" for work a lot - connecting my work machine. Then when finishing work, I will use my gaming PC to display full screen.

Its the AOC vs the Samsing 49" right now.

            • @Skullytor: @Intake I previously had 2x monitors, one portrait and one landscape. Haven't used PBP, I've always just switched between, so all I can really help out with is 49" wide screen vs 2x screens overall, which I feel like you're already sold on, but I'll post my thoughts anyway.

              Overall:
              - Not having to switch out HDMI/DP/mouse/keyboard ports when I want to game vs work is amazing, the AOC has a remote and you can just flick between.
              - The AOC eats into your keyboard/mouse area (can be solved by a monitor arm/Or a thicker (taller?) desk - but the arms are like $400 bucks and I can't justify the spend atm).
              - Cable management so easy too.

              As a work monitor:
              Pros:
              - Excel sheets are a breeze - horizontal space is amazing.
              - High recommend fancy zones (needed to get IT to approve the installation, but allows you to snap in 25/50/25 rather than 50/50.
              Cons:
              - If you're using it as your only monitor you can't share your full screen anymore, you have to share windows or else it'll be tiny for everyone else.

              Gaming:
              Pros:
              - Refresh rate is crisp, I'm an FPS player and it's so smooth.
              - I haven't noticed any lag using the inbuilt KVM for inputs.
              Cons:
              - Almost all the games I play don't support the full-screen, so you have some black bars either side. But I prefer that than having to turn my head to see the minimap etc.

              Hope this helps!

              • @b0omp3z: Thanks for the reply @b0omp3z

"If you're using it as your only monitor you can't share your full screen anymore, you have to share windows or else it'll be tiny for everyone else."
Thats why I will use the PBP for working - dual screen so I can share one not the other. But there is an MS store app that really helps when sharing a ultra wide: https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/region-to-share/9N40… - I've tested it out and it works well.

"Not having to switch out HDMI/DP/mouse/keyboard ports when I want to game vs work is amazing,"
Good to know that works. I do have a USB kvm-hub with a button next to my keyboard to switch between PC's. I'll see which ones performs better if I end up with this screen.

"Almost all the games I play don't support the full-screen, so you have some black bars either side. But I prefer that than having to turn my head to see the minimap etc."
I dont think that will bother me too much. I want the 49' mainly because of the PBP, 2x 27" screens, for work and the ultra-wide when I'm using my personal PC.

When you switch to PBP - do you get the aspect ratio issue others are reporting on Reddit and reviews?

                PS
What kind of GPU are you using for this? I've got a 3060. A lot of reddit posts seem to think its underpowered but when I check actual tests performed on youtube it seems fine unless you playing top-tier games on high-ultra settings (which I cant see myself doing anytime soon).

                • @Skullytor: Thanks for the tips!

I feel like I'm not getting the most out of the monitor now, PBP seems super powerful. I'll also have to get IT to approve that app - currently switching between apps while sharing is annoying.

Good luck with the KVM and the games!

Can't comment of the PBP aspect ratio issues as I haven't used it yet.

GPU for the gaming comp is a 3080ti and it does great for the games I play.
Work laptop is a shitty Dell one, I was worried it wouldn't be able to do full resolution, but haven't noticed any issues and it works fine at 5120x1440p.

Sorry I can't help further! Good luck with it all!

                  • @b0omp3z: Thats good! If your shitty Dell work laptop can run it, my 3060 should be a breeze and my shitty work dynabook will hopefully do split screen

Now its just a matter of waiting for a sales event. So far, if the Samsung or the AOC is on sale - I'd jump on either.

  • Waiting for the OLED version

    • It's out

      • I can’t find it. It’s still showing as preorder on Samsung’s website

        • shipping date: 04 Aug 2023

  • Is this the SSEXXY one? IYKYK…

  • It's Odyssey Neo G95C or nothing!

  • Just asking again - what's the verdict of this screen? Is it worth buying over its competitors in the same category?
