"If you are okay with an unfamiliar brand"

Yea def not ok for me nor I feel comfortable…

    • Agreed

All these random brands popping up is kind of worrying.

I'd rather pay a little more for a reliable brand and not worth the risk of frying my electronics.

      • Most of these "brands" don't even put their brand on the charger. Just garbage chargers sold under 100 different brands.

This one does at least have a brand so it gets 1 point.

The brand or lack there of does not make it garbage. What is inside does. That can be investigated

          • @allewell: They are mostly just rebranded cheap OEM chargers. A printed brand means they at least put some effort in to it and they might be around for longer then a month.

I wouldn't buy any of these garbage chargers (again).

    • Can you recommend any well known super fast charger for tablet?

  • 11.8 x 8.8 x 5.8 cm; 210 Grams fwiw.

Doesn't seem as small as it could be? but it is 65w

    • Holy…that's even bigger than the Lencent one a few weeks ago that claimed to be GaN III. Ended up 2.5 times larger than the original 65W adapter that came with the laptop. I don't have time or skill to crack it open but I would bet it's not really GaN.

    • No, review says 110g, which is normal. The weight on Amazon is usually package weight.

Damn, those are some good reviews by clearly competent reviewers.

Charger surface has a matte finish which indicates high quality

Noted, will only buy chargers with a matte finish from now on.

That video on the 2 star review is showing strange behaviour. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable connecting anything to that charger.

Reviewed here. The reviewer on this site seems to be a fellow ozbargainer lol

It seems to run stupidly hot (90c+!)

Also be wary of cheap gan chargers, don't automatically assume that they're more efficient than non-gan chargers.

Like this Zmi trio that used to pop up a lot on ozbargain, runs more efficiently than even high quality gan chargers

Not allowed to dislike GaN chargers on this forum BTW

      • -1

It's a bit weird - it's just a technology that is used in chargers. The Apple 140w charger as an example, uses GaN semi conductors. It's a high quality product with no/minimal issues reported.

Disliking specific chargers or brands with known issues is much more rational.

I think you need to ask if you only dislike GaN chargers due to it being heavily advertised when used in cheap low quality chargers.

      • Do you feel like talking about your obsession with disliking gan chargers today?

        • I do. I think GaN is primarily a marketing term. Not to say that GaN based MOSFETs don't exist, rather that printing "GaN" on a charger allows the seller to charge more, and omit important filtering and safety components to make the charger physically smaller. Cause GaN chargers are smaller, of course.

When I see GaN on a cheap charger, I tend to avoid it.

          • @allewell: So you have an obsession with disliking it too?

You could easily say the same thing for non gan chargers

            • @Butt Scratcher: You mean, that sellers put "non GaN charger" to make more money? I'm confused. That wasn't my assertion

              • @allewell: Addressing your conclusion that you are avoiding cheap gan chargers, because they're cheap.

So do you honestly get hung up when manufacturers tell you what you're getting? You admit it yourself, you don't doubt that they are actually gan based. It's a gan charger and it is what you're getting. Literally a specification of the charger.

So I guess with you, this charger would've been more appealing to you, if they told you less about the product. I guess you really do have an obsession with disliking gan chargers

Lucky us, the safety certifications are listed on the charger. Ones that aren't compliant, are illegal
