This is a great little Bluetooth page turner pedal that is designed for musicians who read sheet music from a tablet/PC/iPad and want to turn the pages without taking their hands off their instrument.
Only had it a few days but first impression is great - very responsive, silent and just works as you'd expect.
We use with a piano just to the left of the piano pedals at a 45 degree angle.
I've had it my wish list for many months due to the positive reviews and it's typically $45 or on sale around $35 for Black Friday/Prime Day.
A few days ago it was reduced to $24.99 plus I ticked the 10% off coupon (not sure if this applies to everyone) and bought it with a discounted gift card paid for with a discounted Mastercard and with cashback it was around $20 for me.
Delivery via Prime was really quick - ordered just before midnight and got it the next afternoon.

    Upvote for your review :)

  • My son is a keyboardist and just bought an ipad pro. I'm looking at getting him a music stand for his ipad for Christmas and I think this would be a good addition.

OP, what app/s do you use for sheet music?

    • +7

      forscore.

      Nothing else matters

      • Any for Android?

        Thanks OP, got one.

Didn't Metallica compose "Nothing else matters" ? 🤔

        • +5

Yes, but don't share or stream it, whatever you do. :)

Just adding my 2c, I've been using Mobilesheets since Android, then changed to Windows Surface tablet, and now on iPad. It's been running great and library are cross platform (you need to buy the app for individual platform though)

      • Thank you, I did look at it, but found Bandhelper, and my 1400+ songs converted well, though I had to do some scripting etc

    • Just using Acrobat Reader on a laptop

If you are using forscore and already have a digital piano with 3 pedals with usb/Bluetooth midi connection, you won’t really need this device. Forscore has a a section where you can assign the pedals to be your page turners, I’m sure other apps have this capability, which makes this device not required. Here is more info on how it works. https://forscore.co/kb/customizing-page-turners/
You need to connect your piano to you tablet via Bluetooth or usb if you are unsure how feel free to PM me.

    • Thanks, heading to bed after night shift. I'll PM you later today

    • Still handy to have a separate device since pianists often have to perform using someone else's piano.

Is this device smart enough to navigate and page turn between ‘entertainment sites’ on the internet?

    AFAF

    • YES YES it's a keyboard emulator so assign whatever keys you want pressed.

  • Who here plays piano and thinks they're good at it

    • -4

If you are good at it, you don't need this. You play by memory.

      • I mean this can be good for learning new pieces I guess. It's funny, I was watching someone play Liszt the other day and they had the sheet music up and were acting like they were reading it while playing, then they got to the more difficult section and suddenly they were all eyes-on-fingers.

But yes, sheet music is for people that learn pieces by sheet music. Still looks pretty, at least.

My son who is the main user of this pedal prefers to memorise his solo performances and exams since you get more credit and don't have to worry about page turns.
He will use this pedal when performing with others e.g. accompanying another instrument or playing in an ensemble.
Also could be handy for busking if he decides to load all his music on a device rather than carry around books.

  • Can this keep my teams available so it doesn’t go ideal? Asking for a mate.

  • I have this, it pairs as a Bluetooth keyboard and you can select a number of key combinations to associate such as left right arrow, up down. So it'll work with any software that responds to those keyboard presses.

  • Now i never have to use my hands again when browsing ozbargain

I bought one. I do have an Irig 4 way, but this will be handy to setup with my Fold, or keep at practice with my ipad. One less thing to cart around. :)

    Thanks got one!

I was planning on buying or building something like this, so was about to jump on this. Then I saw "built-in rechargeable battery. Frustrating - just use AA or AAAs! I use things for 10+ years longer than other people, so don't want to get stuck with something that has a proprietary battery that can no longer be purchased.

    • +1

No idea exactly what type of battery they use, but if you like tinkering you can very likely just unscrew the back and swap out the rechargable li-ion cell inside.

      • Thanks. Yeah that's me alright but I wanted to remove the battery from a pocket wifi to run it directly off power, but somehow it "knows" it's not a battery and refuses to turn on. So I'm more careful now with what I buy. Maybe I can find someone on youtube who's pulled one apart. If it only has two wires coming from the battery that's half the problem solved.

Mine arrived on Monday. I had a look inside, it just uses a generic lipo cell. There's a lot of room inside if you want to use a larger cell too.

          • @eug: Great stuff, thank you!

  • Hey ozbglow… How did you know the price on this was reduced? Did you just happen to check and saw it discounted, or did you set up some kind of notification?

    • It was in my wish list. I check the prices on those items every now and then and got lucky this time. Sometimes Amazon sends me alerts but I don't think it did on this occasion. Looks like there are services like CamelCamelCamel (link below the post but I didn't put it there) which can send you price drop alerts but I haven't used them.

      • Ok thanks. I should go through reviews again (haven't done so for a few years), choose one, then watch prices.
