Just saw this on sale on Amazon (was actually trying to price check for the DWF against a negotiated deal I got directly with the Dell rep) and it seems like a crazy good price.

It's the OG version with the hardware G-Sync unit which some people may want; just keep in mind that this version the fan can get loud and also you can't update the firmware yourself (due to said G-Sync unit) but apparently it'll run 10bit colour at 144Hz as opposed to the DWF only running at 100Hz unless you hack it with CRU.

Edit: in regards to fan noise I was simply regurgitating info I read/watched from a few reviews etc while researching but it seems like there're plenty of happy owners who said fan noise was not an issue!

    • The jb hifi link shows it at $1679, versus the amazon one at $1469? How do I get them to price-match it?
I would rather pick it up instore at JB versus risking any shipping damage from amazon

      • i must be tripping

On the JB Product page, just click on the chat icon on the bottom left.

It starts an online chat. Tell them you want to price match. Give them the URL to the product page of the other site (amazon).

A JB Rep will give you a price match voucher that is valid till midnight that evening.

Like you, I like having a local physical store to handle warranties of large electrical goods. Much easier than returning a monitor to Amazon.

dell desktop manager also does not work on this so you cannot control brightness/contrast via software

Need 240hz 4k OLED with my 4090. But this is a sweet monitor.

    • +1

What I am using and with same GPU. Promise, you won't use another monitor again.

      • You like it? It's tempting, ngl.

      • I had this and moved onto the C2, better all rounder (and was cheaper at the time as well)

        • Not an ultra wide tho. Just too big.

    • +1

There are actually a couple 32" 4K OLED's around, both ASUS and INNOCN have one…but I think it'll be a while before we see 240Hz lol.

    • using a 138hz 4k OLED at the moment, very nice monitor ASUS PG42UQ

    • Runing this with my 4090, cant go back to anything else.

Mines running mb1.05 but I've never heard the fan or it's very quiet on the never versions ?? mine was recently purchased from JB last month paid $1250 very happy with it

    • The DWF? Yea that one's supposed to be really quiet.

$1250? Bloody hell that's insanely good…I negotiated only down to $1309 with the Dell rep!

Edit: sorry I might have misread you have the OG DW version? I've never had experience with the monitors myself just regurgitating what a bunch of reviews I watched/read said.

      • Nope the DW maybe the newer versions have better fans ? JB only sells that monitor, managed to buy discounted TCN cards price match Amazon and then use the JB perks $30. Mine gots the 5th version of firmware so might help with all the issues

        • Stack on stack on stack that's the way to do it lol.

Yea I'd take a guess that 1. lack of G-Sync unit may help produce less heat so the fans don't ramp up as much and 2. possibly better fans.

      • Hey OP. Fantastic deal. Care to share how you negotiated a deal down to $1309 with the Dell rep. Keen to give it a go myself

        • +1

Hmm nothing special really, was just trying to be polite the entire interaction and acknowledged the fact that the rep probably get bombarded with price requests, she asked if I was a student or corporate employee to which I said I was not but I do run a small business (I do photography as side hustle), she asked for the business name etc and I showed her my website and she came back after a while with $1320 which I thanked her for but asked for an even $1300, she then finally came back with $1309 at which point I doubt they'd be willing to go lower.

          Good luck!

          • @basketballfreak6: Wow I tried with EOY sales when it was $1500 and I'm government etc provided my Gov email address and could only get 5% which I had a generic code at the time anyway. Maybe the costing has changed or new models on the horizon

            • @solidussnake: Very possibly? Or it could be in response to the Samsung G8 price reduction to $1599 (which arguably is the better panel with HDMI 2.1 allowing full 10bit colour and high refresh rate + USB-C port)?

Looking at the OLED timeline released by TFT Central it doesn't look like anything new is coming up on the horizon (not until next year anyway).

Fantastic monitor. Have never once heard the fan either.

I’ve had this version since October and I may be lucky with my unit but the fan noise is non existent. The complaint about it is way overblown.

  • +3

I've had 2x units now. Never heard the fan. 1st one was firmware 102 and ended up having an issue where it wouldn't wake from standby mode. Dell sent a replacement next day and my current unit on 105 is just as good - no fan noise. And honestly no need to update firmware anyway. Definitely recommend

Any good deals for LG C3 42" or any 42" 4K OLED for that matter? Need something that is good for productivity too.

    • I’m in the same market for a 42”+ monitor/tv. The cheapest lately is the eBay deal of a90k 42” carton damaged for $1499. Didn’t pull the trigger at that price, hope we could see the lg panel below $1300.

      • +1

Yeah the lowest I've seen for new units are $1990. Was hoping to see deals but apparently $2195 was the sale JB and other retailers were running previously. $2595 as RRP sounds ridiculous.

  • great monitor and a cracking price. ive had one since release on the initial firmware. No issues, no burn-in, no fan noise.

  • Does this monitor fit on the MSA20 arm?

    • Yes

  • +4

I have this exact monitor with G-sync and the visual quality is orgasmic.

Initially treated it like a LED monitor and never turned off my desktop screen for months.

There were slight burn-in 'shadows' when the screen was black, so I turned on pixel refresh and it all disappeared.

Never had a noise problem as stated in description.

I personally think this is one of the best QOL investments made - I stare at my monitor 9-5 for work, then a couple more hours to play games in ultrawide or surf the net after hours or weekends.

    • The newer firmware automatically does this when it turns off which is really good

  • does it support thunderbolt?

  • +1

Deal expired haha they jacked the price upto JB's

    • Dammit I was just about to pull the trigger, too!

  • can anyone give me a quote number or invoice number from Dell so I can ger a $1300 price for this screen as well?
