Thanks OP. My Fujitsu Scansnap is still going strong for ~ 10yrs now, it just won't die. If I need a replacement, I'll get this one.

+1 for Fujitsu Scansnap - mine must be 10y+ as well, still works like a boss !

  • Can you choose if the scanned pages should be 1 pdf or individual PDFs?

We need to scan 50-100 A4 double sided pages every week but each A4 page needs to be a separate PDF

    • It depends on the software not the scanner, try VueScan and you won't go back anymore.
My trash canon scanner's software (the drivers) wasn't recognised in Windows 7 and after I wasted countless time with the ignorant Canon support guys I installed VueScan.
100% install and go, among its options you can choose to only scan one page or all.

      • Fujitsu scansnap has a setting :

Normal : it'll scan all pages of one batch as one single big pdf (once it runs out of things to scan, it'll end the pdf). You can use this if you want eg. 100 separate pdfs. You just need to feed each page in individually (not ideal)

Continuous : you can scan individual pages and take a break, scan again, etc etc : and it'll create it into one single big pdf. Useful when I have a dozen pages to scan but I need time in between to sort them.

Not sure if this scanner has the same setting.

        • Not sure if this scanner has the same setting

I'm using an old version of VueScan so the latest version might have more functionalities.
Also I don't know Scansnap and if it is compatible with all scanners.

      • Thanks. Will give vuescan a go

    • We have multiple of these devices in the company and yes, it can be saved either as individual PDF or a single multi-page PDF using supplied "Button Manager v2" software.

It has a questionable ability to rename them automatically using either barcode or OCR, but I found it unreliable and we did not implement this process. Simple rename with date/time works fine.

It also supports fancy stuff as auto-split bulk scan with either blank pages (e.g. if you have multiple long contracts, all you need is insert a blank divider between them and it will separate them automatically), specific page count (e.g. each 2 pages per document) or with barcode (again, I didn't find it reliable enough so we don't use it)

  • Brother PDS-6000 shows as $1998??
