  • I don’t need this. I don’t need this…

Having compared and used cables and accessories over the years, I've reached the firm conclusion that Belkin are invariably overpriced cruddy YumCha products with tickets on themselves.

  • Tech question.

If I were to connect my PC to this, (which has a high end GPU that supports g-sync), and on the other end I have 3 monitors (1 of which supports g-sync)

Would it still bring the g-sync to use despite the GPU not being directly connected to this (as I'll be plugging into it via a USB C on the motherboard).

Asking because my setup has my PC about 5 meters away from my peripherals, and it I could get this to work it would save me having all of my cables more than 5 meters long and instead have just 1 cable

    • Some higher end motherboards (and thunderbolt cards) have displayport in to support that exact feature.
But unless your motherboard supports that, It will go off the igpu (assuming you have one at all).

    • Probably not - you'd likely need a cable that goes from the GPU into the mobo to properly support that use case.

Was considering buying this the other day but sadly doesn’t allow for dual screen output from a MacBook. Ended up going with this thunderbolt dock https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/belkin-thunderbolt-3-dock… Got JB to price match myithub.com.au who have it for $114.31. Not as many ports as the Belkin one above but works perfectly for 4K/60 output from both my MacBook Pro and Dell windows work laptop.

    • +2

That one has dual 4k@60 capability and is TB3 so it has 40gbps potential. This bargain is for 10gbps so buyer beware, you will likely get 3x 4k/30fps…

      • +1

Yeh it can only do triple at 4K/30. And needs DP1.4 high but rate 3 with DSC to do that. It can do dual 4k/60 with the same. The various combos can be seen in here. https://www.belkin.com/au/14-port-usb-c-docking-station-65w-…

Glad I went the TB dock in the end. It’s perfect for my needs and as you say, provides loads of bandwidth.

        • So one monitor from the DP and one from the HDMI?

    • +1

Interesting, JB HI FI Miranda won't price match: "There is no where on the website that states about warranty, or if’s it’s a grey import"

      • Don’t try to price match in store, just go on the website and use the live chat. Might only be during weekday business hours, not sure. They will then send you a cart to checkout. Express shipping was only $5. There’s also loads of sites that have it way cheaper than JB. That one I used was just the cheapest and they matched fine. Quick google shows the telecom shop has it for $127, mwave for $133 etc.

        • +1

Confirmed price match online works for me to postcode 3000

    • https://www.i-tech.com.au/f4u110bt-thunderbolt-3-usb-c-porta… i've never shoped with i-tech, but looks like they have it for $79+delivery ($15 delivery for regional SEQLD)

  • Worth noting, make sure your device able to output to all those monitors. I know USB-C doesn't mean it can produce 4 monitor images.

  • No SD card slot!

    • That's ridiculous.

      • No band 28 and wireless charging. No deal.

        J/K

  • I'm assuming it's triple 4k @30fps? 10gbps ain't much bandwidth for a single usb-c connection..

    Any warranty?

Decent price still but 30fps is oof. Maybe 60fps with only 2x 1440p… But then again maybe not.

  • USB4 or no deal.

    • +4

      Prepare for $300 plus then.

    • +1

      There's USB4 now :o
I'm still waiting for things to have USB C as standard

  • I'm at a loss to find whether this supports DisplayLink or not and the various standards make my brain hurt.
Would like to use this with a work provided Lenovo X1 Extreme (20QV0000AU). In the office we use https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/accessories-and-software/docking/docking_usb-docks-(universal-cable-docks)/40af0135au which has displaylink but I'm wondering whether it needs to be a displaylink capable dock or not for use at home or can I get by without a displaylink capable?

  • pity it wont power a large laptop. only 65W PD so 16inch MacBooks wont charge properly

  • Would this support the usb-c charging to my surface pro 7 and output to 2 dell 4K monitors at the same time ?

  • Thanks op - Just after this. The price is still the same without the coupon now and there seems to be stock again
