  • I've had my ebay account for 15 years. I will never ever sign up for ebay plus.

The concept of "signing up again" to something I'm already signed up to, is a farce. I won't be part of that marketing charade.

Ebay either has good deals or it doesn't. The idea of paying them to get good deals, is a joke.

Why not have "ebay plus plus"? Ebay Plus Plus members could pay even more money for extra double plus good deals.

    • +2

Ebay Plus is mainly great if you're a seller, as it offers the $0 seller fees promotion every month, and that's when it pays off many times over

      • Only if you list a new item not items listed from the month before

    • +3

Ebay either has good deals or it doesn't.

It doesn't. I used to buy something on ebay every week. Then they stuffed up their own site so badly not only did I stop even looking there, but their share price crashed. Now they do all sorts of dumb promotional stuff because they're too arrogant and proud to backtrack. The fools that run it have always been that way. I was on ebay long before any other ebay like ebay.au existed, back when people in the USA were shocked I was "allowed" to use the site. Over the years EVERY change they made seemed to make the site worse. Occasionally I'd see an item on Aliexpress but pay a little more to get it on ebay for the buyer protection. But now their ridiculous shipping charges and I think the protection has suffered (or gone) too. I did buy a possum trap on there recently, that was available several other places, but I noticed there was a $5 discount. But before that I can't remember the last time I bought anything on ebay. And it's not like they were unaware they were destroying it, because there was a community on there (may not exist anymore) posting logical arguments and predictions based on fact about what would happen with every change - and they were right - but ignored every time.

  • Didn’t get the email

  • thanks, didn't get the email but the link worked for me

    • Link may work but will you get the voucher?

    • Did you get the voucher?

  • -1

What can I buy for $51 which is not waste of money?
    Unfortunately gift cards are excluded

  • Thanks, got targeted. I was charged $49 for the second year which I cancelled after a couple of days after getting billed. Raised a ticket with CS on chat and took about a month to get back the refund. Was pretty smooth and CS was helpful in checking the refund status for me.
Good offer to jump back in.

    • Same thing happened. Cancelled and they issued a refund. Link works to sign backup but not sure if I'll get the voucher?

  • I didn't have it, so I made sure I cancelled my annual membership that was due to renew in October. It offered me a $30 voucher if I didn't, but I cancelled anyway. Now I have the offer.

  • Has anyone tried stacking with shopback cashback?

    • Tried, hasn't tracked yet and when it does it'll probably be declined for me, ex Plus member and it's new members only.
That said, it was the same for Coles Plus and that still got approved.

    • Mine got tracked but only $5. I have previously signed up for eBay Plus, definitely not a new user

      • Same mine has tracked now at $5, it does state initial tracking will he $0 til payment is confirmed(ebay annual payment)

        • How do you click through shop back and also click through via the $50 Voucher offer link?

          • @sintro: Click through from shopback then go to your ebay messages, find the message about the offer and click the link in it.

            • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: Thanks bro. When I click on the link in the nest it opens up a new tab in the browser. Is that still OK?

              • @sintro: Nest?
I'm using SB app on a phone.

                • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: I meant When I click on the link in the message it opens up a new tab in the desktop browser.

                  • @sintro: Ok well it's been so long since I've used shopback in a browser I can't give an answer,
I would expect it to be ok but don't take my word on that.

I find the app is much more reliable for tracking.

      • Second Ebay Plus tracking has now appeared for $15 on my accnt.

        • Same here. That means we get $20?

          • @kay007: Unlikely, if a new Plus customer got the same double tracking I'd expect the $5 to decline and 15 to approve.
You mentioned your a returning customer, as am I, I expect both to decline in our cases but as I mentioned above for Coles Plus, it was new customers only and I was returning and that was approved.

We'll just have to wait and see.

        • @Corcivillius
I had both $5 and $15 tracked but only the $5 got confirmed the last few days.
The $15 has passed the expected confirm date and I submitted an enquiry.

          • @sintro: Just looked and it's the same on my accnt. as well, 5 approved and 15 with Enquire but I am a returning Plus customer.
Let me know how you go with the enquiry please.

  • Does it define offer available to those with "eligible purchase history" anywhere?

I was supposed to get the ebay $30 gift card deal when I opted to cancel but still renewed. Instead they just cancelled my whole membership and I've been chasing customer service ever since to have it rectified.

Any good video games retailers on eBay? Think the $50 would be perfect for the new fifa or something

  • +2

When I click join, it goes through but no further mention of the gift card. For those who were targeted, did it continue to mention the gift card before signup?

Not certain enough I’ll get it.

  • When ebay charge for ebay plus on the credit card does it show up as an international biller?
Just want to know if my CC will charge foreign transaction fees…

    • It will be charged as a transaction from Switzerland.

Put a reminder in your calendar for 18 September because you may forget it by the time you get it, then will expire on you in 30 days. They expect a non use rate on all vouchers, it's factored in.

  • +1

I hope this does not turn into the fiasco where we all had to chase eBay for our vouchers for month on end, and they kept blaming the delays on (cough) technical issues.

  • How do you know that your account is not eligible? Will I get an error message if I click the link?

    • +1

No you won't get an error message.

Check your Ebay messages for a mesage titled
"NAME, join eBay Plus and score a $50 voucher*"

If you don't have it, you're not targetted.

      • I would suggest chat to eBay customer to ask them for confirmation and keep the chat as proof .

  • My Plus membership ended a couple months ago and they offered a $20 gift card plus $20 voucher to continue, which I did. Odd thing is, as far as I can tell they never charged me. Only have one bank account connected to ebay and no charge on it after 2 months. Anyone else have this happen?

  • Just tried to sign up but Ebay servers are down.

  • +3

I got a $20 voucher instantly using the link - a bit disappointing.

    • +1

      Yeah
Even $30 to stay is better than that

    • Where you targetted for the $50 voucher? If so come 18th Sept badger them for it.

    • I got this too, but definitely got the targeted email, so I'll be chasing them for the $50 voucher after 18th September in addition to this.

    • I was targeted through the app notification, but I just got the $20 instant as well :/

  • Thanks but no thanks. The eBay plus discount was only 3% more than non-member for a recent order I made for a robovac.
I made an offer to the seller for the exact same 3% discounted price and was accepted. Stacked it with the normal coupon and got the same Plus price

    • +1

I agree it's not worth it now-a-days, having said that - I enjoy getting the $5 voucher each month which I then apply to random items which are $15+. Without this voucher, I will not sign up to eBay Plus.

  • So has anyone received the $50 Voucher or have to wait till sept 18?

  • I accidently declined the $30 stay with ebay voucher. So I let them know to cancel my membership. Will wait and see if this gets offered.

  • FYI for anyone who didn't receive an email, check your eBay message inbox.

I didn't get a targeted email but I did receive the eBay message. Bit of peace of mind with easy proof in case of no voucher delivery!

  • I was targeted and received the email but when I click to join it says "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately."

What does that mean? Does that mean I am ineligible or I can still sign up pay $49 and then get the voucher? If someone has already contacted eBay re this please let me know or I will contact eBay

edit: got confirmation from eBay that I can continue to join and will received $50 voucher as they have confirmed that my account is eligible.

  • How do I know if I'm eligible?

    Did not receive the email.

Link works for me signed in (takes me to payment screen) but i don't want to sign up if I"m not getting the voucher!

    • Check your ebay messages for the offer.
"NAME, join eBay Plus and score a $50 voucher*"

      • Nope- nothing there. Darn, I'm making a big $500 purchase today (battery), hoping to save some $$. I did the Prezee voucher & ShopBack so far. Any other suggestions?

        • Nothing comes to mind sorry.
You wouldn't get the voucher til mid month if you where eligible.
10% shopback w/ 15% westpac at the moment.

  • For those who have been targeted…

Is there any mention of the offer on the screen where you add payment details?

    • +1

No mention of the offer at payment.

    • +1

no, if you have a message/email then you are eligible. But you can always confirm with eBay chat as well - takes less than 5 mins

  • Could you have multiple items from different sellers to make up the total cost to $50+ in a single transaction so that you can apply the $50 eBay Plus voucher?

    • +1

      Yes you can.

  • Joined on the 31st of August as the deal was still on. But noticed the T&Cs state "Sign up to an annual membership before August 31, 2023"

Not sure if i'm gonna get the voucher :(

    • Chat to the them and ask?

  • Promotion runs "Before 31 August".
Do T&C say somewhere the actual time when the promotion ends?
Trying to understand has it already expired today 31.08.23, OR 31 Aug is included?
(I got the offer in the app, but looked at it only 10 min ago).

    • Do you happen to know where in the T&C does it says "Before 31 August" ?
I read the link and it says "Promotional Period" but no mentioned of end date.
I spoke to the eBay representative earlier and they say i am still eligible. But he doesn't sound too convincing so trying to see what others have gathered.

    • -1

Page and link seems to suggest that this is still available but when I click to submit payment I get "An error has occurred. Please try again later.".
      My sub expired today…

  • +1

So lets see if this $50 voucher comes through today.

    • +1

      Nothing in my inbox yet

      • Got the voucher at 10:12am AEST

      • Might need to wait up to 10 days according to CS:

“I'd like to share that vouchers have been started issuing for eligible members from 18th September. As such vouchers are being rolled out in phases, we expect this be completed within 7-10 days.

So, I'd request you to wait, and if you do not receive the voucher within 10 days then you can contact us and we'll help you with it.”

  • +1

Had a chat with support, they said the system will start sending it out from today

  • Did anyone get charged by their CC for an International Transfer fee ($A1.47) for paying this subscription using the link given ie. on the Australian ebay website?

  • +1

Just checking in to say I just received my $50 voucher via email!
Pleasantly surprised I didn't have to chase it up (and that it was delivered on time).

  • Got my voucher via email at 10:09

    XXX,
    your $50 voucher is here
Thanks for renewing your eBay Plus membership.

Your voucher has been added to your account. Find it at checkout, in My eBay Messages, or use the code below.

  • Received the voucher code via email with clickable link to redeem

Also code is found in: My Ebay > Vouchers

  • Received the voucher….assume this can't be stacked with ebay gift cards?

    • +2

You can stack vouchers with ebay gift cards.

But you cannot stack vouchers with another voucher/coupon like this.

      • thanks

  • Got the voucher also.

  • Got it too

  • Still waiting on mine, have set a reminder for the weekend. (profanity) ebay better not make this a pain

    • And i got it, but didnt get a message in my ebay.

  • +1

    No voucher here :(

    • Were you targeted?

      • In my case I'm not sure if I was. But the sign-up promo banner and link worked for me so I thought that maybe it went through somehow. Although it has been 4 days and nuthin so far so I'm assuming I effed up. Goodbye $49…

        • Same. Have you tried chatting with them?

          • @myfeetarehappy: I'll try in the morning and come back with updates. In the meantime it's just gonna be bargain-surfing on eBay.

          • +1

@myfeetarehappy: Somehow got one in the mail today. Expires in a month. Not sure how it happened but I will gladly take it.

            • +1

@SkyFinance: Congratulations, mine is about to expire, not sure what to buy

  • Bah, no voucher and no help from ebay.
Rep advised was sent to people who qualified - one of those qualifications was having cancelled the renewal of ebay plus prior to the 13th.. I cancelled mine a few days after on the 19th - and renewed on the 27th via this link.

So no automated voucher was applied to my account even though I used the link.

Took it to reps who denied my request for a) the voucher and b) cancel and refund my Plus account on the grounds I thought I was getting a voucher, the only thing disqualifying me was that date which is not in the terms I agreed to when joining. Reason for not refunding is a) outside 14 days (which is applicable for AUTO renew - which this isn't) and b) they just don't do that - ever for 'new' sign ups.

So now to my payment gateway to dispute it… certainly would not have signed up if I knew it was going to be declined. They relied on the cut off date and that it should not have been shared - both of which are not in the terms of the form to join with the reward.

    • Report to ACCC and do a charge back on your card. I received my voucher and was very surprised that I did. All the best with the charge back, eBay are known for this dodgy shit

      • yeah I was basically saying to them fairs fair - no coupon then don't take my money. If their terms were I had to have x dates for activity then put it in the terms. If you say if I had been a valid user I would have received and email for success (for the coupon) when I purchased "automatically"…. well how about if I don't qualify don't give me a success screen and don't take my money also? But they acted like they didn't understand, and yet expect to take their word for this arbitry date they could have just made up then and there.
