I got email on "rejoin Plus today and get $50" too

    • When did you cancel eBay plus to be eligible for a rejoin?
I tried to cancelled 2 days before anniversary and got offered a retention voucher of $30 only :(

      • Did you try click "Join Now" at the top of the page using the link - does it give you any error?

      • +1

I think maybe 2 months ago

        • Same

      • +1

yeah but the retention $30 is valid for 3 years and the $50 re-sign up one is only valid for 30days

  • +2

    I've been Targeted

  • This is one of the better deals right? $50 voucher with $50 min spend on Plus items is quite good?

    • +8

I'd call it the bare minimum to get me to join Plus. Although my last subscription was $5 annual stacked with an $80 and $20 voucher plus $15 cashback from Shopback, so I don't even know if it's enough any more 😁

    • Yes, it's basically free.

  • +1

    Also received the email.

Just rejoined, but don't see the $50 Voucher, even though the T&Cs said 'instant'…

    • +3

Yeah what, the T&C says instant at the top, but if you go further it says "The Voucher is valid for 30 days from the issue of the voucher on September 18, 2023 "..

Doesn't look like eBay understands what the word "instant" means..

      • +1

Missed the issue date from the T&C'ss…not really 'instant' hahah.

I guess to wait out the people just signing up on the 30 days free trial…

        • +5

You can 'instantly' use it once they give it to you later!

          • +3

            @damion: If they ever do…

I only got 5 x $5 monthly vouchers. After chat + call + chat…They sent me an email acknowledging the other 7 were accidentally not sent….then left it at that with no intention to fix it.

            • @tunzafun001: Yup, I've been in that position quite a few times over the last few years with my ebay plus memberships. One time they did actually just give me a unrestricted voucher for $30… which made the chat effort worth it. I finally appear to be getting both monthly vouchers automatically.

            • @tunzafun001: Same with me!

            • @tunzafun001: Likewise 😥

            • @tunzafun001: Can u accumulate the monthly $5 vouchers or do u have to use them that month?

              • @Dejaar: No accumulation, have to be used in that month,
Also you can't stack vouchers, 1 voucher and 7 giftcards per order.

                • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: And they can't be used with other promo codes. So often you might chose a 10% code over the $5 voucher. Plus any cashback deal will be invalid if the $5 is used (if you actually get it).

      • Instant false advertising.

  • Used to be $80 :/

    • could the 80 be sent next time if you reject this 50 one

    • +3

      Never see $80

  • +21

The trouble is finding something to buy you need that isn’t just a waste of money. And you only have 30 days.

    • You also get 2x $5 Vouchers every Month

      • +10

I had eBay plus for a while. Those vouchers were pretty much useless, only valid on plus items.

The free delivery was only on plus which usually had free delivery anyway.

The only benefit is the occasional special which may not suit you.

I have Prime, much better and can still use eBay occasionally with no real downside.

        • +7

One of the monthly $5 vouchers is valid on anything with $15 minimum spend. Meaning up to 33% discount on a small or several small items. I use that one most months.

          • @team teri: Agree, those ones are good. Rarely bother with the spend 50$.

What people are forgetting is the extremely fast free shipping, and odd eBay plus discounts pop up on items where having eBay plus the price gets reduced a lot on a few things I've seen (like access to those afterpay codes etc).

      • +4

7 of mine never arrived (eBay don't care).

Of the ones i did use, one was lost in the mail and one was a fake. Both times the refund got returned to eBay …not me. Called up, and they said that's the T&Cs for refunds. Apologised for the missing 7, but could offer one $5 in compensation…then hung up on me for having the audacity for asking to ask for the others.

      • +1

I've never been able to use these $5 Vouchers. Not sure why, is it limited to some items, or some min spend. I gave up really.

    • +3

And you can't add other voucher like 15%/20% off which really kills. Give me gift card and I'm happy to sign up again.

      • +2

        Long expiry card, yeah, maybe.

    • +1

and this $50 voucher does not stack with discount code offer.

    • Good point on the 30 day validity period.

    • Agree!

    • Anyone have any tips for where/how to spend the $50 on 'essentials' on eBay?

By that I mean everyday items that you would normally buy anyway (eg. groceries, household cleaning, and the like).

If not easy, I would be loathe to lock myself in to a 30-day period in which I have to find something to waste $50++ on.

      • +1

Also in case you don't already know, have to spend the $50 in one transaction. It's a single use discount up to $50.

It's hard finding something that you wouldn't get a better discount on with another code. Probably a cart of smaller items

(Just saw the voucher info was in OP this time. I just remember others had been caught out previously)

  • Anyone know when this promo ends? i want to sign up on the very last day since I already have ebay plus

    • +1

The email I received says "Sign up to an annual membership before August 31, 2023 to score a $50 voucher". Have added to description as the T&C oddly doesn't seem to have this information..

  • what fad is that ?

    • the compulsion to collect PEZ dispensers is to blame …

  • So I signed up, but didn't get any voucher.

    Anyone got theirs yet?

    • +2

      Were you "targeted"?
If you didn't received the email from eBay, I doubt you'll get the voucher

    • +3

T&C says voucher issued from September 18

  • +1

If I sign up today will I be eligable for the $0 Variable Final Value Fees in August/September? If eBay were to add that to the benefits of getting eBay Plus it might actually entice me to subscribe regularly.

    • Yep. I just signed back up just then and have the monthly $0 variable fee. Just have to activate it again.

      • Just signed up, lets see how we go

  • +1

    not received

  • +2

lucky we have some time to sign-up and think what we need buying >50.

  • +1

    I ain't eligible.
"You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately."

    • +1

I got the same BS and ended up not signing up, I asked ebay to clarify this but I haven't heard back. Last time I had ebay plus it wasn't worth it, most that I wanted to buy couldn't accept the voucher, even though it was advertised on the item. I gave up and this time it looks like they are still playing games.

  • Don't know why I was charged twice.

    • That's no good. Can you tell me if the transaction is an international biller or ebay AU biller?

      • International biller, I have connected and told them the two invoice IDs, but the guy still wanted me to send the screenshots. I still haven't received a refund after I sent the screenshots. If I have not received the refund by the end of the week, I will open a PayPal dispute.

  • +4

Avoid falling for their scams with their vouchers for eBay Plus.

I was offered one to be with eBay Plus - ended up having to chase their hopeless customer support for weeks (multiple times) to get it.
They blamed a technical glitch but no one could issue the voucher or give me a discount code.

    Wasn't worth the trouble…

    • Going though it now no voucher and there investigating

  • +9

EBay sucks these days, apart the occasional purchase. Amazon is king.

    • +3

They really are, and have been for a long time, idiots. They think the solution to their next dumb idea is always bringing back a worse version of what they already had, but charging more for it. Di__heads.

    • Why am I struggling to find PS5 games on it? For example preordering EA FC 24

      • I don't think you can list preorders on ebay unless the item will be shipped within 20 days. So probably won't be available to preorder until 20 days before release date

    • -1

Certainly. I concur. In my experience, Amazon offers fewer duplicated items and often groups identical products together. Additionally, their review system is excellent. On the contrary, when searching for a single item on eBay, one might navigate through ten pages, and still see the same item. Also eBay lacks an effective review system.

  • My plus expired a couple of months ago. Just renewed. Was hanging out for this offer. Thanks.

  • +1

I got this offer too. i assume it'll be a $50 "voucher" and not a "gift card" so it can't be stacked with any other voucher offers. really dulls the value, but better than nothing. Will probably re-sign up (i cancelled my annual membership around May this year).

  • +2

How do i know if im eligible? Received no email but it lets me signup through the given link, but no mention of the voucher on the payment page

  • Will this stack if you got the email and sign up via ShopBack for another $15 cashback?

    • Why don't you try, and let us all know? =)

  • +1

Worth it for seller promos. Weird I got an app notification but no email.

    • Same! I've been trying to find the darn email but never got one even though I got the app notification.

  • +2

Just fken joint the Plus and realized it is not instant $50.. Lol

    • Because ppl abused it

  • Is there a way to turn off autorenewal for eBay plus? My membership ends on October, it says a next payment date. Other than setting myself a reminder, is there I way to just let it end after the current subscription period?

    • +2

just cancel your membership now and it still continues until the end of the membership in October.

      • Where is the 'cancel EBay Plus membership' on the website - I can't find it. (I only found the cancel entire membership)

        many thanks

        • Never mind - found it.

          "2. Membership cancellation
2.1. You may cancel your eBay Plus membership at any time by selecting “Manage membership” on your eBay Plus membership page and then selecting the “Cancel” option in the drop-down menu.

  • Can't be used with other discount codes, so very little value unless you're planning on getting ebay plus anyway.

  • +1

Someone screenshot this because I dont trust ebay to actually give the voucher

    • +1

      just like menulog

    • I signed up via banner this morning didn't get the voucher eBay are investigating

  • +1

By far I've got 3 yrs free membership from eBay. Suffice to say it's a good membership when joining like this😎

  • +1

Tempted to neg, it's a mediocre deal at best with a crap marketplace - if there's a problem they always side with the seller, unlike Amazon. You should not need to pay $49 to get free returns on faulty or misrepresented items.

    • Oh meant to add, almost everything I'd consider buying on Ebay I can get from Aliexpress much cheaper, and with their $7ish combined 14 day delivery they are as fast and they also side with the buyer on misrepresented items.

      • Only if you raised a case within the initial time period. Once that's elapsed, while AliExpress kinda still help, a full refund can be difficult for item not as described. I recently forgot to test an item quickly. AliExpress was only willing to offer partial refund (50%).

eBay, when the seller is dodgy, CSR was only able to offer "our team will contact the seller to not do that in the future and may suspend the seller account if the seller made the same mistake again in the future". However, I was overcharged for postage (dodgy seller charged me express, waited nearly 1 week to post the item and sent regular post). feeBay not doing anything for me since it is not a feeBay Plus item.

    • +4

Im sorry, i think you’ve mixed up buyer and seller. They literally ALWAYS side with the buyer. Which makes it bad for sellers, not buyers. See all the stories of eBay refunding buyers for the most bogus reasons and leaving sellers out of pocket.
And funny that you mention that Aliexpress always side with buyers when im my experience for obvious seller mess ups they’ve always sided with the seller but that seems to going way given that you can pay with PayPal now and let them decide the resolution

      • Not "always". I was overcharged postage, all I got from feeBay CSR is, we will email that seller to inform him not to do it again (to future buyers) and how to send Express Post using eBay. From the seller's feedback comments, it is so obvious seller sent express post before so clearly seller decided not to. Wasted 20 minutes chatting to CSR… All I get was, yes, they agree with me, the seller is dodgy, but no, I am not going to get any amount of money back for being charged express post, but getting parcel post.

The listing clearly says express post and the amount charged is express post. However, because it is not a feeBay Plus item, they will do nothing even though I paid for express post.

        • Im not talking about overcharging postage fees, im talking about item not received and not as described and arriving broken, they will always side with buyer and refund them once its been returned or even without sending the item back. Even cases that the buyer claims the seller sent the completely wrong item and eBay still refunded the buyer when its so obvious that its a bogus claim

          • @jayboi: Well, how about service not received? I know for feeBay Plus, if the item doesn't arrive in time, there is some compensation.

It doesn't make sense that I "paid" for Express Post (I know how much Express Post costs), and I got Parcel Post (if the seller got 50% postage discount on postage, then the seller is clearly ripping me off). But nothing from eBay CSR. It is very annoying the first question they asked me is whether it is a feeBay Plus item.

Are you saying being charged express post and ended up getting parcel post is fine? All eBay needs to do is an e-mail to the seller basically saying don't do it again. That's being always helpful to the buyers?

            • @netsurfer: Im not saying that it’s fine. But the bigger picture is that when your item that costs hundreds or if not thousands arrives broken im sure you’re gonna be much more thankful when they refund you when compared to a $10 extra fee for express post you paid that got lost. I never pay extra for express post for that reason, and if i do im messaging them first to confirm it.

              • @jayboi: Yet another assumption from you. Seller did NOT offer regular post. Seller insisted on only offering Express Post. Seller also missed the 2 days postage and handling time.

So, large amount is important, small amount customers can cop it? Seller only offered Express Post, charges it and wait nearly a week and posted using regular post. That's AOK for feeBay. I am a feeBay Plus member for years (zero difference).

                • @netsurfer: I know there are shady sellers out there. But the only thing you can do is stop buying from them. My initial comment was they still side with the buyer for claims like item not described and item not received. And that still stands true, out of all the sellers I’ve bought from there was 1 or 2 that underpaid postage and one that did the same thing and sent with standard instead of express. I agree that eBay customer support is not good. But the only thing you can do is either dispute with PayPal for the difference and just dont buy from them in future.

                  • @jayboi: The thing is, I'd rather feeBay Support told me that I need to take up with PayPal, instead of wasting my time for 15-20 minutes to "check" with supervisors and came back and said, they will e-mail the seller to "educate" him. feeBay Support did NOT tell me to initiate any form of partial refund request and only said I should leave a feedback comment on the seller.

Frankly, if eBay is willing to offer free return on that item, as soon as I receive it, I am more than happy to initiate the return. The seller clearly knew he can get away with it and that's why he doesn't care. If I knew feeBay Support is this bad at this type of request, I would not have bothered chatting with them.

With eBay, for dodgy / NQR items that's like $2 or $3, normally I just chuck them in the bin. For Amazon, I am happy to do the refund since there is a return point within walking distance.

Last time I needed to return a faulty item to get refund, feeBay asked me to deal with the seller first. FeeBay did not offer me a free return postage at that time. I decided to pay for the return postage myself because the cost of item is much higher and it is more important to get the refund than worrying about $20 postage (had to used registered post).

                    • +1

@netsurfer: I do agree that their customer service is awful especially when compared to amazon. They are next to useless for most things. But i think the team that reviews return requests put in manually are much better than the team that is in CS. They haven’t really given me a hard time and from memory, the returns team gave me a free label too. Just dont go through CS for putting in a return request

                      • @jayboi: It's still seller dependent. If you get a dodgy seller (like the one I am experiencing right now). The seller can take the maximum time to do it. I even had a seller who elected to completely ignore it and had me waited for eBay to step in to rule and issue the refund.

The seller feedback is useless. 100% positive feedback with comments from people saying fast delivery with express post, yet the seller decided to go dodgy on me.

      • Got sold a fake shoe. eBay compensated both of us (buyer and seller). Didn't have to return or anything.
