  • Whats the deal with this AMD CPU? Its a CPU+GPU combo right (according to Wiki its combined with a 7520G)? But its also got a dedicated 7670 GPU as well?

  • +1

Correct its got both a CPU+GPU and a dedicated graphics card. The AMD software switches between the two when required in order to save battery life.

So it doesn't/can't work in hybrid crossfire?

edit: beat me by 3 seconds :P

      • +2

        You can have the spotlight

      • Google says "It does do Hybrid Crossfire"

        Also video of benchmark performance

        • how strange that it works, or is it just displaying it? hybrid xfire have come a long way, back then the cores had to be almost same on both

        • +1

It definitely supports Dual Graphics (AMD doesn't use the term hybrid crossfire any more).

  • Is this on sale only until the Monday the 10th. Wow good price considering you paid $599 a few months back and other places are selling it for way more than both these prices. tes2131 you were talking about processor speed when you said it was snappy is that correct. How fast does this laptop boot up like average time. How does the video and audio look and sound.

    • Well I find the audio damn amazing probably one of the best I have seen besides the BEATS laptops. I would say the processor is comparable to top of the range I3 to low range I5.

The laptop is fairly quick to start up haven't actually timed it though but i'd say around 10-15 Seconds. The screen is a nothing spectacular but equal to pretty much all laptops within the price bracket. The sale ends on the 10th according to the DSE website.

  • CyberGenesys how good will windows 8 be I'm really tempted to get this laptop and install Windows 8 on it just to have a brand new and different OS.

    • +2

      I dunno :P

Personally I don't like the looks of Windows 8, but for 15$ I'd be prepared to give it a try. The offer is for any PC or laptop bought between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 and has a valid Windows 7 OEM license.

ps, use 'reply' when asking questions :)

      • +3

Could I do this but keep Win 7 on the laptop and use Win 8 on a other computer?

        • Not sure, I don't think there is anything physically stopping you?

"Each upgrade license will apply to only one PC and may only be installed on PCs with a valid base license to a qualifying operating system (i.e., Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7)."

  • Can anyone advise me how this one at dse compares to this one at mln?

    https://www.mln.com.au/search/?searchItem=Budget_Deal

Edit: for general day to day use. Eg uni work. Using stats programs.

    • If you are going to do any gaming on it, get this one. Otherwise you can probably just save the 50 bucks and get the MLN one which has the added bonus of a somewhat better CPU.

  • Dual Graphics may suffer from micro stuttering. Quote:

AMD Dual Graphics or asymmetric CrossFire and uses AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) to render different frames on the two graphic cores. Therefore the combination also suffers from micro stuttering (different spaces between two images lead to stuttering altough the framerate is high enough for fluent gaming with only one GPU).

Not sure how bad this might be but put a damper on it for me as I really liked the option of using both cards in xfire.

  • just wondering…..i made on online pick up order…havne't paid it yet.
But thinking of buying a tablet instead now….
can I just cancel the order when they call me up?

    • Just give the store a call and let them know you've changed your mind
