combine with $1 new member offers, now with the new logging in process it's even easier & faster to create new accounts

    • Definitely! Will just need to put it through as 2 transactions since you cannot have 2 offers in 1.

    • +5

What's the new logging in process?

      • +1

        This.

It's good that mcdonalds don't require phone number, but email verification is a pain in the ass haha

  • +14

    Impressed with McDonalds lately.

Used to be the fast food place with no offers/vouchers.

It's like HJs and McDonalds have traded places.

    • -5

Used to be the fast food place with no offers/vouchers.

They haven't been fast for 15+ years.

      • +1

I've never had to wait more than a few minutes after ordering through the app at any of the five or so stores I order through during these deals over the past few years.

Sounds like you're doing it wrong.

    • +18

Without these deals their food is simply unaffordable for what it is… How much would this deal be regular price? I'm guessing it'd be close to $20.

      • +11

Honestly, no idea. As a true ozber I only buy maccas when there is a deal.

Nov in particularly is very high traffic haha

      • +4

Yeah I would be more impressed with Maccas if they managed to curb their pricing in spite of inflation, the deals are a nicety but someone else did the maths and this is nearly $18 at full price, that's actual insanity for their generic, all year round offering.

        • In years gone by this deal would be $5. But it is what it is.

      • +1

If people without much money or on government income wish to pay for convenience, cop it.

      • +1

        Agree. For most menu items.

Dominos is already past the value proposition.

      • That is actually my favourite part when I see the strikethrough of something ridiculous like $26 for the two big mac meals I only paid $8 for. Why can't their algorithm figure out that I have never bought anything from there without a voucher and cut me off?

  • +8

mc chicken sucks but its so cheap

    • Much prefer it over the Big Mac

    • It's decent. Add cheese and lettuce and it's really good.

    • I should have asked if my McChicken could be replaced with a Cheeseburger.

  • +17

    Normal Prices:
    Small McChicken Meal $13.10
    Cheese Burger $4.90
    Grand Total: $18

I am legit shocked by this preposterous pricing, like people actually pay this much for this shit normally!??

I bought one of these deals last week for $5.90 and I would say it wasn’t even worth that much, had no idea what the usual pricing was haha

    • +6

Yeah maccas has gone bonkers - the chief of KFC actually said they are not going to increase prices in line with inflation which is really good, and now my go to if I want something cheap, fast and nasty. Maccas only gets my business when deals like this pop up. The thing that gets me is places like maccas, HJs etc are all almost as expensive as a proper meal out at a restaurant.. at $18, chuck an extra fiver in and youve got a schnitty special at the pub with a schooner along side it.

      • -3

Went to the rogue squire last week for their pub parma. It was $30 without drinks and excluding weekend surcharge.

        • +4

Yeah you can't just waltz into any pub, like I said schnitty special. Comon man we are in the post covid world, you gotta get the nose to the ground and sniff out a good pub deal like a true ozbargainer lol.

My personal favourite, although way too far for me to visit anymore, is the Kingsgrove Hotel - $16 Schnitty. It seems they have got rid of the schooner deal on top of that, which used to be an extra couple bucks on top. But hey, $16 and it comes in under the maccas deal, its a hell of a lot more food and it wont ruin your stomach in the process. The salad is also kinda bangin for a pub salad honestly.

          • @doobey1231: Can anyone enlighten us on good pub deals in Melbourne?

      • +2

“ the chief of KFC actually said they are not going to increase prices in line with inflation which is really good”

This is blatantly false. Every time the new targeted KFC deals are posted someone will post the table showing menu changes are there is ALWAYS sweeping price increases across the board and there has been for some time now.

        • +5

What they meant was they will increase prices at a rate higher than inflation…

          • @smartazz104: My mistake, I mis read that as no price increases. However they do seem to increase prices when that drop new targeted deals. The last drop saw increases between 3-6% and if this happens multiple times a year then wouldn’t they be exceeding yearly inflation? (Maybe they meant inline with monthly inflation)

Anyway, I only go to these places for the deals anyway which are still very good value.

            • @D0OMZDAYZ: Funnily enough a post on reddit just came up and most people are agreeing that KFC seems to be one of the few places where prices have remained reasonable compared to other fast food outlets, I am not the only one thinking this it seems.

          • @smartazz104: I lol'ed.

        • Look I haven't done research on the matter, but my usual order hasn't changed in cost for as long as I can remember so I believe the statement.

      • Still some pubs doing the old $10 schnitty, chips and salad deals. Bowral hotel for one. Most though have put the price up to somewhere between $12-$15. I wouldn't pay $20+.

Go and and look up the items on the menu, my maths is correct.

        • -1

I'm just showing a screen capture from my order. IDGAFF about your maths.

Gonna need a source on this: Small McChicken Meal $13.10

  • lunch sorted, thanks OP :)

  • -1

Did anyone get a duplicate? I have two of these deals sitting on my account, one has the picture the other is just blank, cant work out if its a second legit deal or just the app playing up..

    • +1

There are 2 in the app.

One of them is $5.90 for in app purchase only and the other is $6.90 for any payment type.

      • +1

Ah! Yep didn't see the change in dollar amount, thanks for that.

  • -1

The $5.90 option is only one time per account, though the $6.90 option is the entire week till midnight Monday.

    • +1

I think the $6.9 is also once

    • nah anything in that deals section is one use

      • The $1 large frozen drinks is not single use.

  • +1

Hungry Jack's is subjectively tastier in general, but they never catchup to Maccas.

    • -1

Hungry Jack's daily spinner thingy in the app often pops up a Whopper burger for $4 which acutally tastes good and is a decent size. Mcdonalds tastes like Mcdoodoo in comparison.

    • Carls Jr app more likely better for you then, often have like $5 small burger and chips.

      • chicken burger?

  • Error when trying to pay in app for St Leonards.
    Lunch not sorted 😡

    • Which payment method?

I prioritise google pay whenever possible as my card is always up to date compared to manually entering the card details into the app.

      • Yep.
Had google pay And a credit card

Must be St Leonards running out of Chickens
The $6.90 option was the same.
I changed to two other locations and was able to pay

        • Yeah I haven't been able to use any deal at St Leonards via app for a while, could only use it on their ordering kiosk

    • i had an error while paying, at least on iOS when the apple pay failed i could switch from eftpos (which it was defaulting to) to visa on the same card. then the payment worked.

it's a weird one, only seems to happen at maccas

  • +1

What's the story with the McChicken patties - are they the sames as the chicken and cheese ones? I've recently found the c&c burger to be tastier all up.

    • +1

I think it is the same patty but the cheese could be making the big difference.

    • add cheese goober

  • Got both

  • +5

Any Quarter pounder deals coming up soon?

    • No

    • +11

With that username, why are you asking us?

  • added the cheese burger patty and cheese to the mcchicken, was okay for a $6 lunch

    • I did that too! I know it's not in the OzB spirit to throw away perfectly good bread, but it felt like too much empty carbs (which sounds like a ridiculous thing to say when talking about a fast food meal but oh well)

  • Got it, great deal - thanks OP for the reminder!

I managed to swap the cheeseburger for another chicken burger, by asking nicely at the counter (I asked if I could substiture the beef patty for a chicken patty)

  • How to get $5.90 Pay by Mobile?
    Edit nm. there's 2 offers.

  • fav hack:
    1. open your McChicken
    2. open your cheeseburger
    3. transfer cheese and patty from cheeseburger to McChicken
    4. close McChicken. discard the rest of cheeseburger
    5. eat modified McChicken

    • +1

      eww

      • +5

Homer: Now, what do you have to wash that awful taste out of my mouth?

Khlav Kalesh Guy: Mountain Dew or Crab Juice.

Homer: Blecch! Ew! Sheesh! I'll take a crab juice.

  • +1

I dont understand why they are so desperate for ppl to order though their app

They already have self serve registers

    • Self serve kiosk can’t take analytics from your personal device.

      • Don't bring that to their attention! You'll need to give a blood sample when verifying your order at the kiosks from now on!

  • +1

Hmmm, I shouldn't have clicked on this post. I didn't realise there was an in app only deal too. Also shouldn't have logged into the app to find a $9 for two quarter pounder meals deal (not as good as the $8 for two Big Mac deal last week)… now I'm trying to figure out how to get to Maccas 3 times this week :-D

  • -1

Normally I probably wouldn't (even at 5.90 its not that good a deal). But I also have a 'spend $5 and get 1000 bonus points' offer, so might as well.

    • Same here, but still haven't redeemed the $5.90 offer. Did you get the 1000 bonus points ordering this?

  • The app is not secure, always remove your card details after purchase. I had an order placed and paid from the other side of Australia using my card details.

  • I would rather starve

  • yeah the app deals suck over last year
