Tidal HiFi Family (6 Users) Monthly Arg$145 (~A$0.65, New Account Only, VPN to Argentina Required) @ Tidal

770

Although prices meant to go up on August 1. They did and now there not. Maybe it's a price error? That's why I am reposting the previous deal, I got the ok from mods to repost.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - $0.65 a month Note: There isn't a 12 month option. So you will pay month to month, price will change depending on the currency rate.

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Use Tunnel Bear, PIA, Surfshark, Urban VPN etc)
2. Click on Ozbargain link. Single user plan top of page, Family Plans scroll down. Choose Hifi
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, retry or try a different VPN. (Important)
4. Click through the registration process on the plan you want. Note: If it shows $145 in the later steps don't worry, the system means ARS 145.
5. Turn off VPN on Credit Card page as payment will not go through with VPN on. (Important)
5. Mastercard works fine. Visa Credit Card's don't work. See below for other Credit Card options.
6. After sign up, verify your email address (email will be in Spanish).
7. You no longer need the VPN and can use Tidal on any device normally.

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.
Update: “Unless you add a family member, your plan will automatically revert to Individual on the next billing cycle.”

MORE DETAILS SECTION:

  1. If you use NordVPN, it doesn't correctly connect to Argentina and fails to show ARS currency. Use Tunnel Bear VPN instead.
  2. VISA Credit Card seems to not work. Verified working credit cards are Mastercard, 28 degrees Latitude, Coles Credit Card, Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost plus some other brands of cards, see comments.

    Don't cry for me Argentina~!

    • +1

      Now we're the ones crying.

  • +1

    Thanks Javier Milei for this

  • I have a family subscription to Tidal Argentina: the problem is that it's impossible to invite people who don't have an argentinian account (even when they open it with VPN set to Argentina).

    • Yeah, the only way about it is for them to create an Argentina account before accepting the invite.

    • I can add AUS emails, maybe change to family first.
Maybe they've changed something for new accounts.

  • Got it working on my old family account. Thanks. :)

    Just got this email :(

    Hi,

We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the acceptance of payment cards in light of recent changes in the handling of Argentine Peso (ARS) currency exchange by Visa and Mastercard. As a result of these changes, our payment processor will now only accept cards issued by Argentine banks for the foreseeable future. This includes both Visa and Mastercard.

Depending on your current country of residence, you have a few options available to you:
If you currently live in Argentina and are using a VISA or MASTERCARD card that was not issued by an Argentine bank, please update your payment method to a card issued in Argentina. Failure to do so may lead to billing failure and, ultimately, the cancellation of your subscription.

If you have moved to a different country, you will need to create a new TIDAL account using a different username and register it in the new country where you currently reside. Once your new account is set up, we can assist you in transferring all your playlists and favorites.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the TIDAL Support team here.

    • When did you sign up?

      • +1

A month ago, when this deal was last valid.

    • Bummer

    • Damn.

    • Oh no, just checked my email and nothing yet.

Showing my subscription as ARG $225 / month

      • +1

same, although I have had an account for two years.

        • Yeah I signed up at the end of June

    • Me too, it was a good run 😢
I'll leave it until they cancel it

    • Ive been using the Argentinian el-cheapo route for a year now. Just received the same email. It was fun while it lasted. Hopefuly someone here finds a work-around.

    • Just got this too.

Lucky the tidal algorhythm sucks so no loss.
      ]
      Youtube music for me.

      • +4

        Enjoy poor quality sound :)

        • +2

Most of the time I'm listening to music on work vehicles that have terrible speakers so doesn't really make a difference to me lol.

        • I hope he does too, YouTube music sq sucks more than Spotify, haha

Personally I think the tidal algorithm is pretty good, has automatic infinity play and Daily discovery is good.

Wonder if this will apply to old customers.
There will be a work around eventually, somehow, hopefully.

Spotify hi-fi would be ok if it ever happens but not holding my breath.

    • I got this too. It's all over! What country to go for next?

    • +1

I've just received that email as well.
Been paying with AU Mastercard for about 2 years.

    • +2

The suckers started showing me all English emails, I knew something was wrong. And now this Mastercard thing. It's Tidal's loss lol

      • Reckon they'll be upset over losing 1.50 a month?

        • Multiply that by a few hundred thousand users across the world using this method. And they will unlikely return.

          • @Bruceflix: Need one of us to go over there for a while lol

        • What if I tell you that I have all the music I ever listen to in 24/192kHz already? lol

          • @sqheaven: Go on..

          • @sqheaven: Well, that is now becoming the only option isn't it.

            • @Bruceflix: 16/44.1kHz is fine in all reality.
I trialled qobuz but didn't like the interface, library and wouldn't pay a premium for it. Good to test a few hi-res tracks, can end up buffering etc.

Be good if tidal replaced MQA with say 24/192kHz but 96kHz is all I'd personally bother with. My non MQA dac (RME) still plays masters fine, must come in at 48kHz.

Would probably still keep my ifi zen DAC even if MQA wasn't utilised, got balanced output to headphone amp and works well .

  • Can confirm playing Tidal in the car brings my speakers to life!

Seriously the music sounds so good, worth going through the VPN jumps to get a cheaper sub!

I kept Spotify (for podcasts) thanks to the Turkish sub too, but for music Tidal is now superior!

  • yeah got a free 60 days of hifi when I got my tesla I only just activated it down though 5 months later lol So far I like it the quality is good it has a really good selection of music.

  • Looks like they've finally caught up and this method will no longer work. I received this email from tidal.

  • Turkey seems to be the go for Spotify, will that work here as well?

EDIT: Nope, not available in Turkey

  • +1

Having been a Tidal subscriber for a couple of years, I've identified only a few minor negatives that are subjective to one's music preferences.

    Negatives:

    • On occasion, specific tracks may appear grayed out due to copyright restrictions in the registered country; Spanish copyright laws would apply in such cases.-
    • Playlists such as "best of 2023" might not align with the Australian music taste, considering Tidal's focus on RnB and Hip Hop. However, users have the flexibility to curate their own playlists.

    Positives:

    • Tidal HiFi Plus utilizes FLAC files and offers support for up to MQA – 24-bit/352.8 kHz with a compatible DAC.
    • Tidal prides itself on offering the highest royalty percentage to music artists and songwriters within the music streaming industry.

Full details including qualities and formats for Tidal are on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tidal_(service)

Here you can compare library sizes etc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_music_streaming_…

Don't forget the tidal downloader, may have to start grabbing favourite stuff in case, I've been getting hi-fi not master.

  • Nooooo! been a good 10 or so month run…

Anybody suggest best way to keep all account playlists, favourites etc? Is there a simple way of moving to Australian account (and paying the 1000% increase)?

    • If you have moved to a different country, you will need to create a new TIDAL account using a different username and register it in the new country where you currently reside. Once your new account is set up, we can assist you in transferring all your playlists and favorites

        RTFM? thanks.
First email I've had from Tidal Argentina in English :)

        • +2

yeah they had to put it in English cos they know how many people are abusing it from other countries ;)

          • @bohn: Haha I had a laugh when I saw that english section as well :D

          • @bohn: I mean… I just moved from Argentina & forgot how to read Spanish… didn’t all you guys too 🤷🏼‍♂️

          • @bohn: Nah my emails are in Spanish so touch wood went under the radar.

    • used this to bring my Spotify playlists over to Tidal, worked well!

We know, please stop posting this and read previous comments.

  • Just got charged $1.01 for my subscription and received the email of death. So I guess I have one month left, maybe a little more if they delay the change or somehow my card still keeps being accepted (clutching at straws they do say "may lead to billing failure" rather than "will"). Ah well. Time to put on my sad playlist. ;-)

  • +3

Ok ok can we not have 20 people all post the identical email? It only needs to be done once, we have all received it.

  • I think people can stop copy and pasting the email now lol

    • +1

yeah, but that would mean people need to read before they post ;)

  • +1

I wonder if this will also affect the Argentinian subscriptions for Youtube Premium? It seems to be a a move by VISA/Mastercard not Tidal so I would assume it would affect ALL Argentinian subscriptions for all services?

    • nah
NBA league pass for example has no issue with upcoming subs from Argentina.

    • I'd be surprised if cards don't continue working until they expire. I just changed my payment method with no issues

      • What card did you change it to out of interest? I'm using an AusPost pre-paid Mastercard atm

        • +1

          Macquarie

  • I've got the same notice that they're stopping Argentinian subscription. has anyone tried Turkey or other countries?

  • Any way to open an Argentinean credit card?

    • +2

      yes, there most definitely is.
you need to apply to the Argentinian bank offering the credit card and provide the documents that they ask for.

    • +2

      Move to Argentina

    • +1

There is a way. But a bit too complicated. It's similar to a Oldubil virtual card but for Argentina. It's called OXXO Spin. I can't be bothered going through the hassle testing and spending money. For Ozbargainers later complain that it doesn't work.

      • Ill give this a shot, see if it works. I quite like tidal enough to see if i can keep it. I did the oldubil approach so comfy with the apps and VPNs

        • let us know how you go, you could perhaps make a post on it if u get it, seems like some ppl would be interested

        • I'm interested to hear how you went with this too.

      • Went I went to the OXXOSpin page I got this:
        403 ERROR
The request could not be satisfied.
The Amazon CloudFront distribution is configured to block access from your country. We can't connect to the server for this app or website at this time. There might be too much traffic or a configuration error. Try again later, or contact the app or website owner.

        Might be temporary…

        • did you try using a VPN?

          • @bohn: nope

            • @Ntsh: It work with HMA but I can't read what's written.

    • +4

Question: would you have known about this method if it hadn't been posted online?

    • +1

      That's DemocracyManifest for you…

    • +1

The people that actually live in these countries could say the same thing about all the people using VPNs. It's driving up the prices there.

    • just like everything else on OzB mate

  • Need an ARS credit card now lol

    • -3

Tidal is the best music service, even better now they are phasing out MQA for actual real lossless FLACS

Spotify would be #1 if they went Lossless, but they are marketed for the everyday listener who enjoy listening through Beats and Apple Airpods

    • +2

Exactly bro ..most or a lot of album you can still choose cd quality or MQA but they may not have a hi-fi copy.
You can specify what quality when 👇 from GitHub app too, but who really knows.

It has been a very great service, and I'd pay more than a couple of bucks a month and could do away with family anyway as not everyone else appreciates it.

Apple would be good if I was in the ecosystem but otherwise tidal is the go.

  • Well I just got charged for this months subscription… ARS225 = $1.01..

    • Yeah my next payment is due in a couple days. It might take awhile til they enforce the local credit card rule.
I think I'm just gonna let my sub keep going til they cancel it.

      • yeah, I'll keep going till they cancel.

  • -5

I received an email today saying Tidal Argentina will only accept Visa or MasterCard from Argentinian banks. Looking like my subscription will end unless someone has a workaround?

  • Amazon < Qobuz < Tidal in the order of cheap to most expensive plan. I may go with Amazon after this.

    • You mean the one that comes free with prime?
I have prime, never tried it.
